The room has the ''WOW-FACTOR'' , with ultra modern, clean, minimalist lines .and expansive floor to ceiling glass windows , giving the room incredible light.. The bathroom is HUGE with twin wash basins , a powerful rain shower , bath , and a futuristic , automatic, opening/closing toilet..The bedroom has great space ,with a sofa /coffee table seating area and a well appointed desk area for the computer with excellent wifi. The giant size TV includes the CNN news channel for Western guests.. The room includes a bar fridge and a kettle for tea/coffee making.The hotel has a large indoor pool with an adjoining wellness spa. A Chinese and a separate Western kitchen offers a superb selection of food to satisfy both Asian and Western taste.The breakfast has a very good selection of both Asian and Western cuisine. The staff at the front desk and at the restaurant are very welcoming and professional and go the extra mile to make your stay a truly enjoyable visit .Special mention must be made of room /reception manager, Damon Li , a thorough professional hotelier , who put in top energy to make our stay both relaxing and very memorable. Reviewed By fiasco-ssVisited Shaoxing for a sporting event and stayed at the Holiday Inn. It was well situated for amenities, close to a food and entertainment district and not a long walk from shopping and cultural attractions. Our room looked out over the canal side and wall-to-wall windows gave a good vista of the night lights. Opening the window, however, let in unwanted late night street life noise. Room well appointed. plenty of water bottles replaced frequently. Air con noise not intrusive. Bathroom functional. Internet...well, this IS China. Connection comes and goes. Signal is better in the foyer downstairs. Data comes and goes and the Great Firewall stops our usual social connections. Reception staff are helpful and often are competent enough in our language to attend to our needs. Everything else flows smoothly here. The breakfast bar is pretty good and we have selection including Asian and some western fall-backs. I have to stop myself at three breakfasts. Coffee is the ubiquitous automatic machine.

Exzellent journey into a modern version of ancient China

Living in small houses - newly built with air-con and floor heating. Everything in walking distance, yet still the indulgence of club buggies, if more convenient. Very positive surprising is the breakfast buffet - since deep in China, focused on the Oriental taste, however, also a Westener can find a nice selection. Try as well the other Restaurants on the estate. Excellent food. Chinese Language required for ordering.

Enjoyable experience
Reviewed By myst_haidianWent to Shaoxing for weekend. The main attraction is of course, Luxun and the famed Old Xianheng Restaurant. It made sense then, to stay at this hotel. It basically packed everything Shaoxing has to offer in one place. Location couldn't be better for a Luxun themed tour. Right across the street is the Wupeng Boat Quay that will take you directly to Sanweishuwu or Shen Garden which are the main attractions of this area. The old Xianheng itself is a place of interest, appearing several times in some of Luxun's best known novels. The flavored beans and Taidiao rice wine from the restaurant are very fine examples of local cuisine. Like them or not -- they preserve the ancient flavor rather well. The hotel itself is well maintained and the small garden behind the lobby is very beautiful. The "themed suite" room (upgraded from a standard suite and is a corner room) felt a little dated but meets our needs. Outside the window is Shaoxing's old town and it felt very authentic. Amenities were of Xianheng's own brand and were of rather decent quality. The executive lounge were not exactly what you'd expect from a 5* and you can only use it one time per day -- rather strange but then again, was OK. Would expect a little more for the executive floor though. Also you'll need to walk a little bit if you live in Block 6/8 -- I'd ask for a room in Block 5 next time (also facing the out-door garden). There's a very good Sauna/Spa area (would be great if you visit the area in Winter) but sadly no pool -- would be perfect if they build one. Breakfast is good with their Chinese section and a bit weak in the Western department -- perfectly understandable. All staff were well-trained and professional. Didn't have any issue with that. I think you'd be much happier to expect it to be a nice four-star boutique instead of a 5* luxury -- but then the price is just right for what you get. I definitely enjoyed my time there.

Lovely Hotel, Charged me twice
Reviewed By Rebekah LWhile the hotel itsself was Lovely and up until checkout I had no complaints, i was charged twice and staff were less than helpful. Charged once to the chinese card i checked in with and once to the britishcard on my account. Not good enough for a hotel of this standard. Especially not with checkout staff laughing and saying maybe It's OK. Want me to leave with no confirmation that i would be refunded.

Great Location, Great Price

It is located just a few steps from one of the main attractions in town and the immeadiate area is very atmospheric. Our room was fine, with the only negative being that the wifi didn't work. The on-site restaurant is also cheap and fairly good. Service throughout the hotel is a little lacking. This is probably due to a lack of English.
