Food was great here, but it's almost insulting that white rice is a la carte, especially for the prices they charge. I mean, $16 for lentils (daal)? Seriously? Sorry, but there are plenty of other Indian restaurants in the area that are just as good, and that charge a lot less (12.95 for daal at another place whose name I will not mention, and it's just as good if not better. And they give you rice with it). The inside of the restaurant is very upscale, which may be the justification for charging so much, and for nickel-and-diming your customers. I've never had to pay for a side of rice in any Indian restaurant I've ever been to. So I wish Aman's luck, they seem like nice people and the food is tasty. But they'll alienate their customer base with these prices to the point where people will go once to try it, but they will not return. This local will not be returning because I can get great Indian food for less money at quite a few other places. And they include a side of rice. LaBurladdora, thank you for dinging with us, we truly appreciate your patronage. While I understand your critiques, and I am not here to change your mind, but do note, not all Indian restaurants are the same. Much like you can get a steak or pizza at a franchise or a proper established restaurant, Aman's is striving to elevate the standard of Indian dining. We do not take shortcuts or compromises in preparing our recipes, we procure high quality ingredients and groceries to make our award wining cuisine and that is reflected on our menu. This also includes the top quality basmati rice that we use. Other restaurants may give complimentary rice and hide the costs, but we want our patrons to explore the various options of bread and rice selections that can be paired with all our entrees. We hope you enjoyed your experience and we get a chance to serve you again if you come back. Blessings and cheers.
