The Kempinski Hotel Taiyuan's Element Restaurant offers a top notch grand breakfast buffet that covers most of the second floor. There are stations that serve Chinese food and can see the chefs preparing the food in the background. One station offers noodles and dim sum, dumpling, and steam buns. We watched the chef hand cut and cook the noodles in the boiling water. Another Chinese station offered stir fries with meats, vegetables and cold vegetable/salad dishes, tea eggs, congee, millet porridge and soups among other items. For those who are adventurous, can sample the delicacies such as preserved goose liver, kelp salad and marinated bamboo shoot.Separately, there is a chef that prepares daily the Shanxi role made of flour type crepe rolled with filling of hoisin sauce, sliced cucumber, scallions, and peppers. The Western station offers such as sausages, bacon, roast potatoes, grilled vegetables (tomatoes/mushrooms) and eggs made to order. The baked goods station included both Western and Asian breads, buns, pastries and muffins with spreads and jams. The European station included cold cuts, variety of cheeses, Norwegian sliced smoke salmon and prosciutto sliced from the leg. The fruit station had someone cutting the fresh fruit in front of the guest. The cereal station had a variety of common western cereals, including oatmeal with choices of toppings (nuts, raisins, prunes, etc.)Besides, coffee and tea, we were able to sample some interesting beverages which included Watermelon mint flavoured water, and Cucumber celery juice among others. There is also a salad station. There is lots of variety of choices for all types of eaters and preferences. We were able to have brunch everyday and not have to worry for another meal until dinner. The restaurant staff from the manager to the server were very friendly and helpful. They ensured that we were well taken care of. This restaurant also serves lunch and dinner buffets, which includes a lot seafood items and roast duck.
