Pushkin Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Pushkin

December 12, 2017 Franklyn Hardiman

Pushkin is a historic estate originally given by Peter the Great to his wife Catherine as a rural getaway. Today, the main attraction is Tsarskoye Selo, a collection of historic palaces, churches and other buildings that make it a World Heritage Site. Highlights include the beautiful Alexander and Catherine Palaces. The town itself was founded in the early 1700s and was the home of the first railroad service in Russia, which still connects it to the capital.

Stopped off for a late lunch during a 2-day tour of st. Petersburg. Meal was included in the tour price so I can't say whether it was value for money or not but it consisted of:
Mediterranean salad (inc feta cheese & olives)
Traditional borscht - bread on the side
Fried potatoes, chicken skewer & ketchup
Mango / Raspberry sorbet
Coffee (espresso / americano
All ok and the food was decent. Nice restaurant too - quirky decor.

We got to the restaurant on our way between Catherine palace and Peterhof.
It's a nice restaurant, very light inside, interesting architecture.
They have big tables, so it's good for big families (there were 8 of us). It was a little bit crowded, but food was good. We enjoyed it.

It was really a surprise, it's a buffet restaurant, very small, and it feels like you are having lunch in your own grandma's kitchen, well the dishes are not so grandma tasty but for Russia it was really good and affordable to eat there; perfect for fast work lunches!

The menu was well planned ..vitamin veg salad, creamy mushroom soup, chicken fricassee with rice and ice cream with berries...our group of 26 had a banquet table laid out except for a few of us had an adjoining table...we had nice house wine..and some local musicians entertaining us...great Admiralteistvo...we got to see the local artists with their special instruments and costume as well...keep it up..

Bushe

I haven't been to other places in Pushkin but this shouldn't be #1. First of all, it is located in the middle of the market (Russian market) and it took us 20 minutes to find. We were really looking for something authentic and special (since its rated #1) but I would say Bushe is more like a commercialised bakery shop (similar to Paul or Pattiserie Valerie in London). It's not bad but nothing special at all. I was hoping to get a taste of Russian pastry but it was all similar to what you can get in London. Coffee was horrible and it looked like a takeaway shop inside. I am sure there are better places to eat in Pushkin.

We stopped here while doing a tour in st Petersburg. What an excellent choice! The menu was complete with hot and cold soups, delicious hot and cold main course including appetizers and wonderful desserts to try. It was buffet style and the prices were reasonable. The wait staff were very helpful. The restaurant was quite clean with very clean bathrooms. We would highly recommend eating here.

After touring Catherine Palace, we walked into the center of the town of Pushkin and found Tavern Khlebnikov on the main town square. Interesting rustic, old-world decor, Good Russian Food. I had the pirogi and some vodka. A helpful server spoke good English. Prices were reasonable and the experience was memorable.
