Old Mexico Restaurant

The food was really just ok. The rice and beans are decent. Although the beans had very little flavor and seemed diluted. The chicken taco was decent and they were able to do it soft shell. Chile Relleno was a disappointing mush of chile strips and cheap cheese. The enchiladas were mushy. This happens when premade and tortilla turns to mush. The beef filling lacked flavor and the cheese filling was cheap cheese food like. In Mexico they use real cheese and fresh ingredients. The decor -- saltilo tile and plaster walls -- is charming and the most authentic part of my experience. If I try Old Mexico again I would order the tacos with soft shells and rice, hold the beans.

I pulled off the highway with low expectations but was very pleasantly surprised. Nice friendly service From Rafael and they didn’t laugh at my Canadian attempt at Spanish. I had a combo plate with potato burrito (first for me) a spinach enchilada and a bean chalupa. It was a great combo. I ordered extra guacamole but had trouble finishing it and there was some in the combo. I’m really glad that I pulled off here and I hope I can find it again on my next trip through. Note: very clean, including the banos (bathroom). Muchas gracias.

One of our favorite lunch stops. You can add whatever you want to your choice of entrée, making it healthy or not, Veg., chicken, beef or pork. My husband likes the rice bowl. Always friendly employees.

I have to be honest--we tried this restaurant because we had a coupon and wanted to go somewhere new. This restaurant has only been open for a month or two, so we decided to give it a try. They have a nice menu with dishes containing seafood, beef, chicken, and even vegetarian options. The complimentary chips and salsa were good--the salsa is a little on the milder side, so no one has to worry about burning their mouths! I ordered a mango margarita and it was delicious--but be sure to mention whether you want a small or jumbo--I didn't and I had a jumbo! My husband ordered a dish with a Mexican name that I can't remember but it was shrimp, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, and fresh cut avocado over rice, garnished with cilantro. He said it was the best meal he'd ever had in a Mexican restaurant. I had shredded beef chimichangas with a mild cheese sauce, with rice and beans on the side. We were both too full for dessert, which I regret because they have sopapillas on their menu and I love those! Maybe next time! The service was prompt and polite, which is really all I ask of restaurant waitstaff. Our bill, even before the discount, was under $40, which is a fair price for dinner and drinks. We will go back--even without a coupon!!
