Province of San Jose, Costa Rica Food Guide: 4 French food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in San Jose

Reviews on French food in San Jose, Province of San Jose, Costa Rica. Vibrant and packed with Victorian mansions, Costa Rica's rowdy, bustling capital was built on the profits of the coffee trade and working "golden bean" plantations still surround the city. Try freshly roasted local beans at Mercado Central. For shinier gold, visit the Museo del Oro. Many renovated landmarks now house stylish hotels. Usually viewed as a hub, rather than a destination, nightlife is concentrated in Spanish village-inspired El Pueblo. Don't miss the elegant 1897 National Theater.

We had reserved a dinner reservation many weeks in advance and confirmed via email before we left the US. We walked to the restaurant (~10 blocks at night from a not great part of town...) only to have real difficulty finding it - finally ringing the bell for an apartment under the sign for La Terrasse. The person that finally came to the door told us that this was an Air BnB??!! We finally called the number on the sign and were told that the restaurant was closed that night??!! The owner said that they sent an email that morning telling us that they had cancelled all reservations that night!! (I did not have email access at my hotel and they made no attempt to meet us and try and find alternative plans for our special dinner.) I would NEVER encourage anyone from eating at a restaurant that treated people in such a way.Dear Sir, I sent you the same day at 7.26 am a letter on your mail (only way to contact you) to inform you that the restaurant had a significant leak of water from the upper floor. I left you a message on your phone at 3.58 pm that was specified on your email to try again to inform you of this problem. You were unreachable. At the end of the afternoon, you phoned me and I explained that I could not receive you in these conditions due to the water damage. I regret this incident. But it's beyond my control. Sincerely, Patricia Richer. I can attach a copy of my letter and the telephone message.

I visited the restaurant with mum and some dear friends. The restaurant is located inside Grano de Oro's Hotel. The atmosphere of this place is exquisite and absolutely unique in San Jose because the architecture of this hotel, despite is a recent work (modern) evokes the beautiful charm of Victorian architecture. There's a refined work of interior architecture and details which well worth a visit and which will make you feel you into another era.But not just the atmosphere counts, food is wonderful, tasty, refined and prepared with love and care.In the menu you can choose a wide variety of delicious dishes made with local ingredients and french cooking techniques, as well.I strongly encourage people to visit the place. It worth it!Luis Manuel Espinoza R.

We had a wonderful meal with a world class view. It was just a feeling but it seams this place is due for an updating of the menu and the decor. Not a complete over haul but just some improvements. Not a complaint just an observation on the other hand you should try this place for yourself I am sure you will have a memorable experience.

The ambience was great, the food outstanding and nice variety, good quality. FRESH!! Nice variety of cocktails. A bit pricy, but worth the money.Thank you. We are very pleased to know you enjoyed the Ambience, the Food and our Cocktails.Regarding the prices, we have a large selection of options that also include moderate prices you may have missed. Also i think it is important for us to say that there are a lot of items we need to import to execute some of our French dishes, which eventually has an impact on some higher-end plates prices we have on our Menu.
