Restaurant Krapihovi both cherishes and creates new Finnish culinary tradition in an idyllic villa setting. The pearl grey and green main building was built in 1883 as the Krapi estate main building and as summer residence for the Councillor of State Sourander. The seasonal cycle and fresh Finnish ingredients from field, water and forest form the basis of the Krapihovi kitchen. Krapi has its own curehouse, a buthery and a bakery on premises. Prize seemed high for a lunch, but it was worth every penny. Beautiful, quiet restaurant with very good buffet lunch.

Restaurant has two sides but they both serve the same meny. You can choose any free table. Pizzas are large and so are also other portions. The salad table is not good.

Rosso Kerava

Reviewed By Carolyn S - Lambertville, New Jersey

Rosso is an Italian-styled chain of Finnish restaurants and it's not very Italian. It's also evidence that Finland still has a long way to go when it comes to good quality, reasonably accurate chain restaurants, but in Kerava, a bedroom community about 30 minutes north of Helsinki, it's one of the only games in town. It's pretty lame. The ambience, to start with, isn't much; it's tucked into a corner of the Prisma hypermarket and while it has four walls around it, the glaring, blaring light of a supermarket isn't terribly atmospheric.
It's got a full bar. That's a good thing.
The food's pretty terrible. Watery pasta bolognese (you can do better yourself, at home). A mediocre salad buffet that doesn't look all that tidy.
It's not expensive, or terribly so, so it's popular with families. I'd rather eat at home, frankly.

Cafe Komsalo

This place is a small café in an island called Komsalo and it serves laxsoup and fresh smoked fish + it is a very popular place among boat/sail -people. The local newspaper HS stated that the place has ingredients to be a classic.

During summer boating we found this nice cafe/restaurant. Huge sunny Terrace, lots of boat places. It's an island and only reachable with your own boat. Good coffee and fresh bakery, cheap. Also fresh smoked fish to buy (I think the owner is a fisherman?). Fantastic place!

Sipoon Kellari

Reviewed By TapioT - Vantaa, Finland

I visited in Sipoon Kellari-restaurant today with my mother, her husband and my brother. I liked it very much!
Interior of the restaurant is nice and has basement-feeling. Staff of the restaurant was very friendly and polite - and they noticed you very quickly. Food was really good and tasty! I had for first course snails (second time in my life because I have been a bit suspicious about snails) and for the main course ceasar salad with chicken. Really good chooses - the servings are so big I had troubles to finish my salad because I was so full. And I can eat a lot! Without first dish I think I could eat some of the meat- or pasta-dishes.
Very happy happy of the set and will defiantly go again.
Rating is more 4,5 than 4!

Kin Sushi

Lunch buffet was awesome some months ago, but nowadays the quality of sushi buffet is not that excellent anymore. Sushi tasted like it have been cooked in advance, not just in time to fill the buffet table.
Fish tastes fresh, as well as all other ingredients, but somehow there was a "pre made" feeling while eating.
Still, price is not bad and quality is OK for buffet.

This restaurant is quite new, and it seems to be on a good start. The service is very friendly and attentive, and if you like food with Indian taste, it's worth a visit. Besides this, you can also have "traditional Finnish food". Pricewise, it is competitive, clean and almost cozy! Recommended for checking out.

Restaurant Onnellinen Kana

A cozy pub-like diner in the heart of Kerava city. We serve mainly chicken prepared in our special way, but also fish, pastas and snacks. In summertime we have the largest and sunniest Terrace of the city.

Reviewed By Carolyn S - Lambertville, New Jersey

Ravintola Onnellinenen Kana -- which translates to "Happy Chicken" in Finnish, is a neighborhood place that is my favorite (admittedly offerings in Kerava, a bedroom community for Helsinki) don't amount to much. But I love it here. As fits the name, the menu specializes in chicken dishes, whether it's starters like wings and nuggets to more elaborate stews and casseroles and even a chicken burger.
My go-to is a basket of the most delicious chicken nuggets I've tasted in any country, with hot and fresh fries, well salted, along with dipping in a curry mayo sauce.
In the summer, there are plenty of outdoor tables on Kerava's main pedestrian mall. Great people-watching (though hate the prevalent smoking). In winter, the interior is cozy and country-style.
On this most recent visit there's evidence that the owners continue to invest in the restaurant (this time, fully rebuilt bathrooms, always a good sign). It was full at about 3 p.m. for lunch, so that says something (it's open straight through from lunch - dinner). Beer and wine are available, not sure about cocktails. Great place for families, couples, solos....
Someone on staff always is fluent in English (not everyone, but I've never been there and had a hard time communicating); there's an English language menu you can ask for.

We went here with friends, two families with kids. We heard the place had opened recently and wanted to give it a try. I have always liked Nepalese cuisine and this restaurant did not let me down. Very tasty food, big portions and reasonable prices. And the naan bread was superb, we just had to order more of those!
