Reviewed By Greg49This may have been 5 star once but the lack on investment in the property is clearly evident. Threadbare towels, broken toilet, bar tills that don't work etc. Staff are pleasant and helpful though, but it's not 5 star.

So the reader may forgive me that I am going to do it nevertheless !!! We , that means my wife, our children and me, were planning to visit Sao Tome and Principe on eastern 22. By making preparations and planning the trip the team of the hotel was incredible helpful, open for every question and always with an open ear ! No matter if it concerned rooms, flights, excursions or rental cars - there was always a wonderful and friendly hand ! I’m sure in that hotel they are all like this but I have to mention Carmen Van Wyk because she was becoming a kind of friend to me over all these outstanding helps and messages ! Because of a natural disaster we missed our flights and although we tried every possibility at Frankfort airport there was no chance in all the coming days for us to reach Sao Tome ! Beside of being sad, disillusioned and frustrated again much work was needed to organize the „not-coming“ of our family and again, Carmen and her team was the nicest, most helpful and most emphatic person you can imagine. So maybe one can understand that without ever having been to one of the HBD hotels of Sao Tome and Principe we have made experiences with the team of that hotel group which must be helpful for other guest knowing that whatever will happen while you are on vacation on a far away island, people of that hotel will take care of you like if you belong to their family …thank you again and we are really deeply touched !

We had a great help from HBD booking office I South African and specially from Carmen who gave us all the help in the world and always responded with quick replies. Since we traveled with a 1 year old boy they provide a bed for him and made all the experiences tailor made for us. A big big thank you also to the guides David and Felipe. We where also treated to a surprise valentines dinner on the Beach which will always stay in our memories.

Belonging to the same group the new Sandy Praia is an astonishing place and we’ll keep secret. If you like remote locations, pure nature and high level of luxury and service, this is a unique spot. We try to find this kind of locations around the globe and Sandy Praia will stay on top 3 of more than 25 spots we visit on the last decade. A special word to Delfina Santos, the GM, that surprised us every day with fantastic tours, lunch’s and dinners. All this takes more value when you are is such a logistic remote place. Offering 5 charming bungalows with nice terraces looking on the Atlantic Ocean, this ecolodge/farm is set near Neves. The Restaurant with an excellent view on the Ocean, serve you the finest delicacies sourced from the islands natural ingredients, most of them produced in the Mucumbli farm or fishing in the neighbouring. São Tomé Coffe, natural juice and home made cake are also available. All bungalows are with private bathroom and very spacious, functional and extremely tastefully decorated. The hotel is surrounded by flowering and green plants and the beach of black basaltic sand is about 5 minutes on foot.It´s the best place to start the climb to the Pico of São Tomé and Obô NP.

We stayed in - what i think is called the garden rooms - anyway they look out onto the garden and are not in the main house, but they were really nice and comfortable. The main part of the hotel is great, we enjoyed sitting on the various terraces watching the sun set and the gorgeous view. The beach (yes it's down a steep twisty road - but it's a nice walk, and if you don't fancy the walk back the hotel come and pick you up) is just lovely. The staff are so friendly and kind - even when we were an hour late for a trip we had booked . Thank you so much - we had a really lovely time.

Reviewed By Hans Tharald HStayed at Sweet Guest House a total of 7 days in November 2021. Big and clean rooms that are cleaned every day. Very friendly and helpful staff. I loved the social area on top since there are not so many places to stay out at night in Sao Tome. Highly recommended!

Hotel Central is the renovation of one of the oldest hotels in São Tomé. Located in the heart of the city and close to several restaurants and markets, makes it a great starting point to get to know the beautiful island. It has 14 rooms, all equiped with AC, TV, mini fridge, kettle and tea selection, and private bathroom. Small, clean and cosy, the familiar treatment you'll get will totally make you feel at home. It's fresh environment, good coffee and pastries, daily lunch menus at special prices, and free wi-fi make it a very nice place to stop and take a break from the heat outside.

Reviewed By 919pavelhFantastic location, all necessary amenities such as street money changers, petrol station, supermarket, bars, restaurants are all on the doorstep of this hotel. It’s great for the first night on the island so you can soak up the culture. I’ve had a room facing the backyard which was fairly disappointing as was hoping to get one facing the street. However, it was very clean, AC was working and you get 2 bottles of water for free. The restaurant was quite disappointing. Coffee was good but for food all they were doing was a ham and cheese sandwich and some eggs. It’s slightly overpriced for what you get.

Nice hotel but no restaurant
Reviewed By robofonNice hotel with pool and bar but unfortunately no restaurant. The manager Vitor is really the right guy at the right place, very helpful and friendly. Clean rooms with air conditioning. The location of the hotel is good, the centre is within walking distanse. A highly recommendable place to stay at when in Sao Tome.

Supermarket is 1.4 km from Vila Marilyn. 24/7 staff on the property!

Reviewed By DespoinaMiWe had an amazing relaxing time in Vila Marylin. It is a value for money accommodation. We had already spent a week in Sao Tome and we have stayed in different accommodations and definitely Vila Marylin was the one we enjoyed the most. The staff was excellent , friendly and helpful , even though not all of them were speaking English. ( They speak French and Portuguese ) Breakfast was decent, Pool area was relaxing, rooms were spacious. We had to move rooms because of some reconstruction, and the toilet door was broken. But , given the price paid, rest of the room was overall good. Neighborhood might seem sketchy at the beginning, specially if this is your first time in Sao Tome, but it is safe to walk around. Restaurants and center area is approx 20 mins walk. We regretted that we couldn't stay longer. In the next visit to Sao Tome, Vila Marylin will be the top choice for vacations. Thanks to everyone in the staff that made our short experience there unforgettable and a reason to look forward to go back one day to Sao Tome.
