Reviews on American food in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Quebec City may be the only fortified city north of Mexico, but it welcomes visitors with open arms. Explore the Citadel, where you might catch Canadian troops staging a military ceremony. As for food, you could splurge on afternoon tea at the Chateau Frontenac, or do as the locals do and snack on poutine—french fries with gravy and cheese curds.

Dining at iX Pour Bistro is an exceptionally rewarding experience in every single way. Itâs immediately apparent as one approaches this tiny, quirky restaurant that youâre in for a different, but entirely delightful, evening. The bistroâs exterior is plain in a quiet neighborhood. The dark, simple, but pleasing interior will not satisfy some traditionalists searching for grand surroundings to accompany their grand meals. But the genuine warmth of Lawrenceâs ready welcome, the intimacy of the small room and the superbly gifted talents of chef/proprietor Benoitâs masterful cooking will soon salve any concerns. Here, the emphasis is rightly on the food and the connection of this bistroâs only two staff to their guests. And the food and the connection exceed all expectations. Lawrence, who oversees the front, spends generous time faithfully describing every element of the wine and spirit list and the menu items on offer. Benoit quietly executes each dish to perfection! The wine list is comprehensive and selected to pair well with the relatively few menu selections. Lawrenceâs personal playlist of legendary soft rock anthems quietly accompanies every course. The combination of all is very special and the entire room seems transported to an elevated place of culinary bliss. Every diner, most all casually dressed, appears captivated by the moment and without a care in their world. THIS is fine dining at its very best...a tour de force of food, wine and companionship. What a really pleasant experience! Be sure to have one of your party try Benoitâs motherâs recipe of onion soup, and do not miss his signature dessert using shaved frozen foie gras atop a delicious concoction of bread, cream and brown sugar...unbelievably good. Are you listening Michelin??

Le Chic Shack is a new gourmet burger/milk shake restaurant opened in June 2012. We also serve poutines, fries and salads. For dessert, we offer milk shakes and ice cream sandwiches. The owners of Le Chic Shack are the sister-brother team of Lucy and Evan
Savoury and filling food. Had the chic burger which was very tasty and perfect lunch burger. Also had the side of sweet potatoes that had a certain je ne cest quo, maybe crack Cocaine? Addictive flavour! Like they carmelized the sweetness out of the potatoes. Yum. Good beer selection too. The milkshakes looked good but I didnât have room for them.

My husband and I just arrived in Quebec City after a long drive and were very hungry. We found Chez Victor online and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised at the excellent service and delicious food. Highly recommend if you are looking for a variety of poutine dishes or burgers including vegetarian.

Don't be put off by the young, trendy look of this place. It's busy and full of young people. The food was fantastic, and so inexpensive. It can be noisy but there are seats outside if that's an issue. Definitely worth a visit
