If you like the cafeteria atmosphere you might like this place. The English menu is limited an no staff speak it.
Half the menu was unabalable when ordering.
Once you know kontum there are better places to eat although catering more for locals so you need to be able to communicate with your hands

My Tam

We went here based on a review from another site. Figured if both #1 and #2 have the same owner, and are only about a block apart...how bad could it be? Pretty bad.
My wife is Vnese and we travel quite a bit in-country, we're both use to the food; the good the bad and the ugly. This place was reviewed as having some of the best 'com ga' around, they must have gotten the special meal deal.
The waitress tried to push 2 meals on us for 80,000VND each, we just ordered 1 to be on the safe side and were very glad we did. What we got was colorful rice which was made somehow totally bland - the smallest serving of vegetables ever and about 1/3rd of a chicken that you could drive a nail with. We ate what we could, paid and left. We did find a few other small places in town for a better meal, on the street.

Have been several times now in Pleiku, and this seems to be the only restaurant, but not a street food place. so I liked it a lot very attentative stuff, ok you can not communicate to much in english, but does not matter, they have cold beer too. From the food it was really something different to normal vietnamese style, shrimp had better tast then at cost side enven though we are 200 km away. And chicken was really grilled and soft, maybe you could ask not to chop at serving, I dont like that tini fragments of bones. And for the vegis, marvelous small pumpkin with garlik, and some spicy things.
Oh and suitable for business lunch and dinner with private rooms.
This is like several Huts in a garden, really nice.
And one can of saigon is just 13000= less than 1/2 Euro

My Home Restaurant

My Home restaurant is an excellent place for who want to enjoy special Laos, Thailand and Vietnamese food in a quiet and clean environment. Besides, just a call, you can enjoy the local special dance and traditional activity. Going 10km from the center of Pleiku city, you will have a wonderful natural view with the rice fields and Mountains. Coming with your friends and family and having a great time with us.

While the restaurant caters to larger parties, I was treated very well as a solo diner. Loved the outside pagodas, and the ambiance. They don't speak much English, but they have WiFi so used Google translate to communicate. Good beer selection for Vietnam, so wines and spirits. Fish seems to be their speciality, but there are some fish and chicken items on the menu.
This is not a tourist destination, but a favorite for locals, with tourists very welcome. Menu is Vietnamese only, so that is another place for using a translator program on your phone.
I highly recommend The Family for anyone who enjoys the local culture, but if 5 star upmarket is your choice, not so much.

Cafe Thu Ha

Reviewed By Nguyễn M - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

I have lived in Ho Chi Minh City for 10 years, and whenever I go back to my hometown in Pleiku City, Cafe Thu Ha is always a must-come place on my travel list. Located in the city centre and next to "Pho kho Gia Lai" restaurant, where you can try the "Dried Pho" a very delicious local food among Top 15 Asia food.
Cafe Thu Ha business lasts for nearly 50 years, and since its establishment, local people always choose it as a third place in the morning after getting out of home and before office hours.
As Thu Ha is a verified coffee manufacturer, we can believe in their quality and be aware that the coffee is very strong.
If you come to Pleiku, the little mountain city, Thu Ha is definitely and place to visit. But remember that morning is always the best time for coffee and to see the local way of life. The drinking coffee is even better if you try the "Dried Pho" at the next-to restaurant. It's the way I do, the way a local does.

I discovered this restaurant while strolling around the city. I stopped in because of the welcoming faces and atmosphere. i had garlic prawns and rice with a couple of saigon beers. The staff here is very helpful and friendly and the food was delicious. Prices are very reasonable (like they are generally in Pleiku). I am planning on another visit tomorrow.

Kaffa Coffee

The coffee shop is located in a beautiful location with a modern architecture. Kaffa Coffee uses many tools such as Phin Vietnam, V60, Cold Brew, Aeropress, Syphon, Automatic Machine. Kaffa Coffee uses carefully selected green beans in Gia Lai, Dalat, Ethiopia, Kenya ... and is professionally made by Barista to create delicious cups of coffee. Have fun exploring coffee in Kaffa Coffee.

On my first trip here, I ordered the Americano. It looked more like two shots of espresso in a big cup (no hot water added), but it was still a delicious cup of coffee for less than a $1. On my second trip I order the ca phe sua da (iced vietnamese coffee with sweetened condensed milk - Vietnam's national drink) and it was equally good. I've had the same drink at other coffee shops, and perhaps it's because the beans weren't of the same quality as Kaffe's, but they just weren't as good. The woman working there speaks relatively good English and they have a menu page in English too. It's a pleasant place to spend a couple of hours, especially if you need to get some work done (the wifi is great!). If you're taking the bus to Kon Tum, the bus park is pretty close by.
