Living at Bilbao, I do not need a hotel, however recently we had a dinner party there in the lovely restaurant to give farewell to one of our friends. We entered with high expectations, but left the place quite disappointed for several reasons.Service was o.k., however none of the waiters cared to fill up the glasses later on.The entrance dishes were up to expectations, but the main course was some sort of a pitfall. It consisted of a grilled rape (devilfish) with a side dish of fine cut chipirones in su tinta (calamaries in their ink). The devilfish was dry - most probably deep frozen, the chipirones quite hard. If I would have cooked this at home, I would have said: not my best day...The dessert again was one of these "industrial-type" cakes, nothing special.The worst of all was the mens lavatory, just a mess. So I complained at one of the waitresses.Later on we went to the bar and dancing place. As there were a lot of persons present, temperature was quite high and combined with the high humidity it was quite uncomfortable. I asked the barman to increase the air-conditioning or to open a door. He told me hat air-conditioning was already at maximum and the door can not be opened because it is broken.Needless to say, the door was labelled as emergency exit...Any further question?

The Iturgitxi Restaurant is located in the town of Berango, Vizcaya. The restaurant has a few extra features which make it a nice place to go with children including a children's playground and a large lawn.This was at least our 3rd visit to the restaurant and we have never been disappointed. We typically start with a bottle of Txakoli SeñorÃo de Otxaran, a very good white wine with the aroma of ripe fruit and citrus. For starters I always enjoy the fried green peppers (pimientos verdes fritos) which are pan fried in olive oil and a touch of salt. The kids enjoyed a plate of chorizo a la sidra, chorizo sausages simmered in a saucepan with apple cider and cut into bite size pieces. We also tried the stuffed red peppers with meat for the first time (pimientos rojos rellenos con carne) served with a delicious brown gravy. Weâve sampled a variety of other plates from the menu including fresh fish selections, steak and lamb chops â all to our liking. I would recommend this restaurant for a relaxing place to dine and a great place to go if your dining with children.

Estuvimos comiendo un domingo. El sitio está bien, tiene varias zonas de comedor y la carta es variada: pollo, carnes, huevos, pescado, etc. Es mejor q las tÃpicas cerveceras. Para niños tiene una zona d columpios y mucha zona verde para jugar al balón. El parking muy amplio. La única pega que se hacen muchas colas para pedir. Lo tienen muy bien montado para celiacos.

We'd made a reservation. Table for 2 at 11:00pm. Arrived 5 minutes early and was told by the head waiter to go to the bar to get a drink. So far so good. Then the 'fun' started. We spotted two waiters carrying a table from a store area and place it in an area next to the used beer kegs and in an aisle. All the other tables were occupied and no one was going anywhere fast. We questioned the head waiter as to where our 'reserved' table for 2 was. He pointed at the recently placed table unceremoniously wedged in the corner in the passage way. When we flatly refused to sit there his response was initially one of indignation. He completely refused to accept that they had messed up and had actually given our table to a couple who'd arrived 5 minutes earlier. The reservation turned out to be an 'accomodation'. He then started to apologise by which time we'd decided not to eat there. My partner pointed out that this is the 3rd time in 2 years that they have done this to other friends. Be cautious if making a reservation here as you stand the risk of getting nothing at all.

We came to this place to have a special lunch with my boyfriend's parents. Its location is amazing, views of the mountains and Plentzia, right by the beach. Beautiful. The restaurant from the outside, looks a bit beaten up due to the weather. Parts of the inside could do with a bit of a paint job.The menu is straight forward with appetizers, mains and dessert. We had called ahead to reserve a table and to make sure they would have some sort of vegan option for me. Their website also shows veggie main dishes (grilled veggies, etc). So, everyone orders their food and apparently pimientos del paÃs are not in season (they are everywhere else). I opt for the asparagus to start (the only vegetarian, let alone vegan option). No grilled veggies or anything like it available, they offer to prepare a salad with tomato and spring onion, saying we should have called ahead so they could have planned better. The starters arrive, the asparagus starter is a plate of 2 pcs. My main dish, the salad, is straight forward, but too salty with way much vinegar. The atmosphere of the place is wonderful, but price/quality relation needs to be reviewed immediately.

Some of the best food around. Ask as sometimes they have something special such as sucking lamb or a besugo for four people and more. You can always ask for something special in advance from an alubiada to a shellfish grill. I've never been disappointed.
