Based on reviews on TripAdvisor we visited the restaurant. The Dutchman potjie whilst served in a small potjie pot is not really a potjie. More like seafood in a creamy sauce. That said the calamari in the dish was really good although we didn't like the taste of the mussels. The sushi was good. Has a good selection of imported beers and ciders.

The Waffle House

We specialise in freshly made-to-order crispy Belgian waffles, topped with an array of savory or sweet options. If waffles aren't your thing, you can opt for savory dishes with the rice or salad option, while sweet dishes are offered in a bowl without the waffle. We believe that food should be fresh, wholesome, nourishing, as well as delicious. So great care is taken in the preparation of your food; this includes the use of whole foods and quality ingredients in our recipes. To make your food just that bit more special, we try to use organically grown vegetables and salad produce whenever possible, avoiding foods that contain additives, preservatives and colourants. We aim to meet our customers' individual needs by ensuring we offer gluten, egg, or dairy-free options, as well as a range of vegetarian and vegan options. Our Little Wafflers also deserve a menu of their own, with portions tailor-made for little bellies. Waffle soldiers, toasted treats and a range of sweet waffle add-ons are all available for them to enjoy. To keep them occupied in between mouthfuls, our menu doubles as a picture that can be coloured in and turned into a work of art.

Always popular so go early as no bookings taken. Food is excellent and an interesting variation served with waffles. Staff are helpful and friendly. A consideration would be cushions for the elderly. Must make mention of the car guard in the parking, he was fantastic

Pavillion Tea Room and Restaurant

Reviewed By McGill_Tripper - Montreal, Canada

We took our friends here for lunch due to its lovely location overlooking the ocean.
It ended there
I ordered a calamari dish that was described as grilled tomatoes garlic etc and it was bland tasteless and in general awful.
The fish and chips were just OK...fish overcooked
My husband's calamari and shrimp dish was bland and there were very few shrimp...again bland. Our other friends cutlet was tasteless. It was as if children learning to cook were in the kitchen.
Prices were high considering the quality of the food so we suspect they intentionally gouge tourists
Never again...

We have thought it is only seafood they served but we were surprised , because the people joint us there not every one is eating seafood. Me and my wife have had the seafood potjie and it was very good. Our waiter were very friendly and was helpful with everything ( choice of food and drinks ) I can promised you if I ever go to Uvongo again that place is my first choice .

Went for a Sunday lunch, chose to order of the set menu, the food was greasy and highly disappointing, the prawns were undercooked and translucent and the service was awful, they came to check on us, from time to time, was not that busy and a smile or even a friendly gesture was too much clearly.
The calamari however was well cooked, at least hence the 2 stars i gave the restaurant, very poor on the whole.

Munchner Haus

Reviewed By SeanJHB - Johannesburg, South Africa

We are on a quick weekend to the KZN South Coast and decided to give Munchner House a try. The reviews seemed to indicate a high quality of food.
We all though the food was average. We ordered speciality German food, Eisbein, Schnitzel and Gordon Rouge. Nothing stood out as memorable.
Eisbein ordered as crispy came out with a soft skin on it, certainly not crispy. It was tasty, but I had to cut off the entire skin to make it edible. Both other dishes dry and somewhat bland.
Our youngest ordered pizza and this was good. Thin base and very tasty.
I would not call the German food good here. A lot more could be done to improve food quality and taste.
Service was good and attentive, but we were they only table in the restaurant, so we would expect this.
We have eaten at better options on the South Coast.

The Highland Fryer

This restaurant is the best value for money on the South Coast. On Sundays there are to three course meal options available; one Sunday Roast and the other Fish and Chips.
There is a choice of starters and dessert with either option. The portions are generous and food is wholesome as opposed to fancy. Good atmosphere with pub on the side - can be a bit sweaty at this time of the year.
Good friendly service from waitresses and floor walkers.
Good gig!

Chef Zander will tantalize your taste buds with great home made South African cuisine. Their brownies and the lemon meringue is to die for. For the not so sweet tooth, try the curried stir fry. Totally love the Beaver Creek coffee selection of which a different coffee is featured every day, Transkei gold, is my favorite.

Tea at Bay Tree

Tea at Bay Tree is a big, gooey slice of Tea and Cake heaven. We set out to make Tea at Bay Tree feel like a visit to a typical English Tea Room. Mismatched vintage style China, home-baking and a welcome that makes you feel like you're with family. Well, some of you feel like family to us too! Our new range includes BIG homemade cakes, cheesecake, apple pie and of course freshly baked scones! Hand-cut sandwiches, bagels and toasties and daily specials all make up a delicious, cafe-bistro style menu for you to enjoy. We love Tea at Bay Tree, and we think it shows. And we know you're going to love us too!

very well appointed restaurant with a decor shop to browse in. lovely menu, taking consideration of Banting, vegetarian and the usual bacon and eggs person.
perfect for breakfast, lunch or just tea and cake.
tea is served in a proper China tea teapot, which makes all the difference for a 'teaperson'.
we had lunch here, i had the smoked salmon & cream cheese on toasted rye served with a small side salad. this really was superb. my husband has the same on a tramazeni, which he said was great.
definitely recommend this spot

We normally visit Panarottis Shelly Beach on a weekly basis, but because I had an operation, we didn't visit for a month. We were there on 29 June and the waitress set us at our "normal" table. I've waited almost 5 min to be served, while there was 4 waiters standing and sitting around stuffing their faces with food. I then asked in a load voice, if anybody will help me. Then this poor waitress ran from the front to assist us. She apologised for the wait, cause her table wanted to pay. She was the only one running around, while the others stuffed their faces. I asked the one guy, assumed he was a Manager, if she's the only one working. He laughed and said, yes, she the only one left for day shift, the others work nigh shift. When did it changed that we can't help our colleagues with orders or drinks. When did you become so selfish??? We love going to any Panarottis, but if this is how it's going to be, we might reconsider going there again.
