We had yet another great meal on Valentines Day and impossible to fault the food or the service. We’ve been dining here for 23 years and whilst Beau has only owned it for a few he has maintained the quality on all levels as well as adding the extra touch of greeting his guests by name, if he knows them, and always presents as a warm and humble man. And his team clearly respect him.The signature lime soy chicken is hard to beat but we can never pass up the Tarte Tatin which has to be the best we’ve had anywhere in the world. It baffles me as to why there isn’t a queue down the street every night here but quite frankly that suits us as we have never been turned away.

I went for the dinner service degustation on my first night in Brisbane. The ambience was reminiscent of a french bistrot, and took me back to Paris. The waiters were exceptional and great attention to detail (my sparkling was regularly topped up very efficiently). I had the lobster/whipped polenta/levain, St Agur gnocchi (gorgeously pillowy and my favourite dish), toothfish (with a range of asian ingredients which I couldn't work out how it came together as european), guinea fowl/parmentier, and a chocolate dessert. Only issue with service was my guinea fowl had bone in it, and when I told a waitress to notify the kitchen, she made a small joke about how I was 'lucky it didn't happen at the start', and did not even attempt an apology. Coffee was great and served with two crisp ginger biscuits. The bathrooms are located outside, so don your jackets if you are heading out in winter.

I’m a regular at this place and brought my partner to celebrate his birthday. After being seated inside next to two couples with 3 children (including a crying newborn) we moved outside to get some quiet time. The carpaccio was tasteless, followed by a veal chop (greasy and covered with tasteless breadcrumbs) and the duck, which was Ok according to my partner.Service was very good and the pleasant waitress looked after us well. She convinced us that the banana crepe brûlée would be “cracking good” and we were not disappointed in the quality although the size was very small. We took our own wine and had less than 1.5 bottles for which we were charged $40 corkage. (Far more than the $9.5 that another reviewer was charged.)Overall the food was just ok, if on the bland side, but certainly not the usual standard.

Last minute decision for an Italian dinner! The pasta was al dente and perfectly cooked. The mushroom pasta just needed a touch more salt or cheese but was other wise delicious. The chicken pate was amazing. The veal entrée (with mayo, tuna etc) was alright but I was expecting more flavour. Service was great at the start, but as the night got busier we were waiting longer and longer for food. All up I think we spent 2 hours there - mainly waiting for our food to come out... If you are ok with eating early, get there before it gets too hectic!

Six of us had lunch at this wonderful restaurant last week. We ordered the three course meal for $80 which in fact turned out to be very generous as beautiful amuse- bouches & homemade breads were interspersed throughout & handmade mandarin jellies & caramels were served after our dessert. The entree, main & dessert were impeccably cooked & presented. This would have to be the most exciting food in Brisbane at the moment .

$64 For breakfast is way over priced.Coffee and food were good but not worth $$$. Very inconsistent with serving sizes between meals. Big breakfast good size for $ but eggs Benedict at $24 For 1 slice of bread, avo and 2 eggs left husband hungry. Also said more like a white sauce rather than hollandaise. Most disappointing though is that having an allergy menu becomes very restrictive when they won't allow substitution. But happy to remove $8 item and add $4 and charge for addition still. I understand not allowing substitution all the time but allergies already make my dining experience difficult. So due to this won't be back. It's obviously busy and won't miss my patronage but warning to others you may leave disappointed. Dear OpinionATThank you for your review. You are quite right, there is a difference in size between the BIG Breakfast and the Putia benedict due to the different ingredients in each dish. The big breakfast is the most substantial mean on the menu. Many of our customers tell us that they have allergies and our staff talk to them about menu options that might work for them. I appreciate the difficulty you may often have in choosing a suitable dish. For this reason, there is a basic menu choice of eggs on toast to which you can then add sides that are agreeable with you. Perhaps that would have worked better for you than the Big breakfast. Having said that, I can assure you that your feedback, e.g in relation to the sauce, is appreciated and has been considered by the kitchen team. regards Dominique

Unfortunately I think this place just wasn’t for me. Outside of the amuse-bouche which was beautiful, porcini foam type dish with crispy duck, the food was really bland and unmemorable. My pet peeve in a restaurant is not providing salt and pepper on the table. If you’re going to be light on flavour you have to provide salt and pepper. I don’t feel comfortable asking for it and potentially offending the chef. While the sommelier was good for a chat none of the other wait staff seemed to show us their personality. The dining room lacks soul and the air conditioning was up too high to be comfortable. However the drinks list is incredible. If you like wine or cocktails you would definitely enjoy the effort behind the drinks list!

We went here for dinner tonight and it was absolutely fantastic! We worked our way through the starters menu with the garlic bread, bisque, cauliflower blue cheese soup, followed by foie gras to share and then the seafood - avocado tian. All absolute winners. We had Elisa explaining and recommending the different dishes to us and we couldn't have been better looked after. After that we should have stopped but we moved on to Irish coffee, Frangelico and desert. We will definitely come back!
