Bien

Reviewed By Ana B

Perfect Place to Relax

Reviewed By GeorgiaInTheJungle

I spent a couple of nights at La Matilde in May of this year and It was perfect, peaceful, tranquil all made the better by great food, wines from the vineyard and wonderful service. The staff were excellent from the moment we arrived, to our ride in the afternoon, a wine tasting with Pablo (the owner) whose enthusiasm was contagious. One afternoon we strolled around the vineyard, garden and fabulous vegetable patch - the staff working outside were all happy to chat about what they were doing, and how they manage to achive organic and biodynamic wines, fruits and vegetables! We could not have asked for anything more, the fires were lit making the rooms cozy, great bedsheets and the most wonderful bath! It was the perfect place to relax for a couple of days and switch off.

Beautiful oasis in the mountains

Reviewed By bwasylenko

La Constancia was a beautiful escape in the mountains. Daily guided hikes were a great way to see the area (and connect with nature), the grounds of the estancia were well kept and spread out affording lots of space for privacy. The meals were absolutely delicious, and they were very accommodating to my dietary needs. The estancia had a wonderful, homey feel, simple, and filled with love. If you're looking for some great R&R mixed with a little bit of adventure, this is the place to be! *Note* Most of the staff spoke very little English - so if you don't speak Spanish, get ready to play lots of charades!

Hotel Yacanto

Old-world charm, not to be missed

Reviewed By Argentine-tourist

My husband and I spent six nights at Yacanto Hotel and Golf Club and were glad to have decided to return after a shorter stay sixteen years ago. It was low season, and there were days when we were the sole guests. We enjoyed the premises, the views, the food and the decor. The entry road, flanked by trees, leads to the main building, dating to 1920, with its verandah overlooking the front lawn, the tennis court (well-kept, well-lit at night), the paddle court and the bowls court. The main building, where we stayed, housed the dining room, reading room, games room and breakfast room on the ground floor, and the guest rooms on the first floor via a wooden staircase. The decor of the guest rooms is early twentieth century, with the original wooden flooring, wardrobes, tables, chairs and chests of drawers. Some of the bathrooms still retain the claw-footed tubs. The only twenty-first century conveniences you can find are LED TV screens and hot-cold air conditioners. But we relished the details like the brass key (no electronic key cards here!) that turned in the polished bronze lock. All the handles of the wardrobes and drawers were bronze. No, there is no in-room safe. No, there is no minibar. No telephone even! But there is wifi for your mobiles or tablets throughout the hotel buildings and grounds. Excellent mattress on the king-sized bed (we stayed in a Superior room). Room was clean and so was the bathroom. Good house-cleaning service in the rooms. Thank you, Edit. The water had to be left running for some minutes, but then you got all the hot water you needed. The towels are thick and white but they are begging for a softener rinse (they're as stiff as cardboard) You must pay half-board (room, breakfast and dinner), and the food served (fixed-menu) did not disappoint. An entree,a bowl of soup, a main course and a dessert, every evening. Carefully planned menus ensure that you do not get the same fare twice in a week. The waitress, María Inés, added her cheerfulness and efficient service to make our dinners more enjoyable. We sat in the huge dining-room, next to the fire-place and she saw to it that there was always wood burning in it, since it was quite cold at night. The breakfast provided is barely adequate, coffee and tea, yoghurt, corn flakes, croissants, bread, toast, ham and cheese. One of the drawbacks of the hotel in the low season is that it is woefully understaffed, so that if we found something lacking we had to go round the place looking for the only staff member available in the morning, who happened to also be the receptionist and the bar attendant. There was a different person in the afternoon. We must stress the good will and charm of Soledad, who was always attentive and would seek us out to see if there was anything we needed. The grounds of the hotel are exceptional. 100-year-old trees, terraced landscapes, irrigation canals, the Yacanto stream which can be crossed by means of a hanging bridge. Sadly, the grounds require a larger staff to see to the maintenance. Loungers were scattered near the swimming pool, covered in dirt and bird droppings, and so was the glass coffee table on the front lawn. It wouldn't hurt to wipe it with a cloth every morning. But it is not my intention to carp, as I understand that the place must be very expensive to run due its size. And besides, I don't want the manager to write a crabby response to this review (as he did with one in Spanish earlier on this year). I wish to highlight the assets this hotel offers, as I experienced them myself: no invasive noises except the birds singing, no roads within the premises, no cars, the hills in the background (lit by the sun as it went down), the tasty fare (chicken, lamb, pork, ravioli, beef Strogonoff, sirloin steak were the main courses), the ambience, the fireplaces in the public rooms. All of this made our stay a very pleasant one. Guests who are golfers may use the golf course, but it is off grounds for non golfers, so we only got to see the entrance, across the hanging bridge. There are two annex buildings with more modern guest rooms, especially planned for families with children. To sum up, I strongly recommend spending at least a night there. The place merits it, as a relic of olden times. You never know when the place might be sold...to a chrome and plastic hotel chain that may provide all the modern amenities but will never equal this hotel's personality and atmosphere.

Relaxing natural setting

We just stayed here one night and had one morning to walk and bird on the grounds. The lodge itself is a nice contemporary style and the grounds have very nice areas of native vegetation – beautiful trees and shrubs, and very unique birds! We can only hope that the area will not get subdivided and lose this wonderful asset.

We were made to feel very welcome and there was a good breakfast (fruit, homemade breads, orange juice). Rustic rooms with comfortable beds. View towards the mountains must be stunning when there is no cloud (we were unlucky).

Since Victoria is located in a privileged corner of Yacanto. In a large park of over one hectare, with a setting and quiet reserve, essential part of our proposal. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, located beneath the shade of aged trees. Its style is rustic, with designer and confort.Techos of logs, stone walls, lots of color. The park is designed in the rest of our guests.

WHAT A DREAM

Reviewed By Elyane M

Wow. What a place. This was exactly the kind of home we were searching for for our short time in Cordoba. Upon arrival, our host Martin was helpful and understanding of or earliness. We chose the Loft, which was perfectly located in the pit of the trees, next to the strong river, making the nature sound that much more intense. Not to mention the perfectly lit fireplace to be noticed right when we opened the door to the Loft The bed was divine, the bathroom was spacious and practical (oh and how good was that hot water!) and it was impeccably clean Although the kitchen was a bit small, it just made you get that much closer to your partner while cooking We strongly recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend a time of luxury for an affordable price.
