Having watched Giorione's television show we decided to try out his restaurant. Although reservations are hard to arrange we were able to book a table for Friday lunch on short notice. The menu is fixed price (27 Euros per person) with wine extra. The antipasto buffet was abundant and delicious. There were two pasta selections, both wonderful. The past was followed by two meat dishes, the first was rabbit and the second was a beef dish with almonds and balsamic vinegar. Dessert and coffee followed. The entire meal was in an Umbrian style with some twists. The local wines were well selected and reasonably priced. However the defining moment was Giorgone's presence. He greeted each table personally and made himself available for photographs. He is a gregarious man, gentle with children and very much enjoys his restaurant.

My husband and I had a late lunch here, it was recommended by our agriturismo. We shared a primo Lasagnetta Antonia, which was lovely. I had the pigeon and guinea fowl and my husband had turkey. The ambiance was serene, the service was very friendly, the food was delicious, and the wine was, of course excellent. I would definitely recommend and return.

I love to cook and use too much salt myself, but the main dish was way too salty (almost inedible). The pasta were very good though. The wine (Montefalco Sagrantino) we ordered was a disgrace and we left almost the whole (pricey) bottle untouched. There are so many good wine producers around Montefalco, so why serve something like that?

At last a restaurant where every plate of food delivered to our table was perfect! We were a group of 8 for lunch and we all ordered different things. All were outstanding. Beautifully presented, cooked fresh, served by lovely staff! We ate on the patio on a really really hot day, shaded by enormous umbrellas , and kept cool by a huge fan! Inside the restaurant is not huge, and booking is necessary, especially in the evening. I will definitely return to eat here, and Montefalco is absolutely worth a visit. I didn’t see any disabled access to the patio and it is down a steep staircase.

It is always worth walking up hill in Montefalco to get to Coccorone even if the temperature approaches 100 degrees Fahrenheit. While the beautiful terrace is not exciting in that kind of heat, the air conditioned interior is lovely in Tuscan colors with original art on the walls. You come to eat and eat well, starters of anchovies with butter and crisp baguette, stuffed zucchini blossoms melted in the mouth to be followed by an excellent white lasagne with eggplant. And sausage or a trio of grilled lamb chops that were devoured to the bare bone. Dessert was cheesecake with passion fruit sauce very refreshing on a hot day. Walter and Romina make you feel welcome and valued with superb service. They will explain any menu option. The speciality is bisteake ala Florentina on the grill, but while I dearly love red meat cooked very rare it was just too hot .

Enoteca L'Alchimista

L'Alchimista è una scienza il cui primo fine era trasformare metalli vili in oro. L'Alchimista per noi è l'intento di trasformare i prodotti della natura in piatti che possano essere "d'oro".

Tables are deservedly in high demand at L’Alchemista. The restaurant was easily the most popular of several competing in the charming setting of the town piazza. Food was a sensation - pasta carbonara with a little finely chopped zucchini, plate of smoked burrata, bruschette of mushroom & truffle and tomatoes alongside cured ham, followed by sliced steak (tagliata) dressed in Gorgonzola and chopped pistachio and a bowl of truffle tomato pasta. Somehow we still had room to share a wonderfully light tiramisu. My mouth waters remembering them all a week later. Clearly there is indeed a magician working very hard in the kitchen whose efforts are complimented by the efficiency and helpfulness of the waiting staff organised by an excellent maitre d’ whose recommendations of local or regional wine by the glass were spot on.Best dinner in a fortnight in Tuscany and Umbria.

Once more we returned for a wonderful Easter set lunch. This time the best location was the private garden to the rear with a substantial patio in the sun. It was a mellow experience on this lovely day. Menu was carefully planned and executed. We felt it was a little rushed for no particular reason and we were served by four different staff. Personally I like to try and establish a relationship with the serving staff in order to enhance the experience. Although we recognised some of the staff, that was removed from us.The overall experience was wonderful and very relaxing. Bravo!Dear reviewer, thank you for the nice words with which you describe us , knowing that at our tables you have once again found quality and service honors usAs for the clarification regarding the new "in pressing" dining room staff, I would like to point out that on Easter we were operating simultaneously in three different spaces (garden and two inner rooms). The staff that is usually found at the Locanda was not enough to guarantee a good service and the neophytes still have to learn to overcome the anxiety of the service and the emotion. We apologize for this but we expect you as usual for the August in Montefalco to attend the parade of drummers at the table of the Locanda del Teatro as, if I remember correctly, you love to participate.Paolo e Pasqualino

We have eaten at this recently opened Osteria/ enotecca for supper, lunch and occasional breakfast eight times in March and April. One evening meal was very good indeed as were two breakfasts. The coffee is good, but cappuccinos were not. But three other evening meals were very disappointing. Dry main courses and warmed up pasta, i.e. not freshly cooked were the main problems. The service was variable, sometimes ok, sometimes indifferent and even disdainful. Cappuccinos at most recent breakfast were served with longlife milk and stale cornetti. A great shame because when it is good it is very good. We will not go back until we hear they have got their act together.NeedDear Highbury19,thank you for sharing your feedback. We are glad that you have come to our osteria 8 times.. the problem is that we do not remember You! Are You sure you have reviewed the right place? We have this strong doubt also because your statements are not correct: we never serve warmed pasta and our cornetti with homemade jam are always fresh as well as the milk. We are very sorry because maybe you have confused our osteria with some other place, However, we invite you to come and visit us as soon as possible. Our best regards.

It's a new place run by young and talented guys, well decorated and cosy. The food was good and really plentiful, antipasto looked more like three course dinner. Pizza is giant, dough is thin and crispy. Nice place for dinner with a friends.
