Danilo Ciavattini Ristorante

Reviewed By monte2005

Danilo Ciavattini has a Michelin star, and it deserves it. The food is based on what is grown and available locally in Northern Lazio (also called Tuscia), and the wines all come from the Lazio region. Lazio made wines, especially the Grechetto, are not well known outside of Italy, but they are of a quality that stands up to Ciavattini's very fine menu. We had the tasting menu for 65 euros each, and the wine pairings for 35 euros each and thought it was a bargain for the quality that we received. The servers are very efficient and explain everything. There is nice pacing between courses, so don't come here for a rushed meal.

Il Grottino

Our restaurant is NOT vegetarian and doesn't have a Vegan specific proposal. It's not suitable for great family because too small. We write you because the present instructions produce misunderstandings to some customers of T.A. Thank you

Once again TripAdvisor didn't let us down ... If in Viterbo Il Grottino is the lace to go. The decor is typical of the restaurant's name ... The little cave... The lighting and background music perfect. The service and the timing of the courses ... Excellent.and what about the food ... ?Hand written menu with a choice 6-7 antipasti, 6-7 first and 6-7 second courses or a super set menu for just €25 which we didn't go for because we wanted to try some of the dishes which were not included. Antipasto della casa ... One portion is enough for 2... Delicious. My choice Tortelloni ricotta e pacchino and the Rabbit cooked in wine....Her choice ... Tagliatelle asparagus and guanciale + parmigiana ... Desert All fantastic. The best part .... Great value for moneyBravo Claudio ... Pity you are not in Rome!

I was looking forward to eating at the Fattoria as we'd called twice to book only to be told they were fully booked so the last time we booked for the following week so we could taste the food ourselves. We are I a cold and rainy Saturday evening and indeed it was full. The main room has around 10 tables with space for around 150 covers and is pleasantly decorated with nice and clean toilets. After sitting down we had to wait about 15 minutes before someone came to bring us the menus which was a little to long to wait. They could have least have taken our drinks order straight away and brought a little appetizer if they were busy. So first minus.First plus. We ordered pizza and one antipasto which was the mixed platter. I enjoyed the platter which was a mix of cured hams, various types of vegetables done different ways and a small selection of cheese. Second plus and second minus: The pizza was very thin but a little insipid for both adults but the kids liked theirs a lot.We asked that they bring the kids pizza with the antipasto which they did but they seemed to have forgotten about our pizza so much so as we had to remind them. The beer on tap is excellent especially the dark beer, highly recommended. Prices in the norm. All in all lots good things to say but a few minuses too.

Osteria Tanta Robba

We were fortunate to locate this restaurant when visiting Viterbo. We had just visited Villa Lante and the gardens for a few hours and had worked up an appetite. We didn't know if we'd have much luck finding somewhere to eat on a Sunday afternoon, but we found the Osteria Tanta Robba which was open until 3 p.m. for lunch, and it ended up being one of our favorite places to dine on our trip to Italy. The gentleman who waited on us realized we spoke English, so he helped us pick out some authentic dishes of the region, with fresh ingredients. He also helped me with a local wine. Everything was super delicious and the desserts were incredible as well. It was a super value for the quality of the food, around 20 euros a person. To top it off, the owner's family was eating there next to us, and their daughter was very adorable and came to visit us to practice her English. It was such a personal experience, and to enjoy food where the locals eat is truly the best way to dine when traveling. Many Thanks to the Osteria Tanta Robba and their family for making our vacation special!

OK, I have been to many, many places around the world. This place is the pinnacle of an amazing dining experience! The top, for value, pride in food, atmosphere, unparalleled value! What do they do to this meat? First the antipasti tray, OMG just look at the picture. Then the pasta, the ravioli, all incredible. The service is fantastic. The setting, rustic, stone walls, you just feel like you are back in time or something. The dry aged steak is out of this world. Soft, tender, tasty, juicy, just the best you can ever get. Four adults, two kids, with a liter of amazing local vino for 135 euro?! Make a reservation, go here. You will never forget it.

The restaurant, hard to find, is comfortable. The menu is limited but each and every dish we ate was extraordinary delicious and well presented. The tuna is absolutely divine. There is a research of excellence in this young crew, chef and service, creating this unique experience. Eating here in a pure pleasure, happiness, bonheur. The presentation is great, but over all the preparation, the taste and the flavor create a wonderfull dinner, more than a dinner, memories. They take great care of you as much as the food served to you.I cannot praise enough Chef Andrea and his small team. Mille grazie

L'Antico Casale

I haven't been to all the local restaurants, yet, but I'm surprised it seems to top the list. Don't get me wrong the service was attentive, food was good (we had pizza) and the price was ok. What we felt it lacked was warmth. The main restaurant is a huge tiled room with large tables well spaced from each other. If you are there for a wedding on a lovely summers day it is probably totally different but on a cold and blustery November evening it felt uninviting not withstanding the service. I was hoping for a warm inviting country house but what I got was cold and uninviting. Outside they have a decent garden area with a pretty pergola which strongly suggests their main business is in wedding reception market. One point on the food, we ordered pizza, fine. But they brought us an appetiser of thing focaccia which was very nice but not what you want when you are about to eat pizza! After a few slices of the focaccia she couldn't finish the pizza. Better would have been a lovely canapé that showed off the chefs skill and maybe might have brought me back to try something else other than pizza. I asked for a wheat or white beer but I got a lager. Not sure the waiter knew the difference. The prices were average.

Buongusto Piadineria

Reviewed By Fabelos

Speaking generally fast food and the typical Italian artisanal cuisine are an unlikely pair. But the young and nonetheless expert owner-chef of this little shop allows to taste high quality street food prepared on the moment, offering a series of interesting variations based on the traditional "Piadina" - or "Piada" - a thin Italian flatbread, typically prepared in the Romagna region. The piadina can be made of white or integral flour, all the ingredients are fresh and some of the offerings are also suitable for vegans. It's worth of mention also the beverages section that includes traditional, biological drinks like "Spuma" or "Chinotto" and artisanal beers.

We had a very pleasant lunch in a square just over the road from the main restaurant. The roasted vegetables with different types of mozzarella was more than enough for two people, as a starter. The zucchini, eggplant and red capsicum were grilled to perfection. The array of pizzas was most inviting and the sizes were enormous, so much so that we had to take the uneaten portions away.Total cost including a bottle of water “frizzante” came to €33.
