Having gone to a Chinese in my local town for over 20 years I decided to try this one for a change! I cannot fault it on anything and it's a good thing it's nearly 8 miles from my house or I would be eating there every night! But worth the drive, I drive past about 5 other Chinese take aways to go here.
Great service, staff are super friendly, the food is 1st class!

Our party of 10 were booked in for a meal to celebrate a special family occasion. A menu with reasonable choice was offered and staff were attentive. We had the restaurant almost to ourselves ( there was one other party)
We started and ended the evening in the lounge, which was pleasant.
I guess the overall impression was one of a reasonable middle of the road place who made us feel welcomed and so ensured we had a good night.
Car park would benefit from some attention to include improved lighting.

Dropped in at short notice today and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Show to a nice table and our drinks order taken. Staff were helpful and were happy to discuss items on the Sunday Lunch Menu.
My starter of mixed fish was amazing, Smoked Salmon, Gravadlax, Mackeral, Fish Pate and Tempura Prawns.
I chose the Roast (Turkey) with all the trimmings and it was really good. The large Yorkshire could have done with a small jug of gravy just to wet a little. Otherwise an excellent meal.
The portions are generous and we had no room for dessert.
Reasonably priced. A nice Lunch in a relaxed atmosphere, with attentive staff.
Recommend you visit.

We came here for the first time to have our first meal without any children's for a while! Then location is good and the carpark nearby is only 100yards away maximum. The decor was a bit tired inside but the views of the town outside were nice. There wasn't much of a buz or atmosphere inside but the staff were all very friendly and attentive and couldn't do enough for you. We had a starter and main which was very nice. The Pakora starters were nice, as was the large garlic Nan Bread with our curries. The prices were reasonable for the location and we had a nice meal. One thing that lets down the venue was the toilets which were very dilapidated and in need of an upgrade. Plus the men's toilets had a single door opening beside a table which when open gives you a good view of people using the facilities which was slightly of putting so keep an eye on where you get sat! So all in all, the place could do with a spruce up but the food was not too bad for the price paid. I would give it another go.

Stopped here while working in the area and was impressed with the quality of the room for the cost. Room is more like a suite with a separate sitting area with a sofa and a large bathroom with a really good shower. Although there is no wifi in the rooms it's free in the bar (good excuse for a drink whilst working) and as the rooms are not over the pub the only noise is from the road outside which goes quiet fairly early. There is no parking on site but plenty of on street parking close by. Staff are all friendly and the restaurant looks quite good although I didn't eat there due to work commitments but had a look around and was impressed with the cleanliness. I will probably book here again if working in the area and would also be happy stopping here with my wife if we come to the area for a break anytime as it's convenient for visiting both Glasgow and Edinburgh without stopping in either city (Glasgow half an hour, Edinburgh one hour countryside on the doorstep).

Strathaven is bristling with coffee shops and eateries and this is one of the best.It is slightly hidden down an incline beside a little stream off Green St. There is an extensive menu to choose from Sandwiches ,Paninis and Baguettes are all available with various fillings.We plumped for hearty lentil and minestrone soups respectively which were served with delicious crusty bread. Now i am partial to the odd fruit slice but have difficulty in finding my favourite iced ones. The icing really is the icing on the cake when it comes to fruit slices. This was available as special of the day accompanied by your choice of tea or coffee. My friend had a lovely white chocolate millionaires shortbread. Very,very nice.While you're waiting for your order to be delivered which won't be long.You can have a quick browse at the adjoining gift and jewellery shop.No tack here,Some really unusual items were on sale like the purchase made by my friend a money box in the guise of an old Singer sewing machine. A really good range of jewellery also awaits your pleasure. Art lovers may also browse and purchase some really nice large framed paintings.This is the place to find that something special for someone special. The staff are really helpful,friendly and attentive. Now the best part.The soup,Crusty bread,cakes, tea and coffee came in at just under £10 for two.A perfect place to spend a whole rainy afternoon.great for intimate chatting too.Go Find.

The Chip Barn is a traditional fish and chip shop with a sit in area for about 15 people. Its style harks back to the 1960's but the food is what you expect though recently the range has been improved a bit. If your looking for a traditional fish tea with bread and a hot mug of tea this is your place.

It looks well hidden, but judging by how busy it was this afternoon it is a poorly kept secret. The staff are super friendly, the ambiance is excellent and the temperature is just right for a winters day.
The simple menu is full of well sourced and well prepared delights, from breakfast rolls, to sandwiches and soup, burgers and filled potatoes. They are now the third place that I have found (other than all Sainsbury's cafes,) that have unsweetened soy as standard.
Well worth a stop when shopping or for a quick lunch.

The Waterside is very nicely laid out and decorated, pleasant outlook onto the green and thought it would make a nice change from some of our usual haunts.
We had a mix of the set menu and a la carte. Others have commented on the portion sizes and certainly on the set menu they are not generous.
The fish and chips was the best bit of the selection, the other mains were not great. Starters were ok.
A fish risotto full of fish bones was pretty poor, and didn't like the alternative dish much either. Just one of those days when you wish you hadn't bothered.
The puddings were a bit better but all in all it was a bit of a let down.

Wonderful cake choices, delicious looking snacks and larger meals, though not much room to maneuver within. Close to parking. Was quite busy with what appeared to be many friendly locals catching up with news.
