Trendy, boutique style hotel

Reviewed By mb74_england

Difficult to find until you get used to the area but after that very easy via a shortcut. A nice, modern hotel, clean bedroom and bathroom. The staff (friendly and helpful) replied quickly to my emails about a transfer from the station. Only a 20 minute walk from Red Square. My room had no view but that really wasn’t an issue. I wasn’t really impressed with the breakfast provided as there wasn’t any cereals or hot food, although there was fresh orange juice and the coffee was good.

Superb Place to Stay in St. Petersburg

Excellent place to stay in St. Petersburg in a restored grand home. We stayed 4 nights and only regret is that we didn't stay longer. The staff is wonderful, always pleasant and helpful. A wonderful touch that they provide is free ice cream and coffee/tea service in your room at any time. Hotel has a great location only a few blocks from Moscow train station in a very nice neighborhood with many good restaurants within a short walk. The city bus #22 stops a few steps away from hotel with direct service along Nevsky Prospekt and direct to Mariinsky Theatre. This made getting around the center city a breeze.

Kudos to Assembly B&B and Natalia

Reviewed By Rhonda M

Simply put: Wonderful Experience!! This was my first trip to Russia and first international solo trip. I can honestly say that without Natalia's assistance and suggestions in planning, I don't think I could have pulled off the trip! From the moment I booked my reservation, Natalia proactively gave me suggestions for an itinerary and other very helpful hints and kept in contact over the months I was planning my trip. She made sure I was taken care of, not only in the accommodation at her B&B, but also in transportation needs and even dinner accommodations :-) She literally thought of everything!! I felt I had my very own travel agent AND translator "at my service" because I don't speak more than 5 words of Russian. Natalia patiently translated for me when I was talking with someone who did not speak English. In addition, she ensured that I had the very best local guide for my tours. Hats off to Valentina (whoop! whoop!) who is also an exceptional wealth of knowledge in Russian history and art and an absolute joy to tour with on daily outings. With the two of them, it was a recipe for an exceptional experience in Russia. I cannot wait to go back (I'm already tentatively looking at dates). Hopefully, next time I can bring my son with me. I know he will enjoy it! With Assembly B&B, I was fully afforded and enjoyed immersing myself in the culture right away. This is exactly what I wanted; to experience Russia via an authentic Russian experience and that is what Natalia's place provided. I was able to experience a historical Russian apartment; very comfortable and clean with plenty of room and privacy. The breakfasts Natalia cooked each morning were delicious! The landmarks to Russian history that one reads about and sees on TV, are within walking distance from Assembly. While staying there, I enjoyed seeing the local market across the street go up and down each day while feeling the energy of the bustling city of St. Petersburg. As others have stated before, I too, feel like I have new friends in St. Petersburg. I cannot stress enough how exceptional this experience has been and highly recommend Natalia, her home and her recommended travel guide(s)! I am so thankful for the opportunity to visit this beautiful country and very thankful for the hard work, diligence and follow-thru that Natalia provided to ensure I had a great experience. "Thank you Natalia!

Good location bad facilities

Reviewed By Malwina5

Good location, polite staff, problems with facilities and bad breakfast. Pros: Elegant decor and convenient location. Extras like umbrellas , welcome mineral water and bicycles. Also had a sofa and a wardrobe in a separate room . They offer occasional activities like shows for children's and musical evenings. Cons: housekeeping - your room probably won't be cleaned until after 1pm. In my opinion late cleaning can often interfere with other plans and I missed fresh towels while afternoon shower. This is the only place I've ever encountered with such an inconvenience. Wifi access and speed could be better and you can only connect from the phone Unappetizing breakfast -the food offered is mediocre and they have bad drinks selection - for example, no plain water offered , but colored fruit juice , and machine coffee. The structure has a restaurant but it was closed so they did not offer room service

Lovely stay at Usadba

Very comfortable room overlooking trees and greenery at the back of the building. Really nice rainshower. My room was spacious and clean! I enjoyed breakfast (scrumptious pancakes with sour cream and cherries!) and the two dinners I had at the hotel very much. Good English at Reception and in the restaurant, and very pleasant staff. It might be a bit out of the way if you don't have a car.

Quaint hotel close to everything

Reviewed By Casa62

Like Moscow its cheaper to not stay in the centre of town and enjoy a vibrant local neighbourhood. Its an easy walk across the bridge to the main tourist attractions or stroll to the metro. We had the only room with a balcony overlooking what is aquiet street and park. Room wwas spacious and clean and bathroom had a heated towel rail. There are no english channels on the tv. If you have mobility issues this hotel is not a good choice as there is not lift and all rooms are upstairs. Breakfast is on the ground floor in the Mary restaurant and is ok for a hotel of this size. We ate at the restaurant for other meals a couple of times. Food is excellent but expensive. We are not big eaters and russian portion sizes are not generous but they were shrunk too much here. Got hungry later in the evening and had some instant noodles. A first. By contrast the portions at the georgian next door are gargantuan. A cute place that we woild stay at again because we love the feel of the neighbourhood.

A nice three-star facility.

Reviewed By Sergey K

We saw very positive reviews by TripAdvisor followers and never regretted our choice. This is just what you'd expect from a three-star hotel - good location in the downtown, guarded parking (for three cars, less than five bucks a day!!!), extremely clean everywhere inside, cozy rooms, decent breakfast and SMILES. Yes, smiles in the country where they are not a mask for every passer-by but a treasured souvenir. It's an old wholly-renovated early XXth century mansion with no elevator - but with a huge bellboy (actually, a bellgiant) so no worries. Rooms are different, take ## 12, 13 (our choice) and 14 - they are the coziest. One can mention among disadvantages few sockets, a powerless hair-dryer, lack of rugs on the (plastic) floor and sound insulation which leaves much to be desired if the property is packed. Don't be disapponted to find no slippers and bathrobes in your room, just inform the staff and they'll be fetched at a symbolic price. Some reviews in Russian say that windows are not that cold-proof but this was not our experience. To make a long story short - a sound three-star thingamejig. We'd return there. And - yes! - you may book not just a room but a concrete number.

Sauna and Pool at B&B A Pleasant Surprise

Reviewed By NextPlanetTravel

The owners of the B&B could not speak English so we used our phones to translate our conversation. Not only did they have a delicious and hearty breakfast but at night we took advantage of their sauna and freezing pool-a Russian tradition. Waiting for us after we dried off was a cup of hot herbal tea. What a delight.
