Puri Dajuma Cottages

What if Bali had another face to show us? That of a genuine and authentic miraculously preserved Shelter of breathtaking and luxuriant landscapes, fastened by a wild coast which extends ad infinitum, sublimated by bewitching sunset: This is in a few words what West Bali looks like.Though unknown, this area of the island of gods invites to escape and amazement. The rich inheritance of Bali Barat National park offers a wide selection of treks to observe a very rare fauna and a flora. The park extends underwater around Menjangan Island for the greatest fun of our hosts. The villages of Western Bali invite to discover Balinese traditional craft industry, ancestral music of Jegog or multi-colored buffalo's races.Far from the urban concentration of the Balinese south, Dajuma Beach Eco-Resort & Spa has been welcoming its guests for 14 years to discover a different Bali. Not only its 18 roomy and comfortable cottages, 2 stylish suites and a luxurious villa by the sea are harmoniously integrated into the landscape but they also put our hosts at a privileged position to appreciate the beauty of the scenery.Indeed, the architects of the boutique hotel took care that each traditional setting room offers a significant private area and all the comfort of a 4 star resort (king size bed, air-conditioning, fan, telephone, mini-bar, bathrooms interior and open air shower in a small tropical private garden, hot and cold water). Gourmets will appreciate the varied chart of the 2 restaurants including a Japanese Teppanyaki table grill, while enjoying the panoramic ocean view. Dajuma outstanding hospitality team, with the greatest discretion and delicacy, makes its guest stay a particular and very personal experience. Calm and serenity of this particular place, where time is only cadenced by the tides, give relaxing holidays accompanied with bath in the crystal-clear swimming pool, massage or Jacuzzi in the spa. However, everyone can have a great fun thanks to this marvelous environment which offers many activities: beach, trekking, surfing, fishing, diving, visit of a state farm, temples, markets, volcano treks, sailing. Everyone will thus find the ideal balance of a personalized holiday, combining authenticity, serenity, escape, harmony, comfort and adventures.

Place from my dreams!

Absolutely wonderful place! I've spend there one of best holidays in my life. Resort is beautiful, from every single details like decoration in the room to the view over the sea. Room was more than comfortable, I love the bed, slept very good. Food delicious, chef is very talented, we asked for surprise dish and it was super tasty. Service is perfect. And I'm not even mentioning kilometres of empty clean beach to walk and swim! For sure I will come back.

Well where do I start

First of the staff are great and do all they can to help. As per previous review the first impression is ok. Then you see that some buildings have holes in the roof and are clearly unused and not maintained with broken concrete plants growing out of the thatch and peeling paint which very much disturbed the view from our balcony and this spoils what I’m sure was once a nice looking resort. Ok then to the food. Two times we had to complain that the food was not fresh in fact it was off. Staff dealt with politely and efficiently when guided by myself on a resolution (I have worked in hospitality for many years as a business owner) but as the resort does not have a general manager (which we found bizarre) the local staff are nervous about complaints and untrained in this area. Next was the hammering and chiselling starting at 0730 in the morning at a “retreat” and with power tools started at 0800 on the new constructions which had clearly been ongoing for a very very long time with only one construction worker. This noise disturbance was very disappointing as we choose this resort as it claims to be a “retreat” but there are no “retreat” activities. So I would have liked to given 4 stars just because of the staff but the downsides took it down to a 3 star review. Ok our room was one of the most modern there but atrociously maintained with a door missing one the wardrobe amongst a host of offer small details which will take to long mention adding up to a very tired room. Also there is no room safe so this should be taken into account if you need one for passports and valuables. Now if the owners of the resort are replying to the reviews as it seems they are then they will ask why I didn’t discuss this with the resort staff; simple answer is that there isn’t a manager. Ok a couple of general points are that the resort is on the main Denpasar road to the West of Bali and is extremely busy and as such you will need a driver and the pre arranged rates for a driver and car are the highest we have seen in Bali. We have stayed in 7 different resorts across the whole of the country. Let’s talk about the Bay. This is the worst eco disaster we have ever seen on a beach. You literally cannot sit on the beach due to the tons of local waste. The positive side of this was that the staff are attempting to clean it daily which is admirable but an impossible task. This needs a massive country wide intervention. Do not go here for a beach holiday. So to finish I must say that we decided to overlook all of the negatives and continue our stay simply because of the great staff.

Staff just couldn’t do enough for us!!!

Wow. We arrived and was greeted with such a warm welcome. We were showed to our room and it was beautiful. We were on the top floor. The bed was a dream!! It was so clean and luxurious. We came here to surf. The hotel staff arranged lifts to the beach where you surf - surf was great. The food here was incredible!! We felt really looked after!! They also organised us a lift from here to north bali! Granted there wasn’t a lot around in terms of tourism but we found that to be amazing. This is how I imagined Bali to be like (not like Kuta etc). This place is also a short walk down to a pebble beach which has a really nice bar. Couldn’t recommend this place more as a quiet, secluded retreat.

Each of its villas is surrounded by luscious vegetation featuring indigenous flora and fauna which guide you to two infinity pools and an enchanting beach. The villas are spacious and contemporary, an eclectic mixture of European and Indonesian design. Villa terraces offer a comfortable day bed and open up to the natural beauty surrounding the retreat. Seventeen of the villas have their own private pools, closer to the beach or set back within their own lush private gardens. The Spa overlooking the ocean offers an array of massages and treatments. The yoga platform has twice daily yoga, meditation and relaxation sessions. The retreat is a haven to truly relax and recharge. For adventurers, many trips are on offer.

Bali, rediscovered

What an incredible little resort to escape to! Perfectly located on the pristine black sand beach of Pekutatan, our favorite activity was a family sunrise and sunset walk every day. We would collect shells, children would discover marine wildlife and it really makes you experience how beautiful and quiet life was in Bali before all the development. A great family getaway for families to do activities together but most importantly, just to decompress! Ibu Isma and Gordon are the nicest s hosts, we already are looking forward to our next family escape!
