La Casa de Esther

Reviewed By fgon73 - Santiago, Chile

After so many years I finally visited Margarita Island and tried, twice, this amazing traditional restaurant. The food is simply extraordinary, with great combinations and variations of traditional Venezuelan dishes, such as "asado negro" and "bollo navideño". There are so many nice things to say about this restaurant that is hard to know where to start, from the beautiful historic house where the restaurant is located in Pedro Gonzalez, to the kindness of the entire staff, in particular Chef Esther Gonzalez, who spend a lot of time explaining the dishes in detail and making us feel right at home. This is a truly authentic restaurant that I strongly advice anyone visiting the island to go and enjoy. A must visit. Highly recommended!!!!

Positano

We ate here twice, not beacause we loved it so much, but because the pizza was very good and the meals were consistent and convenient. I had the 4 cheese pizza-very good the first night, OK the second night. The kids liked the pasta. Service, like in much of this island, is never great. The fruit drinks are always good. Conveniently located in the shooping mall.

Restaurant Marlin

Reviewed By dsc434232 - Chicago, Illinois

Located at the beachfront of Playa el Agua, Restaurant Marlin features a roof-covered dining room but is in essence an outdoor restaurant with open windows to let in the ocean breeze. Like the majority of restaurants on the Playa El Agua strip, it has a fairly broad seafood menu… My friend and I were craving lobster so we decided to split a lobster in creole sauce, and also tried a fish fillet in garlic sauce.
The lobster was huge and absolutely spectacular; it was served cut in half, with the lobster tail meat placed into the shell and covered in a sauce of fresh tomatoes, onions, carrots, and spicy peppers – it was a perfect blend of tang and sweetness. It was also impressive that the sauce had fresh ingredients, versus a puree, thereby allowing the creole jus to complement rather than dominate the natural flavor of the fresh lobster. There were a number of other lobster sauces to choose from and our server was patient at explaining the options to us. However, I would undoubtedly recommend the creole sauce.
The fish fillet (most likely a grouper) was moist and tasty, excellent but not remarkable. It was grilled in butter with parsley – simple but flavorful.
Unfortunately, we had had Bailey’s with Efe vanilla ice cream in the late afternoon (a dreamy concoction), so we did not have room to try any dessert. That said, Marlin is definitely a good spot to enjoy some fine food in addition to El Pacifico on Playa el Agua....but still an experience a notch below fine dining establishments in Pampatar such as Catabar and Casa Caranta.

7th Heaven

Reviewed By alfajag - Amsterdam

We recently went to the Caribbean island of Isla Margarita, situated just north east of Venezuela, and we discovered a host of delightful opportunities. One that stood out for us was a restaurant we frequented. We stayed at the hotel Coco Paraiso in Playa Agua and just across the street is where we found 7th Heaven.
This restaurant has a helpful and welcoming staff, some of whom could speak English, which is a bonus as much of the island is only Spanish speaking; the menu (printed in Spanish, English and Swedish) had a variety of dishes to choose from. Prices ranging from 10 – 20 USD and for this you could enjoy a selection ranging from fillet of chicken or beef served with a variety of sauces, a pasta alternative or maybe a choice from the seafood option. Lobster dishes are also available.
When we went there for the first time we had the fortune to meet the owner Runar. On our arrival he offered us a welcoming entrée known as Toast Skagen. This is a tasteful combination of shrimp and other ingredients on a small piece of sautéed bread. (see pic). Apparently, it is a Swedish delicacy and reflects the style of the Stockholm born owner of the restaurant.
7th Heaven has an inside dining area with a bar or you can choose to sit and lounge around on the beach. Either way your needs are attended to by the helpful staff.

Macao Beach Bar & Lounge

Reviewed By Jorge V - Salta, Argentina

I am surprised that I am the first one to write about this place as it is really awsome. By walking from the hotel to the beach we stopped by last Sunday.
Macao has a nice deck directly on the beach with great views through the palm trees over the ocean. We ordered the Pasta Marinera, my wife had a Pizza with all kind of fresh vegetables and peperono (don't remember the name) and my sister had a red snapper.
The pasta was al dente and the recomendation from the friendly waiter to have it "white" (butter only, no napole) was just perfect ! I tried a slice of pizza and it was one of the best I ever had. The red snapper was fresh and served with rice and vegetables.
And the very best of all: including a bottle on wine, I paid 25 US$ !
A really nice place with great food and good service !

Casa De Pedro

Reviewed By PauldeCanuck - Beeton, Canada

Finding Casa de Pedro's was truly one of the highlights of our vacation on Margarita Island. The friendly service, the freshness for the seafood and overall ambience was un-matched during our stay. Pedro and his staff (all like family here) always made sure their clients felt at home and were looked after in the highest of regards. Seafood??... absolutely the best we have had on ANY Caribbean vacation. The service was always top notch and we were always made aware of any mistakes we made in our beginners Spanish if we ordered too much of anything. The reason? You get more for your money here than you would in your own home!!! Try the Lobster Termidor ....sweet succulent, moist and best of all??.... it is enough for 2 people to relax and enjoy. Inside or on the patio overlooking the beach, you get a phenomenal view of the ocean. To Pedro, Duglimar and the rest of the staff, Thank you for making our lunches, dinners and visits a truly memorable time.
Gracias a mis amigos
