We stumbled on this restaurant after checking into the Hotel Nilka for a one night stay. My husband ran into chef Franco in the lobby and he was so wonderful in explaining the entire menu to him prior to dinner time. My husband insisted we give it a try. I had the penne camerones zucchini crema y curry and my husband had the linguine al centollo. Both incredible! Franco and his wife Nucci were so kind and attentive. They also provided us a sample of different bruschettas. They made us feel like family the second we walked in the door. They have only opened recently. They also served us a wonderful limoncello after dinner shot and a shot made with passion fruit. Again awesome! We left so happy! I ate breakfast here. There are limited selections for breakfast. The food was okay. The service was okay. The coffee was very good. The ambience was very good. This is one of the few restaurants in this part of town that takes credit cards but they charge a healthy service fee for doing so.

We booked a Beach Day (11a.m. - 3 p.m.) with Lunch here when our cruise ship visited on Nov. 22. Our party consisted of my husband, daughters, sons-in-law and granddaughter (toddler). The booking was accomplished easily on the internet and we received a confirmation by e-mail. We arrived at the pier early (tendered), but were accomodated as we waited for transportation (by truck, not boat). Everyone was very welcoming and the areas were shown to us (beach, restaurant, showers, bar, etc.). Everything was as good or better as pictured in the website and very clean. There were only a few others there besides ourselves. The beach was clean and only slightly rocky--we soon found the sweet spot of the beach and spent all but lunch time in the water or on the sand! It was picturesque with lots of trees and plants and lawn. We had lunch at the restaurant (no buffet due to few folks), but we were allotted 3 appetizers, 6 entrees and 3 desserts for our party of six--as well as the 12 drink tickets. The food was wonderful and plentiful (except for chicken tenders--not wonderful)! We especially enjoyed the calimari, eggplant roll-ups, yucca fries and fish (whole) Samana style. The sandwiches were good also. I highly recommend this to cruisers who wish a pleasant day with water, sand, and food, and if we should return to Samana, we would almost surely rebook this day. We saw that some people had massages and hair braiding, but we did not inquire since that was not of interest to us. Our transport back to the ship was on a smaller truck, but was timely, leaving as soon as we had changed at about 3 p.m. Giovanni met us and stayed in the area (very good English), but we would have probably been able to communicate effectively, since everyone spoke enough English. Very relaxing day -- pleasant place, good food, and a great day for all of us!

Great place to meet up with ex pats, locals, and tourists. Enjoy fresh made French bread and pastries, as well as sandwiches, pastas and salads. You can also enjoy a cool drink inside where they have air conditioning, or enjoy the breeze and view of the bay on the outside terrace. Jocelyn and the other waitresses always have a smile. If you are not hungry, you can also enjoy a wine, cold Presidente or a Cuba Libre.

We chose this place based on the menu variety and reasonable prices. Some dishes the 6 of us tried included: chicken sandwich, pasta carbonara, sausage and potatoes, and coconut fish. Everyone was satisfied with their food but the coconut fish was by far the best! The sauce made it! Really good even on the french fries and potatoes!Overall this place is a fairly cheap lunch option and it's right next to the Helado Bon ice cream shop so you can get dessert after!
