Quito Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Quito

November 22, 2017 Kelli Reichel

With a rich pre-Colombian history, Ecuador's capital was founded on the ruins of an Incan city but offers everything a modern traveler might need. It remains the least-altered historic center in Latin America and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Quito’s important sites include baroque gems like San Francisco and Santo Domingo monasteries, as well as La Compañía church and college. This huge city sprawls across a breathtaking Andean valley surrounded by volcanic peaks.

Came here for dinner with the family. Unfortunately we weren't that hungry. Too bad because the food was excellent!
First off, our son ordered a Quito Mule for a cocktail. I am normally anti any mule but this one was outstanding!!. After providing samples to me and his brother in law, we ordered two more!
Even the bread and butter deserves mention. The butter was really good. It had herbs in it but it was more than that. Not sure exactly what made it so good but seemed like it had been freshly churned.
We had a smattering of different dishes for our mains, ranging from ceviche to a special of beef goulash. I had the goulash but I wouldn't call it a typical goulash. It was beef cheeks with an amazing glaze and native potatoes. Everything on my plate was perfect and I would order it again in a heartbeat. Everyone at the table like their dishes. There were two different types of ceviche, a shrimp and a fish. I think the table would vote for the fish if they had to pick which was better.
Service was good but be warned our waiter spoke very limited English.

Went here with a large group and arrived early. Staff were very prompt and courteous, and were really great at recommending different appetizers and dishes. Incredibly knowledgeable about the food, and very accommodating with food allergies and dietary restrictions. There were about 10 of us and we were served surprisingly fast after ordering. Everyone was very satisfied with their orders and most ended up with take away. I'd recommend for anyone looking for an authentic Indian food experience while visiting Quito.

I usually judge a 'pasta place' by its Bolognese sauce. This one was crazy delicious. A uniquely sweeter style than most I have had in Italy, Argentina or USA, but it was out of this world! Incredible value. Super hard-working and dedicated team. Too small of a space for the number of eager people wishing to dine there. So glad I had the opportunity.

Shibumi Sushi Bar

Shibumi is a pioneer in Ecuadorian dining that introduces local and seasonal ingredients found nowhere else in the world, while reinventing the most classic forms of Japanese cuisine. The menu changes daily based on the market's finds, and the beer selection rotates weekly to highlight our latest discoveries. We base our experiments on the most demanding foundation of technique, quality, and simplicity, using Japanese traditions as a primary point of reference. The process of sushi allows us to combine flavors in inventive ways. The philosophy of omakase, which invites guests to eat the Chef's selections, allows our patrons to join us on a new level of experience, as both participants in discovery and fellow seekers of excellence. We hope you choose to make this a destination on your next visit to Quito.

Don David Internacional

When I decided to create a restaurant where domestic and foreign people would sit and enjoy the delicious Cuban cuisine in Ecuador, my main motivation was to place at all my customer's disposal my many years of experience devoted to haute cuisine. The smells, colors and flavors of the Cuban food get to your table thanks to the amazing variety the climate and fields of the Andes offer. Tradition and innovation merge into my homeland's recipes, which you can taste today at this modest meeting point that is already yours. We have no greater desire than to see our cultures and the people from our countries united through this small Cuban space outside of the island. Welcome to Don David Internacional. Lammhaus Grill&Bar

Lammhaus Grill & Bar is located in a bohemian neighborhood in La Floresta, an elegant colonial house has been rebuilded to continue the beauty of Quito. Lammhaus offers the best quality lamb meat in Quito, with a variety of dishes cooked on a turkish grill.

First time here. Nice house in La Floresta and good service. Quality lamb dishes with interesting choices of preparation. Favorite dish at table was ossobuco with tasty sauce. Lasagna also made with the ossobucco. Only disappointment (2 of us ordered these) was the 4 lamb chuletas which were very small and the photo on the menu looked better than the actual dish. Another plus were the large baked potatoes. A nice place for a Sunday lunch out.
