Well, as I use to say: Every costumer knows when the owner of the business is on duty. Mauricio takes his task very seriously and developed sharp eyes to every costumer needs or feeling in concern of quality of food and service. The waiter Zé (pronounce the é as you say in yeah) is outstanding. You will pay a formula price of reasonable R$ 130,00 (about US$ 37,00) for an "all you can eat" plus desert. My wife assures that was the best lemon pay she ever tried. The place is tiny so better arrive before 12:30h, and opens just for lunch.Creative and exquisite far east food in an impeccable service, just in the hart of downtown of Rio de Janeiro, in a walking distance of lots of important places to visit as well as the public transportation to everywhere.Don’t miss the ceviche and the tuna avocado. This is the one you must to go...Hi! We were super happy with your evaluation. We really take care of every detail here at Hachiko, as we know that this is fundamental for whoever visits us.You can be sure that we will convey your compliments to Zé and our entire team.Just a note: We also opened for dinner. So on your next visit, you can be with us at night.See you soon!Team Hachiko.

This restaurant specializes in pintado, a meaty fish like grouper. They dust the fish fillets in parmesan and wrap on a churrasco (Brazilian barbecue, or churrasco) spear, and grill. You choose your side dishes--we chose alla Meuniere, with broccoli rice (green and delicious), potatoes and a butter sauce with small shrimp, mushrooms and large caper berries. A great value and plenty of food for two. Friendly, attentive service--obrigada, Pedro!

We visited here on a Sunday afternoon. We had read the previous reviews and were not surprised when the taxi driver refused to drive us up the hill to this place. So we walked the 15 minute path, and we felt perfectly safe! Smiling at the locals as they smiled back, only enhanced our feeling of security. We were waited on by David’s wife and another family member, and although our conversation was in English on our side, and Portuguese on their side, we understood each other easily. Our first dish was the seafood salad. It was artistically served and tasted wonderful. Our next course was the pork ribs. The meat fell off the bone, and these had to be the leanest ribs ever. The meat was flavorful and savory. We ended with a seafood stew. Although not my favorite, my husband gobbled down the entire bowl. We had the opportunity to meet David and found him to be a really likable person. He entertained us with stories and photos of the many celebrities who have eaten there. After we ate, David’s wife took us upstairs to show us a special surprise. Then David called and tried to get us a taxi, but no one was working on a Sunday evening, so he personally took us down the mountain to a taxi station! How often would you find an owner who would go out of his way for foreign customers?By all means, visit this place for a wonderful experience. After all, if the U.S. Ambassador to Brazil, and Michael Bloomberg, and Hugh Laurie (Dr. House) all ate here and enjoyed themselves, wouldn’t you?

It reminded me of the more famous brethren in Ipanema and LEBLON in terms of food quality, decor and ambiance.I strongly recommend that you give It a try if you come all the way out to Barra.
