I had a tradicional Costa Rican Casado but to my surprise the portions of rice and beans were the smallest I have ever had. I Complained with waitress about it.

Our first morning in Uvita, we had to be at Bahia Adventures for our Corcovado tour by 7am, so we wanted to find a place that was open early enough for a hot breakfast on the way. Based on our research beforehand, we thought that we could stop at the Dome, but when we got there, it was closed. So after driving up and down the road a bit, we figured we'd stop here, since we saw that a bunch of buses were parked in front and figured if the tours stop there, it must be good. Right? We didn't find out until two days later that the reason the buses were there is because this was, in fact, the bus station. lolAnyway, it's cafeteria style and they have a pretty big selection. I had rice and beans, and fried cheese (altho at the time I wasn't really sure what it wasâit just looked good when I was ordering and turned out to be very similar to a grilled cheese sandwich only without the bread). And they're open at 6am. (If you want another place that's open early, we're told that Bahia Bellena Restaurant is also open at 6am.)

Like the other reviewers, we came here after a Uvita 360 tour because of the proximity and because the tour guides recommended it. We were tired and did not want to go looking for somewhere else. We were not expecting much, but we were very pleasantly surprised, first by the attentiveness of the waiter, and then by the quality of the food. This is not a fancy place, closer to a simple soda (but with a more extensive menu). But the important things - service and food - were very good in our experience. If we had been staying closer (we were in Dominical), we would have returned for at least one more meal if not more.

I recently stayed for a second time here and again loved every minute of it. The place is very lively, comfortable, affordable and the staff is exceptional. Being in close walking range to the beach and surfing made the experience that much more memorable. I will definitely be back soon! :)

Loved the healthy options here, and this is one of the few restaurants in the area that has a nicer interior. Really, really good friendly service and the menu looks nice and healthy - lots of bowls with great sounding combinations. Unfortunately my poke didn't taste fresh, which kind of freaked me out. But I ate it and didn't get sick so that's good - but the fish component of my bowl was yuck. Everything else we had was great : My husband liked his quinoa salad bowl a LOT and the (seemingly, at least!) homemade gyoza we had to start was great!

Group of 4 came here for dinner. We sat by the bar side where it is more lighted. We ordered chicken, carnita, al pastor, and fish tacos. The chicken was dry and fish was just ok. Al pastor was definitely the winner.

Conventionally located near the Marino Ballena National Park entrance and several of the tour operators in town. We stopped here twice and very much enjoyed both visits. The first time was just for drinks with french fries and ceviche (to satisfy the diverse cravings among a hungry family) after a full morning on a boat tour. The french fries and ceviche were so good we had to order more of each! The other time we stopped was for dinner which was also very good. The fruit smoothies were exceptional as well. Reasonably priced and a perfect and satisfying stop after a long afternoon at the beach or on the water.

Owner and chef JazmÃn GodÃnez, presents a food experience like no other.The 4-course presentation includes integration of ingredients from her on-site garden and local organic farmers. Each dish is prepared with love over and open fire and includes layers of flavors as well as edible and medicinal plants. I was blown away by the level of technique used for each preparation and presentation. Not only is the food amazing, but Jazmin welcomes you like family. From the time that you arrive until the time you leave Jazmin is explaining each presentation including the benefits of the medicinal plants included. Definitely an experience not to be missed. Ballena Bistro is my favorite restaurant to visit when I am in Costa Rica. The owner, Liz is extremely hospitable and the food is amazing. When we are staying in Manuel Antonio, having lunch here is our favorite outing. The drive from Quepos is beautiful and the atmosphere at this restaurant is calm and pristine. I highly recommend the quinoa, kale dish but all of the food is delicious.Es una alegrÃa que siempre nos visiten, muchas gracias por el review, nos veremos pronto, pura vida.
