Port Antonio is the capital of the parish of Portland on the northeastern coast of Jamaica, about 60 miles (100 km) from Kingston. It had a population of 12,285 in 1982 and 13,246 in 1991. The food is excellent as is the wine list. The cuisine is an exciting take on Jamaican style. All the produce is locally sourced. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

This little hotel is gorgeous and in the perfect location. It's literally right across the street from Frenchman's Cove, which has one of the prettiest white sand Beaches on the island (US$10 entry fee), but well worth it! San San Tropez sits on a little hill, slightly elevated and is surrounded by a beautiful, well-kept garden. There's a pool as well as a little restaurant that serves Italian food (Fabio makes the BEST pizza!). The rooms are all very well kept and have large king size beds and come with A/C, cable tv and good-sized working bathrooms with both cold and hot water!!! The water pressure is good, too! Also within a two minute walk, is another beautiful beach called San San, for which you can get free passes from Fabio (the owner of San San Tropez). This beach is a little more authentic than Frenchman's Cove...it's not as well groomed but does have a little restaurant that offers American (who knows why?!) cuisine. Frenchmans Cove has changing rooms, bathrooms, a nice well-priced restaurant, whereas San San doesn't offer all of those amenities, but San San does give you more of an authentic Jamaica experience. We love BOTH Beaches. Also, you can walk to Woody's (about a 20 minute walk) where they have really, really good burgers! Just be sure to call ahead of time, to make sure they're open. We really enjoy staying at San San Tropez because you have all the amenities to be comfortable...i.e. beautiful grounds, nice large well-kept room, swimming pool, cable tv, restaurant on site, super friendly owner...and let me not forget to mention his adorable son who is about 7 years old! As far as location, you can't beat this place. You can easily take a route taxi into Port Antonio, the Boston Bay area, Long Bay, or Winifred Beach, which is another beautiful beach worth visiting. Fabio's property is a GEM, and we cannot wait to return!!! We love everything about this place...if I had it my way, there'd be mosquito screens on the windows, and it would be nice if the restaurant would also offer some genuine Jamaican food, not just Italian...but this is not a complaint, it's just a suggestion. We'll return here either way!!! One Love!

We went there for dinner with another couple our 2nd day in Jamaica, per their driver's recommendation, and had the most DELICIOUS dinner, of 5 courses. The shrimp appetizer cooked in a fresh tomato was so good, the omelet with callalou, a local leafy green was so incredible, the fish with rice and beans and a sort of fresh made cold slaw (very fresh, not like american style but easiest way to explain it) was wonderful. The fruit after was great and the cake Dickey made was maybe the best cake i've ever had! We loved it! We had our dinner by candle light as there was an island-wide power outage, which made it super charming. We talked with Dickey afterward and he is so charismatic and awesome and wise. We really enjoyed that. He told us to come back for breakfast where he still does 5 courses and makes a typical Jamaican breakfast and some pastries and other things.
So later in the trip, we made the reservation in advance and traveled quite far expecting another awesome experience. It was very different though. We had corn flakes, instant coffee, lots of bread, some eggs and tomato on toast but I was already wanting something besides bread, and lastly an omelette with tomatoes that wasn't as good as the dinner appetizer one. Dinner had been so reasonable (around $30/person), but this much less satisfying breakfast cost us almost as much. We felt pretty bad spending almost $50 on breakfast for two, not including the cost of travel to get there. It felt like we were clearly tourists and we didn't get to chat with Dickey or feel as welcomed as at dinner.
So out of these two experiences I can just say go for dinner! It was well worth it. On top of that, Dickey gave us a bit of unforgettable Rastafarian wisdom on respect, what we can learn from other people, and not expecting things from our partner or loved ones. That made all of both experiences worth it.

One might ask why go to a “burger joint” rather than eat the delicious local cuisine? Woody’s provides a wonderful combination of the two. We’ve never been disappointed and family and friends who we’ve brought here agree. The juicy burgers topped with plaintain and served with house made sauce are great as are the veggie burgers with callaloo and plaintain. The house made ginger brew is strong and spicy and delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful, the bathroom is spotless. And, if you are there when Woody or Cherry are there, you’re in for an additional treat as each is a gracious host with a good sense of humor.

My husband and I had dinner here just before Christmas. We ended up being the only guests that evening (probably because it was midweek and raining), but we had a lovely experience.
We had the cod fritters, greek salad, mahi mahi and jerk chicken. Prices are in USD and on the higher side, but the portions were very generous. I was served 2 large mahi mahi fillets, which we could have easily shared. The chef came out personally to discuss how we liked our fish and meat cooked and afterwards to check if we were enjoying the food. Everything we had was delicious. Service was spot on - friendly and efficient.
After dinner, Steve, the co-owner of the hotel, came over and introduced us to ting-a-lings (white rum and ting if I remember correctly!) and invited us to come back for a tour of the resort and studio the next day. My husband is a big music fan, so we came back to take a look at the recording studio. The staff were so accommodating despite being busy getting ready for another session.
I can't wait to return the next time we're in Port Antonio!

This lady is an institution. She has a barbecue on the bank of the Rio Grande river at Port Antonio. You can only reach it by bamboo raft! I'm serious. You can google Belinda's Rio Grande Port Antonio and it will come up. This lady cooks the greatest spicy crayfish and fried chicken ever. Look at my profile- I've eaten all around the world, I'm not joking. I ate their today and it broke my heart to see other tourists rafting by and not taking their lunch there because they didn't know about it. This lady needs a break and Tripadvisor can help. Not out of sympathy, but just great food

I had heard about Miss Belinda and was hoping that I could get there. After gliding peacefully along the Rio Grande on the raft, it was with amazement that I first glimpsed Miss Belinda's stall in such an out of the way place! We were early and placed our order and took the opportunity to swim in the river before our feast. This amazing cook carries all the food down the mountain and then afterwards takes it back up again. When the heavy rains came two weeks ago, the whole place was washed away. But, as Junior said ( he provides the drinks - a lovely gentleman) they expect it and just set up again with the bamboo stands. She cooks it all over a wood fire in dutch pots. There were crayfish, but I had the chicken which came with plantain, pak choy,dumpling, rice and peas and an extremely hot pepper sauce. All this and at such a reasonable price. Do not miss the opportunity to eat at this lovely lady's place.

My husband and I eat at the Italian Job once or twice a week as it is our favorite in Port Antonio. There is something for everyone on the menu. The food is extremely fresh including the deliciously homemade bread. The Tiramisu is to die for! I will often call down to make sure they have it-- it is remarkable!!!! My current favorite item is the barbeque chicken Sandwich, but also love all of the pastas. The entire staff is amazing and have become like family. We bring all of our guests there. Great job GianMaria! Bravo!

Menu is limited. Quality of beef is average at best. Fish was very good 3 of the 4 times I had the Jerk Catch of the Day. Bottom line: Food is not why you stay at the Trident Hotel. The hotel is amazing, the food is a big bowl of okay.

This restaurant is beautifully decorated with twinkling multicoloured Christmas lights and flags from around the world (gifts from travellers). The owner is a former soldier who hosts guests with genuine care and the menu item everyone comes for is the crayfish (call ahead to ensure they have some!). Incredible food!!!
