Went here on a short trip. Booked a comfort room for three days. Rooms are clean and spacious. Do miss a few things: airco, coffee/thee and a small fridge. Rooms get hot in the summer and are not easy to ventilate. Breakfast/restaurant is good and with friendly staff. Hotel is located close to the sea yet in a quiet area. Enough parking facilities.

Tired, unloved and needs attention

Reviewed By AYS80

This resort is quite tired and needs refurbishment, together with some modifications to enhance health and safety and overall guest enjoyment. 1) the general grounds are mostly overgrown and there are a lot of poorly maintained areas. If your cottage has a garden, expect it to be unusable except for the patio area. 2) If you get a VIP cottage, you’ll get a ‘bathroom pack’, ‘kitchen park’ and towels. The bathroom one has three tiny sample bottles of shampoo & shower gel and a single tiny bar of soap (to be used with four sinks?!), the kitchen pack has just 2 dishwasher tablets plus a cloth, and the towels are thin and below-average size. As a result, don’t be misled into thinking you won’t need to bring these sorts of provisions; bring your own because these just aren’t suitable for a family. Unfortunately, this meant we wasted a morning going to a local supermarket to purchase items that we could have otherwise brought from home. 3) on site shop is ridiculously expensive… €6.99 for a standard bottle of shower gel. 4) Food labelling in the restaurants is terrible. If you have an allergy or are veggie/vegan, then good luck. I asked a member of staff if one particular dish on the buffet was vegetarian (no label with the item), and his response was, “Well, it could be, but I expect it might have meat in it”. Right. Ok then. 5) Pony rides… the pony’s are very docile, but if you book your child on to a ride, don’t expect a safety check, don’t expect stirrups to be adjusted, and your child will probably be wearing a cycle helmet instead of a proper riding hat. Given that there are lots of kids flying around on bikes on the same routes that the ponies are on, it’s very possible that a pony could get spooked by a careless/unobservant cyclist. In that situation, the child wouldn’t have a clue what to do as they weren’t told how to sit, where to hold onto or any such details. A lead rein walker is often the parent, so if you have equestrian experience, great. If not… good luck. 6) Hand towels in public toilets… I’m 5’ and struggled to reach some of the hand towels after washing my hands. How the hell are children expected to dry their hands when the towels are right up that high? 7) cottage staircases are incredibly dangerous. They are tiny spiral staircases made of varnished wood. You are safest going up them using both hands and feet, and heaven help you if you’re trying to get a suitcase up or downstairs. We had to ensure we accompanied our 6-year old downstairs when he needed the toilet in the night, as it was just too risky to let a sleepy child do it alone. I would have been livid to attempt going up and down those stairs with a baby. Very dangerous. 8) the cottage bathrooms are all downstairs, which is a nightmare for children who need the loo in the middle of the night. 9) staffing/lifeguards in the pools are insufficient and don’t pay much attention. They avoid altercations, even when older kids in the pools are behaving very dangerously. A large group of boys (20+) were acting very intimidatingly in the pools, which is frustrating given the amount of young children also using the facilities. A fight broke out between two of them, and I had to tell them to stop whilst the lifeguard pretended he hadn’t seen anything. The staff need serious training on accident prevention and they need the confidence and back up to intervene if required. It’s a shame these issues clouded our otherwise lovely holiday. The location - near a fantastic sandy beach - is truly wonderful and the scope of activities and facilities was generally good. We probably wouldn’t return to this resort.

A very warm Dutch welcome

Reviewed By JabbaHedon

We were on a cycling holiday, riding from Zeebrugge to Rotterdam along the coast of Holland. We had arranged to stay at some B&B's along the way, this being one of them. Honestly, this place is fantastic. From the second we arrived we could not have been made more welcome. The room was spotless, modern with everything you could want. Our host's, as was no surprise from the Dutch, were amazing people...so friendly..so polite..and VERY helpful.r There is a kitchen/dining area which has all you could want. Coffee machine available free of charge...bottles of water in the fridge free of charge. Also cans of Coke and beer in the fridge for a mere €1 each....seems more than fair me. It is located a couple of minute's walk away from the centre of the town...which has plenty of places to eat and drink (Bonus ha ha). You will NOT be disappointed staying here..we WILL be going back. You cannot beat the feeling of booking somewhere hoping it will be okay....then when you arrive you find it's so much better than that.

Prima uitvalsbasis

Not as good as can be

Reviewed By favdk

We had a 8 persons house ( 3 guests). The house is spacious, well equipped. It is fairly sparsely furnished and is very echoey. There were 4 bedrooms upstairs, 1 with a tv and 1 with a en-suite shower room. The shower room was extremely smelly, so we moved bedrooms. Pillows are 100 pct polyester and not comfortable: mattresses are very basic and all single, loose on top of the bed. Shower in bath room is pleasant. Stairs are open and very steep: there is a fold away stair-gate at the top of the stairs. Very dangerous for small kids There are no facilities on the park: entrance by car is between 0700 - 2300 hrs. Ample parking near most of the bungalows. Facilities are either on the adjacent camping or a kilometre away (shop & snackbar). The bistro on the camping was closed when we were there (first week of April 2022) You could expect more for the money ….
