Rovaniemi (Finnish: [roʋɑˈniemi] ( listen)) is a city and municipality of Finland. It is the administrative capital and commercial centre of Finland's northernmost province, Lapland. It is situated about 6 kilometres (4 miles) south of the Arctic Circle and is between the hills of Ounasvaara and Korkalovaara, at the confluence of the river Kemijoki and its tributary, the Ounasjoki. The city and the surrounding Rovaniemen maalaiskunta (Rural municipality of Rovaniemi) were consolidated into a single entity on 1 January 2006. The new municipality has an area of 8,016.75 square kilometres (3,095.28 sq mi), thus making it the largest city in the European Union by land. Rovaniemi has an approximate population of 62,000.

The burgers and fries here are very good. There is a wide variety of different burgers to choose from and everything tastes fresh and cooked to order. They have sweet potato and regular potato fries mixed with all sorts of toppings. They have a large selection of beers and drinks to choose from. Unlike most of the other restaurants in Rovaniemi, this place is open all day. The staff was unbelievably nice and welcoming and answered all our odd questions about the beers. The only downside is how crazy expensive 2 burgers, 2 beers and some fries was. It was so so pricy but that is how Finland is.

We enjoyeda nice dinner here to have a chance from the plain hotel food we'd been having for a few days and really enjoyed it. Both the atmosphere and the food were nice. Service was friendly though a bit on the slow side. Portion size were good. We shared a portion of nachos con salsa and then had a plate of shrimp tacos and quesadilas con pollo and a the surf and turf. Both were nice even though the sauce on the quesadillas was a bit too sweet for our taste.

Restaurant Lapland Hotel Sky Ounasvaara is fine dining dinner restaurant, which has been one of the best restaurants in Finland for many years. Restaurant has fine Lappish cuisine with lots of local and Arctic ingredients. Admire the stunning natural scenery stretching out to the horizon through our panoramic windows while savouring the culinary pleasures created by our kithen dream team. Restaurant is located on the top of the Fell Ounasvaara. After dinner we suggest to make a visit to our roof Terrace with stunning views to surrounding nature full of fells and rivers. Location is best in the town for observing the Northern Lights from mid-August until the end of March. You can enjoy the Midnight sun in Summer in June and July. Table Reservations are needed to make in advance. A warm welcome for a visit!

After five nights in Rovaniemi, this was our last dinner and, it did not disappoint! The food was excellent and the drinks were very good as well. Even my young children (ages 5, 11, and 11) all enjoyed their meals of salmon and reindeer. The view was quite lovely, making this a great atmosphere. We went atop the roof, but seeing as how the weather was overcast, the view wasn't nearly as spectacular as I'm sure it is on a clear night. The prices aren't cheap, but are in line with what I expect from a higher end restaurant. So, i would definitely recommend this to all who enjoy good, quality food. One final thing to note, there's only one bus (bus 1, I think) that travels near here once an hour. My family of five took a cab over from the city and it was roughly €18 each way. So, you should factor this in to the total cost of dinner here. Also, I made the reservation well in advance of my trip to Rovaniemi. The place wasn't packed, but I would still call ahead.

I had booked this restaurant online before leaving the UK for our trip to Lapland, this was after Reading reports on trip advisor. We certainly weren't disappointed. The place is cosy and interesting, staff are pleasant and helpful. We both had the Rovaniemi market to start, expensive at €23 each, but still absolutely delicious and we both followed that with the bear - again delicious. Sadly after that we were full, so didn't have a desert. Wine and beer were also good and they bring a complementary glass of sparkling wine. Would recommend.

Local bakery & cafe that offers a good choice of different salty and sweet cakes and pastry. Somehow their coffee always tastes fresh and so does their tea. Service is good but most of all, their prices are inexpensive! This bakery is located near the main city centre, about 3-5mins walk from the shopping centres. Visit and you won't be disappointed. Only small minus is the 90's granny style decoration that really screams some update to the 21st century.

Cafe & Bar 21 has an unusual menu with main dishes on waffles. Additionally there are some Lapland dishes, like reindeer meat and a Lapland platter which pulled us in and were nice. Still you can better head further north for more authentic Lapland dishes
