Great Location. Missed the Mark
Reviewed By Gary THave to give the So Alegria one star for the location alone. It fronts a magnificent wide open and almost deserted beach, even during a holiday week.. The wind surfers and locals really set the scene. Also, the So Alegria gets good marks for being within close walking distance to many of the TA highest ranking food and drinking establishments. Another star goes to the hard working staff, they are doing their best, with varied degrees of success in dealing with the recent crush of the Brazilian 1%. Most all are friendly, with the front desk staff being exceptional. Even the owner Romano spent some time chatting with us daily. They handled an unfortunate check in situation well. Due to a late check out by other guests, our check in was 2 hours late. We had come directly from New Year's eve celebration in Rio, 7 hour flight with a connection plus a 1.5 hour drive from Natal, we were beat. So we were extra cranky when our room wasn't ready. We needed a shower and a beach. They handled it professionally though, with updates and with the owner comping a very good lunch in the hotel bistro. The property itself is comfy, but run down and in need of a face lift. We spent around US$200 a night for a large room. bedroom and kitchen downstairs, master bedroom upstairs. It was beach basic and sparse, but the beds were comfy and the air conditioning was fine. The wifi both at the pool and rooms was pretty good to. I would consider this a value as with two families, or a large family, your share would be half what we paid. The So Alegria in the end didn't really live up to its website and the TA ratings from other visitors. I do understand that Gostoso is a rising tourist beach town and that transition in Brazil is not always easy for a small town. But my wife is from Brazil and I speak Portuguese, so we were able to speak with locals and get other recommendations for what is sure to be a return trip. In the end, my final rating is always "would we return" to the So Alegria when back in Gostoso? And in this case the answer is no.

Cozy inn facing the beach, located in the paradise called São Miguel do Gostoso. Rooms feature queen-size beds, split air-conditioning and hot shower. All our daily stays include breakfast. we are really standing on the sand.

Reviewed By sorgudIt is simple and so clean. Located right on the beach. And I mean it! The room are small but comfortable. In fact you will expend most of the time in the beach. You have to be careful with the shower it might give you a shock if handle without precautions, ask the staff. The courtyard is covered with plants. The breakfast was superb. The "typical" Brazilian breakfast, with juice and fruits but you can ask for "almost"everything that is cooked right away.

Terrible Customer Service - Não Recomendo, Péssimo Serviço!

Then, on January 9, 2022, I received an email from Booking saying that there was an issue and to contact the hotel. I called the hotel immediatelly and spoke with Diego who told me he did not know what was going on, but would hold off a room for us until the manager arrives on the next day. Well, the next day I called the hotel and spoke with Maria Fernanda, who introduced herself as the hotel manager, and told me that there was an error on the reservation and that I would have to do another one again, but with today's rates which were almost triple than what I had reserved initially. I asked how that could be since it was not my fault that her reservation system had an error and pretty much she called me a liar by saying that I had received an email much earlier about that and did not respond. If I had received any emails from them or Booking I would have contacted them immediately since I was interested in staying there for one night. Which of course is not the case anymore. Because if they are treating future guests like that, then imagined how they treat them in person. I definetely DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone to stay there. There are many others hotels in the area with great customer service. I wanted to try Pousada dos Ponteiros, but regret immensily to had tried to give it a shot. I will continue to book with Pousada (hotel) Mi Secreto in the future. They provide an outstanding customer service! Reservei essa pousada em novembro de 2021, no Booking, para uma estada de uma noite no dia 15 de janeiro de 2022, e recebi um email do Booking no dia 9 de janeiro de 2022, dizendo ter um problema com a reserva e para entrar em contato com a pousada. Liguei imediatamente e falei com o Diego, que disse que iria bloquear o quarto que havíamos reservado e que ligássemos no dia seguinte para falar com a gerente. Liguei no dia seguinte e falei com a Maria Fernanda, que se apresentou como gerente, e praticamente ela me chamou de mentirosa na minha cara. Disse que eu já deveria ter recebido um outro e-mail do Booking e que não havia respondido e que se quisesse eu teria que reservar outro quarto nos preços de hoje. Ora, eu reservei em Novembro de 2021, e queria que eu fizesse uma reserva que agora iria me custar praticamente o triplo?? Tamanha deselegância e descaso da parte dessa pousada que obviamente não prezam o cliente, pois se eles tiveram algum problema com o sistema de reservas deles, no mínimo era para se desculpar e nos oferecer o mesmo quarto que havíamos reservado pelo mesmo preço, nada de mais ou menos. Bem, obviamente depois dessa só me resta a alertar a todos os meus amigos e conhecidos, que não reservem nada com eles, pois se fizeram isso com um futuro hóspede pelo telefone, imaginem o que não fazem pessoalmente. NÃO RECOMENDO! Existem outras maravilhosas pousadas, incluve uma que já fiquei (ver postagem passadas) várias vezes, Mi Secreto, que tem um excelente serviço e prezam seu nome e reputação.

Also just a short walk away from several great restaurants. Lovely friendly welcoming hosts who gave us plenty of suggestions for local activities.

MI SECRETO Pousada is a wonderful luxury opened in September 2009 in Sao Miguel do Gostoso, about 120 kilometers from Natal, capital of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. It is located in front of the Gostoso Sea, on the popular beach of Ponta do Santo Cristo, one of the best places in the world to practice water sports due to wind and weather conditions. MY SECRET Pousada, with access to the sea, is in front of the school and the nursery "Dr. Wind", that facilitates the transportation of equipment and rental of equipment of surfing, kitesurf and windsurf, boards and candles. Our hotel offers all guests refinement and comfort to enjoy nature in an exceptional place. Thanks to its strategic position and warm and cozy decoration, our guests always enjoy the peace they are looking for in Sao Miguel do Gostoso. An impeccable green area surrounded by palm trees and banana trees in the garden.The rooms have double, triple or quadruple beds for your accommodation. There are 19 suite.

Reviewed By acukiertThe property is well kept and located in a nice beach. Our room was spatious, a little bit rundown. Wi-fi was decent. The place is a kite-wind surf paradise, so expect wind. On the other hand, by this time, it was really windy, and likely uncomfortable for most people. Employees are not well trained. It is difficult to get service in the pool, beach or bar. It is a family friendly place; if you go for a couple retreat you might consider the possibility of having kids running around (as happened with us). The nightmare there were flies. They were allover, especially in the restaurant-bar areas. The fact is that the whole region around the hotel (but not the hotel itself) was full of garbage. It was really impossible to have meals in the restaurant. They did try to improve the situation by serving the meals in our room, which was much better, but flies were still there. Flies are different than mosquitoes. Mosquitoes come to bite you and are actually found in healthy environments. Flies come after garbage and food remnants in poor-hygien places. Really disgusting.
