Slovenia Hostels hotel | Places to Stay in Slovenia

May 2, 2023 Karren Gelb

The former Yugoslav republic of Slovenia, which gained its independence in 1991, is slightly smaller than New Jersey. With one toe dipped in the Adriatic and several major rivers and lakes, water sports are popular. To the east, the Alps provide excellent hiking and skiing. Nestled below its castle, the capital of Llubjana is a vibrant, youthful city with a thrilling arts scene, a flotilla of festivals and impressive architecture that runs the stylistic gamut from Renaissance to Art Nouveau.

Trip with our study-association

Reviewed By V1100YHisabelr

At the end of April, we went to Ljubljana for a whole week with our study-association. We were with 23 people in total and had a lovely time in Hostel Tresor! The staff was really kind, they would always help up if we had any questions and all the facilities (badrooms, toilets, general space) were very good. We had breakfast every morning, which was very nice and tasted good. It was an amazing experience.

Worth the money

Reviewed By AXA-India

No complaints whatsoever. It’s within walking distance to the old city center, nearby is a mini supermarket, bakery and restaurants. My room is facing the road and we get the occasional vehicle noise. The owner speaks English and she took time to indicate the places in the old city.

Great Stay

Reviewed By Skipendres

This place was wonderful. Excellent location and service, especially by Marusha. She arranged parking near the property and answered my many questions about the city. Rooms were clean and my spacious bedroom had plenty of room for luggage and clothes. Easy access to old town and Preseren Sq. Staff provided excellent recommendations for cafes, wine bars and restaurants. Highly recommend this place and its reasonable prices.

Meanwhile, there is a garden near the hostel with the playground for children and it is also perfect for relaxing and reading a book in the shadow of the trees. Another part of the hostel offer are concerts, photo presentations and organization of barbecues and teambuilding programs for our customers.

Mixed feelings, but the nature saves it all!

Rooms: old furniture, but clean and renovated. We loved the colorful walls in the bigger building. The stairs in the building are indeed lousy, and since the place is also a kind of centre for sports activities, it can get loudier. But in fact when we are on holidays we do lots of activities and we always sleep like babies, so that really did not bothered us. True that if would be greaylt to have some little soap for hands at least, towels and sheets were nice and clean. Sports: We rented a canoe, grrat experience, but perhaps we could hear a bit more instructions about how to use paddles and some safety tips or so. We had our bikes with us and we can reccomend cycling through thr Voje valley. Free and stunning! Breakfast: coffee is horrible (sorry guys, but I am a coffee lover:)), breakfast is continental ane simple, not too diverse, but totally doable. You can also bring your own food, but since we have paid for the breakfast, we wanted more. They run out of fruit quite fast so that is a minus, because otherwise evreything is quite "dry". I think if you could add simple yoghurts and some boiled eggs you would make a great difference with little investment. Stuff & general: nice, simple, chatty, we just didt like the prices going up-since we have bought coffee from the bar, the coffee went up for 0.20€. Not a problem to pay but just..really, that much for a coffee from a hostel bar? Nothing special, really. I can understand that you have a nice location, but if you can offer something more for that money, just dont raise the price, simple economy. !!!! Important: when you want to cross the road to reach the lake side, there is a road turn and you dont see the cars coming! If you will make a cross-walk (pedestrian) to make it safe for your guests to cross the nontransparent road, only then the bar-prices going up are reasonable!

It wasn't that bad. They told us we can check in at 10am but than we had to wait till 2pm. Also the bar tender was very mean and acting arrogant. Food was okay and the room was pleasent. We had our own bathroom and bedroom looked semi fancy. The owner was extremly nice. Overall I would come back if the prices would fall

Worst treatment

Reviewed By StefanoC1226

We checked online the working time, and as it was until 11pm we decided to go and we reached there 10.40 pm. The hostel was already closed so we tried to knock the door and call the phone number but nobody answered. After 2 minutes someone opened the door and came out, pretending he wasn’t working there. He claimed he didn’t know anybody but also he didn’t let us go in. After clearly lying about it, he kept repeating that he finished working and he had to go, even though we said we didn’t have a room and we wanted to book it for that night. All of this during the opening time. So he locked the door, grabbed his car a quickly went away. Defenitely not the way to treat 2 potential costumers!

Never expected this as my room as it was booked for me. I was pleasantly surprised and found the place quite cool. Staff were helpful and the place was tidy and good Wi-Fi. Room was cosy and ambient. Although the room was basic it had everything you need. A light, chargers, qr codes for accessing info the beds were very cosy however I kept banging my head when I woke up ? Brill place to stay however I feel it was overpriced compared to previous places i have stayed. Would stay again for the experience

Great friendly service by the owners

Reviewed By Lightwaxer

I was staying for a few days with my son, and from the moment of our arrival the owners, Iva and Ales, provided a very friendly and excellent service. Check in time was officially 3pm, but we arrived at around 1pm and this was no problem - we were offered some delicious home made wine spritzer on the terrace and were shown to our room shortly afterwards. Iva and Ales both speak excellent English as well as other languages, and were happy to answer any questions. Ales even offered to lend me his swimming trunks for use in the nearby aquapark, and Iva helped by recommending a taxi service from Koper to Trieste for part of our return journey. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and we slept well in our room with a bunk bed. We highly recommend the optional breakfast (local eggs, ham, different cheeses, tomatoes, croissants etc). The location is a short walk across the river to the old town centre, and about 15 minutes walk from the aquapark and tennis club. There is a good range of excellent restaurants nearby to suit all budgets, and also a supermarket, bakery and other shops. I would definitely recommend staying here and certainly hope to return one day.
