Trip Advisor rates the Osteria della Madonna as the first restaurant in Pavia, and deservedly so. In the beautiful, medieval, pedestrianised city centre, not far from the river Ticino, the osteria takes its name from a fresco of the Madonna just above its door. It retains the character and the layout of an old osteria, but in the same time it offers you the food, the ambience and the service of a great restaurant - at the price of an osteria. The food was fantastic, joining pavese tradition with Southern Italian inventivity (where the chef comes from), but what was remarkable was the warm, kind, smiling professionalism of the whole staff. Wonderful.

The Restaurant is quite alright to reach, the view is outstanding and the halls are very cozy and welcoming.
We’ve liked everything we had, starting from the well-presented starters to end up with main courses .great Wine list but mostly we enjoyed the Grappa session with the taste and the explanation of each single kind of distillate and its origin and the make of. Much appreciated.
Slightly too expensive for the area but it’s the perfect gateway from the crowded cities during working days and weekends.
I would be back soon.

Ci siamo stati durante un assolato ma fresco Agosto.
E' stato semplicemente superbo.
Nulla di quanto servito può averci deluso e inoltre è stato così attento e carino da soddisfare anche le esigenze alimentari particolari di alcuni commensali, nostri compagni.
Aperitivo di apertura per accogliere i clienti, ma anche cogliere l'occasione di pubblicizzare i prodotti locali di produzione propria, tra cui vini formaggi e insaccati.
Portate molto abbondanti, come d'abitudine in queste zone (come ricordo da fanciullo). Il ristorante apre solo pochi giorni la settimana è lo spazio è davvero ridotto, da cui l’obbligo di prenotazione.
Cortesia e delicatezza della gestione in ogni modo e occasione.
Come potrei raccontare meglio, non posso.
L'unica ultima è quella di sentirmi, serenamente, invogliato a consigliarlo e farvi un opinione propria.

They offer a great variety of interesting wines, many of them not well known. The young owner/sommeiler is very enthusiastic and friendly. The food is simple, of the kind you'd expect in a wine bar, and of a high quality, with very generous portions. Very reasonably priced for the quality they offer. A pleasant, modern interior, with a soft classical music playing in the background. On the whole, a very enjoyable experience, highly recommended!

The fiorentina to die for. Reasonable prices for top quality food sourced directly from Tuscany. Other favourites include trippa Toscana and the parpadelle. Panacotta with choc sauce was also very good. All in all very good ambiance, fantastic food and service, not a rip off like so many roman restaurants tricking tourists. One of my favourite restaurants when I stay in Rome.

Ci sono già stato e quando posso ci ritorno! L'ambiente , il menù , la passione di Piercarlo nel lavoro, la cura dei particolari non effimeri ma di sostanza rende il suo ristorante una eccellenza ! Pochi fronzoli , molto ordine e tanto gusto.
Aggiungi un rapporto diretto e simpatico con i clienti e trovi la giusta ricetta!
Anche nel giorno di Pasqua (80-90 coperti) dove solitamente il servizio latita, da piercarlo siamo stati coccolati dal primo antipasto al caffè e ammazzacaffè , servito sempre con il mitico carrello dei desideri!
Antipasti eccellenti, su tutto salame della casa e coppa che era un burro, ma non tralascio anche i ceci in pastella, il farro mantecato con formaggio, la ricotta calda ...
2 Primi saporiti (tortelli di magro agli asparagi - risotto gorgonzola e frutta ) e ben 5 secondi compresi cinghiale e agnello ....
tre assaggi di dolce e per ogni portata il pronto bis a richiesta.
Vino di tre tipi già in tavola , due acque e poi "scaffale" disponibile per richieste specifiche di vini.
Rapporto qualità prezzo nella media , 40 euro a Pasqua. Bravi!
Consiglio per ogni occasione, dalla coppia all'evento .

We had a wonderful experience in this restaurant.
The atmoshphere and especially the food where superb!!
I choose this as my favourite restaurant in Italy, I've really never tried something so tasty!
I think that what makes that restaurant different from any other is the "obsessive" attention to the ingredients... the quality is incredible.
The chef is very creative and surprised us with very particular
combinations (for exemple I never eaten before a black pasta with seafood and a special kind of mozzarella)
The staff is very accomodating, they really are able to make you spend a
very good night.
Good selection of wines, mainly local.

Ambiente molto semplice e informale. Il proprietario e lo staff gentilissimi e cordiali ci hanno fatto trascorrere una serata veramente piacevole.Eravamo in quattro e ci hanno proposto il loro menù fisso: serie di antipasti, tre primi, due secondi, carrello dei formaggi e dessert. Ci siamo fidati e possiamo dire di essere stati soddisfatti cibo semplice e buono. Ottime le due bottiglie di Bonarda che ci hanno consigliato. Caffè e brandy finale per 28 Euro a persona. Una nota negativa con i secondi solo delle patatine fritte, magari qualche verdura non ci stava male

We tried this restaurant few days ago in the company of friends. We tried the "Tagliata di manzo con carciofi" and the "Tagliata di tonno" both were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Pleasant interior decor and atmosphere with nice portico with space for tables during the summer season. The pizza wood oven is visible from one of the restaurant sections. Good selection of local wines.
