Province of Munster, Ireland Food Guide: 10 Bar food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Doolin

February 14, 2020 Giuseppe Pratt

Find out what Bar restaurants to try in Doolin. Doolin (Irish: Dúlainn) is a coastal village in County Clare, Ireland, on the Atlantic coast. It borders the spa town of Lisdoonvarna. It is a noted centre of traditional Irish music, which is played nightly in its pubs, making it a popular tourist destination. There are numerous nearby archaeological sites, many dating to the Iron Age and earlier. Doonagore Castle and Ballinalacken Castle are also in the area. The area was officially classified as part of the West Clare Gaeltacht (an Irish-speaking community) until 1956, and, due to trade with the Aran Islands, maintained a strong connection to it until the 1990s.

Stopped by for a drink here and would highly recommend it . The pub is comfy and inviting , with its own little snug down the back . It also serves food , however we didn’t eat there, so can’t comment , but having perused the menu it looks like good value. A nice place to settle in for an evening .

RARELY do I give 5 stars. Rathbaun is pretty terrific. It’s a family owned and operated and evident through the smiles and genuine concern. The menu is simple yet covered everyone in our group including the vegetarian and vegan. There’s live music. Good music. Clap your hands and dance if you wish. Stay here too! Sweet little village near The Cliffs but just far enough so the crowds and prices are reasonable. When I return, I’ll stay here! I had lamb stew last night and seafood chowder tonight. DELICIOUS!

McGann's which has a higher rating than McDermott's was closed, so we went to McDermott's. We are glad we did! It was great! The atmosphere is pure Irish, the food was excellent, the beer cold and the staff friendly. I had the duck, which was maybe the best meal I've had in Ireland, and my wife had the prawns, which she also thought was outstanding. We sipped on a few beers until the entertainment started at 9:00. They were good as well and capped off a terrific evening.A very good spot!

Four of us ate here on Saturday 24th August for lunch we were greeted by the bar lady who gave us menus and explained about the specials she was lovely very friendly and helpful a younger girl came to take our order and was very pleasant too. The food was delicious very fresh hot and tasty very reasonably priced too. It was very busy but had no problem making us fabulous baileys coffees after we ate. We went up to the counter to pay and chatted the bar lady again who told us all about the charity biker festival that was on for cancer and about the September festival and local sites. She seemed busy they both did but still took time to chat. Very welcoming place very clean and great food. 10 out of 10 in all areas especially staff. We will be back sometime to check out all the sites of Clare.Hi Tigue35,thanks for taking the time to leave us the lovely review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit and in particular your baileys coffees. We would be delighted to see you back again sometime in the future. Kind Regards, David.
