Cafe Spring

Café Spring is located on the shore of Lake Tamula at the end of Petseri Street, where you can enjoy beautiful view of the Lake, good food and cosy surroundings. On the first floor of the Café there is a Terrace, a room for seminars and festive dinners and a Finnish sauna and an infrared sauna.

Restaurant have a Terrace with excellent view over the lake. Food was delicious, just it is better not to expect dishes to be like the items they are named as: for example chocolate fondant is just good-tasting chocolate cake, but it is not a chocolate fondant. Also cold tomato soup is not like gaspaccio, but it is like ketchup with water :)

Traditionally presented pub. Visited as part of large party. Service good and speedy. Food lovely. Quite large portions. Salmon was served with a creamy sauce which was delicious. Cake served for dessert was also very tasty. Would visit again if in town.

Restaurant Kubija

The interior design of the 90-seat Kubija Restaurant uses the elements of local cultural heritage, which create pleasant atmosphere for the whole room. The Restaurant kitchen offers delicious meals both for those who like national food as well as for those who prefer traditional à la carte dishes.

Reviewed By Suur_D - Tallinn, Estonia

The restaurant seems to be resting on its laurels as it is one of the few restaurants in Võru.
We had a package deal and we were offered the same buffet meal on day 1 for dinner and on day 2 for lunch (breaded pork chops). The food is kept warm during the entire meal period and it is very simple meat and potatoes.
We also tried the a la carte, but it seems that the kitchen is small as they were not able to handle a few tables ordering a la carte. All of our dishes came out at different times and the meat was over cooked.
With the spa promoting itself as an eco-spa, the restaurant was far from that with the food coming from large producers rather than locally.
Luckily, the service was friendly and reasonable.
The owners really need to invest in a better restaurant to complement the impressive spa component and the beautiful location.

Cafe in the Observation Tower of Suur Munamagi

When visiting the Observation Tower of Suur Munamagi there is a good possibility for taking a break and drinking a cup of coffee or tea on the highest hill of the Baltic countries. A beautiful view of the forest unfolds from the window of the Café.

After performing on the Terrace in front of the observation tower we were delighted to be able to sit down and be served a very pleasant pasta lunch by the friendly waiting staff before finishing our meal with choc ices and all washed down with the reasonably priced local beer. All this and a great location.. recommended.

If you wish to have a meal and a cup of coffee in north-western Voru County, the Café in Varese Guesthouse that is located by Voru-Viljandi Road is a suitable place for that. The menu contains miscellaneous dishes at favourable prices and in case of fair weather it is possible to enjoy your meal in the picnic area or in a conic tent. Upon advance notice, groups are served and banquet tables are prepared.

Reviewed By Erik_Mariachi - Yogyakarta, Indonesia

If you can't hold to the nearest town, it's a place right next to the road. As Varese is often partly rented out for special occasions, the menu may sometimes be even bigger than you expect.
Wide parking area; opportunity to stay a night (but better book it ahead).

They don't speak much English, so we needed a bit of help to "translate" the menu. Nevertheless, they have a "daily main dish" that is buffet type, so you can see it on the spot and choose or not to eat it. We had meat stew that was delicious and a soup that was very tasty. If you are around Rouge and need a quick and cheap place to eat, but also homey and cozy, look for this little cafe.

We found this gem of a place when we were looking for a healthy food place while touring the area. The space is inviting and cheerful with both indoor and outdoor sitting options. While the menu is not very large all the dishes we tried were excellent. We had a soup, a chicken dish and the beef casserole and all were superb. We also drank Kama, the traditional Estonian yogurt drink, which was superb. Overall, highly recommended.
