Snowmass Village Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Snowmass Village

April 14, 2018 Chanda Heide

Despite its name and reputation as a world-class ski resort, Snowmass is not just a one-season Colorado wonder. More than 3,000 acres of terrain parks and halfpipes woo skiers and snowboarders, but 40 miles of hiking and biking trails keep active travelers on the move when the snow melts. The mountain town's boutiques and casual eateries complement the festivals, free music events and rodeo held each summer. When the flakes fall again, a groomed cross-country ski trail links Snowmass to Aspen.

You know what to expect. Good coffee at somewhat inflated prices. This Starbucks is standard and does nothing special to reflect it's location. When in a ski town with so many options, I prefer to frequent the local cafes unless the Starbucks is something special as in Sun Valley. Now Sun Valley has one of the best Starbucks on the planet.

We chose The Stew Pot because it was rated the number one restaurant in Snowmass. We were not disappointed, The cocktails were well made. The Caesar salad had fresh crunchy lettuce. The daily beef stew was incredibly tasty and the portions generous. This restaurant deserved its number one rating.

While vacationing in Snowmass our family of 10 was seated promptly at a round table. Our server did an excellent job of being responsive to special requests and otherwise keeping track of the group. A wide range of dishes were ordered and everyone was pleased. My PEI mussels were super fresh and prepared in a tasty broth. The duck was a little fatty but the flavor was nice. The wine selection was well priced and had something for every taste. All present had a fun time.

I love, love, love Gwyn's! I love the remodel, the new dining room is so beautiful and has a great ambiance. We came in for lunch the other day with some friends from out of town and had the best lunch and out friends loved the experience. We ordered the lobster fondue to share, followed by a variety of entrees which we all devoured. Portions are generous and everything is appealing to the eye and tastebuds- a lot of thought and attention is put into the presentation of the food. We were well taken care of by our server and the rest of the staff, drinks were constantly refilled and whatever we needed was quickly attended to. This is one of my favorite on the mountain restaurants to eat at - I am never disappointed at Gwyn's! Plus the views are amazing from the restaurant, don't miss an opportunity to eat here but make a reservation- it gets busy for good reason!

Visited a few nights. It is the only bar in Snowmass at the moment with any atmosphere!

The seating is a combination of sofas around a fire, bar stools and high tables. They have a fairly extensive bar food menu but just as happy to have us there only for drinks.

There is a tv screen but it is unobtrusive. Decor is dark wood and dark tones but the bar is sort of in a conservatory so lots of windows and natural light.

The service is a bit slow but the staff are really pleasant so we could forgive them. I think it needs a bit better management but it is definitely worth a visit!

Venga venga has the location that makes it as successful as it is. The unfortunate thing- as I review this year after year- is the owners/managers don’t take advantage of what has been given to them. Each time I am there I could have ordered 3 times as many cocktails. The service is slow, the food is good- not great- but still good. Back 30 years ago it was the Timbermill and drinks were always flowing and it was the place to me. I hear from everyone the same complaint about service. The location saves this place. But if they had better service they could probably make a lot more money! Which would help slow summers in Snowmass.

Mom and I have been coming to a Snowmass for ten years and always make a dinner visit to Tasters. We ordered the powder pizza - white pizza with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and feta cheese. Slice Italian Bistro

Reviewed By wbullseye - Windermere, Florida

I initially had gone to Snowmass to attend a film screening as part of the Snowmass 50th Anniversary celebrations. However it took too long to get there from Aspen and decided to stay for dinner instead. Given my dietary restrictions I was looking for someplace where I could get a gluten-free meal and decided to give Slice Italian Bistro a try. The restaurant is located on the second floor near the gondola. You can either eat-in, order take out or have it delivered to the local area.

As it was still the early season the restaurant was busy, but still had no problem finding a table. The inside atmosphere is somewhat unique, something between what you would find at one of the chain national delivery places to your traditional sit-down service. They had several televisions along the walls and a nice view outside. You can watch the process of both making your pizza as well as the to-go boxing of the other orders.

For those who are ordering a gluten-free you are able to order pretty much any of the pizzas for an additional $3 for a 12" crust. I ordered the hula hula, which consisted of grilled pineapple, Canadian bacon, red onion and coconut. I've had some really good gluten-free pizzas before, but this one was by far the best that I have had. In fact it was better than most regular pizzas I have eaten prior to my diagnosis.

If you are in the Aspen/Snowmass area and looking for a place for lunch or dinner I would highly recommend the Slice Italian Bistro. The waiter who manned the restaurant during my visit was very helpful and nice. Prices are on the higher side for a pizza/Italian restaurant, however on par for the area. You will spend a lot of money on food at any similar restaurant in Snowmass, you might as well spend your money here at one of the best in the area.
