Stopped for breakfast on the way out of town and back home. The staff was very friendly, the food good and at a good pace. Each meal was more than we should have had but everything was good. I had a skillet with a side of eggs, over easy with an English muffin. The skillet had about everything in it and was done well, not too soft and not too hard; but way too much to eat! everyone else truly enjoyed their meal.

A little more upscale & somewhat more expensive than your typical north woods “supper club” , our experience here tonight was better than expected, given some recent reviews of this place.

Menu is more extensive & unique than many other local restaurants, and our choices (I had the pork chop & my wife had the rib eye) were well prepared & delicious, as were the salads & squash. Service could not have been better. We’ll go back soon

Large breakfast buffet. Good ranges from about any meat product, to potatoes of several choices, eggs in a variety of preparations, various sweets with fruit sauces, gravy and biscuits. Also can order from the menu. Very friendly staff and owner. Eager to please.. Ask if they can change anything for an individual or group. Went to brunch twice. Also have evening meals and full bar service.
Recommend a stop if in the area.

Sand Lake Pub

Reviewed By jjbeagle95 - Saint Johns, Michigan

We've been to Sand Lake Pub and have ordered take out several times over the years. We ordered take out last week and when I showed up to pick it up, the place hadn't changed a bit. It's a bar in the northwoods that serves food. Can't expect super high quality charm. They don't have a to go menu, and they do not take credit or debit cards, though there is an ATM on premises that charges $2.50 per transaction, so you can pay your bill in cash. The burgers were good. Not great, not bad. They were good. Decent prices, too. Burgers come with chips and a pickle. Fries or onion rings are extra. Regulars are always around, which is a good sign, of course. Decent place to pick up some food without having to drive too far.

The chicken sandwiches are awesome! The beef sandwiches too. The prices were great. It is right on this little lake and has a great deck to enjoy the view. The staff was super friendly. It is off the beat path and worth the little bit of effort to go.

Brew's Pub

Our group of six had a very good lunch in this well decorated sports bar. Every space on the wall and most of the ceiling was filled with memorabilia -jerseys, pictures, magazine covers, baseball, bats, etc- mostly baseball and football. The dining tables are decorated with bubble gum cards of sports figures. You could spend a lot of time sipping a beer while you check out all of the artifacts. Three of us enjoyed tangy chili with a side of garlicky (wow!) cheesy bread. The others had a BLT, a hamburger and a Reuben, respectively. All of the meals were very good and at a reasonable price. There were six tap beers and I enjoyed my Summit IPA. The Pub was busy for a midweek day when it was not the tourist season. Must have been the locals. We will stop in again when we are in the area.

Seated and forgotten. Hostess finally realized, apologized to us and our waitress arrived 5 minutes later. The table next to us experienced the same issue and looked equally displeased. I can't blame the hostess completely, as the waitress was heard apologizing to each table for major delays Seems to be everything was a STALL tactic. It was a busy night but the waits once seated were not appreciated. We were in the bar/restaurant for 3+ hours for a simple fish fry. Food was good if you want to chance the wait on a busy night.

We recently went here for a breakfast and it was excellent.

I ordered the 3 eggs over easy, hash browns and a slab of cut ham with fresh sourdough toast. It was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had at a smaller town cafe.

The owners operate and prepare your food and are always making sure your coffee cup is full.

Hours are usually morning through early afternoons and whether your choice of sitting at the counter and mingle with the locals or the dinnig room you cannot go wrong here.

Excellent portions and quality is definitely shown in the preparation of your order. Their menu is a diverse menu from your normal breakfast items to lunch items, depnding on the time of day.

My wife had a veggie omlet and she definitely loved it as she sometimes can be picky, so it definitely was great.

For Fall and winter visitors they will be open as they are the ones that are on the main street and you cannot miss them. Summer hours will depend on next year of 2013.

Currently they only except cash, so bring your money as they do not take plastic at this time. It is a hometown cafe with hometown and home style cooking and you should not walk away hungry.

Overall, when I am in the area of Northern Wisconsin this will be my new stop as prices are better then Eagle River or Conover area places, that charge the Chicago prices for tourists and residents alike.

So go enjoy one of the better breakfasts in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
