Reviewed By ubuntucloneenStaying at Pensions was an absolute treat, the chilled out atmosphere, super friendly staff (Shout out to Nina and MJ ?), very comfy rooms and the best location in town. Staying here was a cherry ? on top of the cake that is MonteVerde. I also had the good fortune to get to know Ran and his wife while staying there, they're a one in a million family.

Reviewed By JasonK90My room had a fantastic view; Johnathan and his family were great hosts. It was easy to book tours through them at a reasonable price. It is only a 10-minute walk to town if you wish to visit the restaurants/ bars, and there is a shop 5 mins away if you want to to pick up some snacks.

Reviewed By louisag668We stayed in Casa Tranquilo for two nights and had the best time ever! Marco and his wife are so friendly and helpful, rooms are fine and cozy and breakfast is included. I can only say we felt very welcome and would love to come back to Santa Elena one day! Can definitely recommend it. Thank you, Marco + esposa for everything <3 Louisa & Mara

Monteverde Backpacker's is a very nice hostel, right new to down town, only 1 block away of the restaurants, bars and banks, will be a prefect places to enjoy of the cloud forest and all the activites in the area. We have dorms for $11 per person and Private rooms for $35 per night, all the rooms include internet and breakfast, all the rooms with private bathroom and also Kitchen, we also have a front desk, where you can also book all your tours for the diferent activites in the area and transportation to get out of Monteverde. Parking area, security guard all night and relaxing hammack area as well, and with some very nice and relax grill night, for sure the best choice to stay in Monteverde.

Reviewed By 6freyasWe red a lot of positive reviews of this place, but our experience was horrible. To start, after check-out we discovered bedbug bites. We stayed here for several nights so it’s definitely from this hostel. I send an email to inform the hostel so future backpackers wouldn’t end up in the same situation. The hostel never replied…. Secondly, breakfast is not worth the money and if you want to make your own breakfast, kitchen only opens at 9am. The kitchen is poorly equipped and closes early (according the rules 9pm but they frequently close earlier). You can't even take plastic cups outside. Thirdly, the whole hostel in covered in leaflets with rules. For example if you don't clean your dishes, wifi will be shut down. Or if you don't dry your dishes a $10 fine will be given. And finally, the staff was very rude to us. When closing the kitchen at 20:45, we asked if we could finish our drinks and they replied: 'no, reglas son reglas'. But it wasn't even 9pm. Don't stay here!
