If you're looking for Belgium's answer to Fawlty Towers then this is for you!
Rude service with children catered for by an offering of Pigeon Soup washed down with Green Iced Tea! We left after only ordering the 10 euro bottle of water and, even though we had paid for it, received a barrage of abuse for not staying!
Roberto's 100 yds down the road was much more like it with excellent food and service (be sure to try the rose Prosecco!).

This place is really worth the visit. It's also a B&B. The style is something between burlesque and antique, really impressive.
We had lunch there during the week. The menu is limited but really Italian. I had a great home made pizza, really delicious.
If you're in the neighbourhood, I would really advise the detour.

This restaurant actually is called 't Oud Stadhuys - it is indeed located in the renovated old town hall.
For honest money, we got nice plates. The asparagus main course (with salmon) was delicious. And the also have an asparagus desert. It was a special, true, but the cook knows what he's doing, so I'm pretty sure next time something equally astonishing will be on the menu. A sweet dish that surprises your palate. It's nicely decorated, clean, bistro-style. Very nice and helpful personnel. It is connected (literally, by means of a tunnel) with the nearby hotel (De Boskar).

Een gezellige zaak waar werkelijk iedereen zich thuisvoelt. Alleen voor een hapje, een snelle simpele zakenlunch voor twee, jong gezin met kinderen of gewoon onder vrienden. Ieder zijn meug. Geen hoogstaande menu's maar simpele gerechten met smaken zoals het hoort voor een prijs die je nergens nog tegen komt. Bijwijle dus flink druk maar als je dan wat geduld hebt ga je daarna gegarandeerd tevreden buiten. Aanraders: spaghetti carbonara, witloof met ham en kaassaus en natuurlijk de onweerstaanbare angus beef burger.

Brasserie Max is a quaint restaurant with authentic Belgian cuisine, they have unique takes on staple dishes and excellent service. I've visited the restaurant several times throughout the year and love their menu in each season, especially the "wild" menu in the fall and winter which features a whole range of hearty game. In the summer they have a huge mussel menu too that ranges from the staple white wine to unique flavors like moroccan and eastern. If you're looking for great Belgian food definitely make sure to stop here, one of my favorite restaurants in the world hands down!

Great little place, warm, nicely decorated, with a friendly owner. Had the Schnitzel and it was great... If anything too much food. Would strongly recommend!

I stopped by this place for lunch with my wife while killing an hour or two in Peer.
We had lunch on the terras in the back, which is quite pleasant and sunny.
We ordered goat-cheese/bacon/apple salads. Service was quick and friendly.
Unfortunately the salads were not up to par. They were filled with unpeeled fruits (melon, kiwi, clementine) and tasted unrefined.
The bread served with the salads was very fresh and tasty.
This place is not cheap either.
Would I recommend to a friend ? Probably not.
Will I return ? Probably not.
