After a tiring day and staying in the hotel we had no wish to travel further in the evening, so we ate in the lounge bar. Decent menu and the food was fine. Pleasant outlook. The public bar sounded a bit raucous at times but not really an issue.

We went to the anchor inn for dinner, and we enjoyed it. Nice place frequented by locals. Recommend the hamburger with onion rings.

The food was good, we had the hake (hope you like capers - fortunately we did! ) nice bit of fish but could have done with an accompaniment...the fondant potato were tiny cubes (why, potato costs nothing! ). The Teenage boy had burger which we asked for plain with any sauces etc on the side. It came with salad and sauce already in the bun...again, luckily this was just a little ketchup so acceptable in the Teenage eyes. But additional ketchup didn't arrive till the rest of the chips had almost gone. Service. It would have been easier to do it myself. Maybe it wasn't the two girls fault, the multiple tiny dining areas meant they couldn't be everywhere at once. Unfortunately we were sat next to the bar and we still had to prompt them for every menu, drink, ketchup, dessert menu, bill etc. Expensive for what we got and the service, could easily be better if the manager looked the service and portions from a customer viewDear Vicky r,Firstly, I was pleased to read that you enjoyed the food when you dined with us recently. I am sorry to hear that the service let us down and will address this with the team. Please accept our apologies, as you can read from our other reviews on here, diners generally find our waiting team to be friendly and efficient.I do hope that you might consider dining with us again in the future.Best wishes,The Creggans Inn

Popped in for lunch on our way down the coast. The restaurant is very inviting and it's pet friendly! The food was incredible, we had the goulash and fish n chips. The furniture, fireplaces and exposed wood and stone make for a cozy atmosphere. Would definitely go back!

A welcome return to stay at the Whistlefield Inn following closure and now reopened under new ownership. It is a charmingly welcoming Inn with all you would expect; cosy, quirky and full of atmosphere and character - all overlooking the stunning Loch Eck.The room was good previously, but now even better appointed under the new owners, with extensive in room tea/coffee options, biscuits and complimentary still and sparkling water, all you could need to settle before a very comfortable quality nights sleep. The hot shower has plenty of power which is a bonus.Pre-booking arrangements were excellent and I received a lovely welcome on arrival from Claire who quickly sorted out my order for Chef. The pie was piping hot and full of flavour with an ample portion, but sadly due to my late arrival I was eating too late to have room for a pudding despite the ample selection on offer.I recall the breakfast being especially good on my last visit, the porridge in particular - however now even more options are available and the apple and cinnamon porridge was excellent. Again Claire was first class, her cheery, easy chatting and personable approach was so refreshing providing a real sense of genuine hospitality even at 8am!Pleased to have stayed once more and given the reasonable tariff provided both good value for money and a great overnight experience. Thanks Lisa and Claire for a lovely stay - will be back!Kevin Reid

The menu is nicely varied, and a lot of local produce is used. I can recommend their sharing platters, either shared as a starter, or for one person as a main. Everything was delicious and well presented, and the prices reasonable.

We popped in to the Goil Inn whilst visiting the village.Living ‘next door’ in Arrochar, it is nice to have this little gem of a village to visit when the sun is shining.. non sunny days are available too. This was however our first stop off at the Goil pub... First impressions were good, with a polite chap offering us a table by the window - it was packed outside. Drinks order taken, he returned to take our order.. steak sandwich/chips & Mac n Cheese for me, with bacon - never had it with bacon before.. Food was very tasty, with the mac ‘n’ cheese quite excellent.Three different members of staff visited our table during our visit and all were very pleasant, checking food and enough to drink etc...Really nice visit and we will definitely return again soon... may try a cold wet winter evening next time - I bet it’s a grand atmosphere in the Inn.. Thank youJim & Judith
