La Dogana 1557 (Fondaco of the commerce or Dogana) rise in the ancient quarter of Portogruaro city, a step from the historical town center, with kind attention and hospitality, pleasant and elegant bedrooms, with air conditioned, TV and bathroom. The restaurant with its traditional cuisine with a wide choice of fish dishes for which the area is famous coming from the nearest sea town, Caorle and an interesting wine list……you are welcome
A lovely welcome from the lady of the house, followed by some beautiful food and wine made this probably the best eating experience that we have had in Portogruaro. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated, all the staff were welcoming and helpful and we are definitely coming back.

A wonderful spot in Venice surroundings, where the extreme attention to raw materials meets class and service for the real Italian dining experience.
Best choice in Portogruaro, especially if you're staying at the hotel Spessotto. Service is a bit "rough" but price/money ratio ok. Suggested.

We got to the restaurant at about 7.30pm and were a little concerned that it was almost empty. No need to worry, by 8pm there wasn't a spare seat and it was full of locals, there is no better recommendation.
We ordered fish and our waiter was quite apologetic that there would be a twenty minute wait, but that just confirmed that the food was freshly cooked to order. It was certainly worth the wait - fish wih polenta and a large mixed salad, very good house wine, too. They were doing a good trade in pizza, too, and these were freshly prepared and ready in a few minutes. A lovely restaurant with helpful, frindly staff.

La qualità del cibo è ineccepibile, tutto buonissimo e raffinato. Unica osservazione: in un locale che si rispetti si dovrebbe poter consultare il menu e la carta dei vini, cosa che a noi non è stata concessa.

First of all, the food is excellent at good prices.
Then, If you can, have dinner on the Terrace overlooking a very nice river
but I loved this restaurant for the quality of the way the welcome people.
Smiling, polite and helpfull waiters.
I went 3 times at the Boccale, two times with friends fro dinner and one time alone for lunch...always the same way to make your meal confortable.
Grazzie a tutti !

When travelling with motorbikes, you meet different people and different places. At our 2-week trip to parts of Italy (Volterra, Florence, Siena, Montepolciano, lakes - Garda, Tramezzino, Verona, Padova, Trento, etc), this was the best place to dine and stay over night.
The dinner was sublime, with great first course of gniochi and seafood salad and fantastic main course of tender meat with vegetables. Wine and other cold drinks accompanying the food was great too. What cought my heart the most was the very welcoming owner, who gave us the warmest welcome and when going home in the evening showed us the small town of Portoguardo at 11 p.m. The town itself has a great cosy climate and is not so posh as other places we've seen.
We also rented a room upstairs of the restaurant, which had a private tarrace, a/c and was furnished very tastefully. Another nice surprise was the price - only €60 per night for a double room.

Coming in Portogruaro for a masterclass of music,I have stayed at Agriturismo NOIARI for one week. I dont regret my choice !! I have loved this quiet place close to Portogruaro, an ideal place to practice music for hours between the lessons ...
The Hotel is a very nice builiding totally renovated, the rooms are terrific (very clean, large et confortable beds, TV, air conditionning, modern bathrooms.
If you stay there, do not hesitate to try the restaurant of the B&B: wide choice of quality meals, good local wines...Prices are very honest !!!
To end, I have been welcomed by MASSIMO always ready to help you and to make you a capuccino.
Thank you so much Massi for everything, you are the best !
your B&B is a wonderfull place. Be sure I will come back next year.

This is one of my favourite pizza houses. Our mother lives in Portogruaro and every time we visit her we also have a pizza in this great place. It has a good and interesting atmosphere - Western style! The owners and waiters are very friendly and accommodating. The service is good, pizza has a thin base and is tops - reasonably priced too. My favourite combo is pizza à la diavola with a tall red beer. I am told that the steaks are excellent too. No problem in recommending this place. TIP: Watch out for the mosies if eating alfresco in August !

The pizzas were fresh and baked right off from the oven. Plus you could taste the freshness of the ingredients as well. My only issue was that the crust was rather burnt for the most part so that was pretty disappointing though the taste was still in tact.
