Coffee and tea per usual at Starbucks! Good pastries and open faced sandwiches. Good location near the train station and the mall. A little shop but nice.

The restaurant is located within the Kamon Whalf and offers fantastic view of Kanmon Straits from 2nd floor. The range of seafood offered was just breathtaking for me... blowfish, sea urchin, salmon roe, whale to name a few. Donburi meals with generous serve of seafood is hard to find! Green tea soba is also a specialty of Yamaguchi prefecture. Set menu are available for lunch and dinner. Great restaurant for your seafood fix!!!

I ate here based on a Lonely Planet review. I was excited to eat sushi/sashimi from a restaurant above a Japanese fish market. When I arrived for lunch at 12:45 it was packed. There was a 15-20 minute wait. Once seated, I took my place at a long counter where the sushi/sashimi would come around on a revolving conveyor belt which was pretty cool. The prices of the fish are determined by the color of the plate they come on. However, there were mostly the higher priced plates that seemed to be going around. After spending about 45 minutes here I managed to sample 5 different fish that ranged in price from 190-480 yen per plate of two pieces. The fatty tuna was by far the best. I tried whale tongue which was chewy with a smoked flavor. The sushi was average. I felt that the selection they were putting out was somewhat limited, yet the menu itself was quite extensive. I would have stayed longer, but after waiting for more fish to appear, I just kept seeing the same pieces going around. I am still glad I went, even just for the experience.

This canteen was located on the second floor of the fish market "Karato market" in Shimonoseki city.
We arrived the market at 11:40 am but there was long queue in front of the canteen. We waited for 40 minutes. We placed an order before entering the shop.
I ordered the sea urchin set meal which contained a sea urchin box.
The quality of sea urchin was so so, but I felt that it was quite affordable.

家内は来たことがあるのだが、私は初めての利用だった。ロケーションも日本家屋の雰囲気も文句なし。ランチは２種類のコースがあり、Roseという５４００円（税込み）のほうにする。前半はロワール地方のきりっとした辛口のミュスカデで海鮮等と合わせた。かつおと鴨の前菜に、次のフォアグラとポークのテリーヌ等も美味しかったが、さらに次のさわらが柔らかく仕上がっていて、これが一番ワインに合った。ゼリーをそえた冷製スープも素晴らしかった。季節の野菜が花を添えていた。
で、口直しのチェリーとアイスの後は、スペインのトーレスの赤ワインとリー・ド・ボー添えの鹿児島のビーフをいただく。リー・ドー・ボーを久しぶりに食べたが、トーレスの一般用ではなく、もっといいワインだったこともあり、保存状態もよく鮮度を保った味で、このコンビも楽しめた。ワインの貯蔵は玄関出たところの昔の倉庫を改造して利用しているようだが、飲んだワインはどちらも鮮度が高く、いい貯蔵をしているのだろう。日本のレストランはワインの貯蔵に問題があるところが多いものだが、これなら大丈夫だろう。
食後のコーヒーとデザートも外の関門海峡を眺めながらのいい時間が過ごせた。
店内の対応も素敵で、高台の場所にあるのだが、これなら客は来るだろうと納得した。送迎などが場合によっては利用できるようだが、私たちは散歩を兼ねて歩いていった。

A lot of tourists gather here every weekend and holiday during the lunch time to enjoy all kinds of inexpensive Sushi sold piece by piece in the Karato Fish Market. They take them out to sit on the deck along the Kanmon Straits. Roof top of the Karato Fish Market is my favorite place to eat those sushi and to have a rest looking down the Straits busy with ships running both ways.

土曜日１１時開店なのに、３０分前でももう何組も名前を書いて待っている。少し早やめにオープン、待ち時間なく入れた。メニューに食べ方は書いてある。自分としては、最後のそばがぱりぱり状態のものが気に入った。１枚の瓦の上にそばが盛り付けられ、絵になる食べ物（（笑））

Our specialty “baked curry rice”, “kiln baked pizza” which dough is fermented by beer yeast are the best with our beer. This restaurant sits next to a channel at Mojiko Port on Kyushu and across from Shimonoseki. It is also just across the drawbridge and steps away from the frequent and fast ferry to Shimonoseki.
They brew their own beers here, and have actually a very good Hefe-Weissbier. We got the grilled octopus and it was amazingly good. If we had not had a lunch at the Shimonoseki Fish Market not too many hours before, we would have doubled the order!
They also had a nice variety of food items, including homemade suasages.
Prices are reasonable for Japan.

unexpected visiting in mosiko. We went here only for the curry :) and we satisfied with retro curry ! mosiko is a small town. so you can visit some places around this restaurant.
