Arbol de Montalvo restaurant is located in the back of our hotel Dona Esther. Please walk in on every night except Monday nights. During the weekends we're also opened for lunch and breakfast is of course every morning available (we have a nice choice in breakfasts, $ 4). <br>Our menu highlights the Ecuadorian ingredients; we always try to find a way to cook something special with the typical and many ingredients of the country, packed in a different dish. For example the "pollo del arbol", chicken with a surprising sauce of "tomate de Arbol", or tamarillo. <br>And of course we also serve pizzas, but pizzas in a wood burning oven with home made dough and good quality toppings. <br>The atmosphere is cosy, no rush, we prepare everything fresh.<br>We hope to see you soon!

We went to this restaurant based on reviews from TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. We were the only family in the restaurant on a Sunday (late) evening and were well taken care of by Adrianna. Adrianna was wonderful in helping us order with our limited Spanish. As a group of 2 adults and an 11 yr old girl, we split 2 apps and one pizza and were completely full. The shrimp in orange cream sauce was to die for!! We all agreed we could have ordered it as an entree. The satay was good, but nothing amazing. The pizza was cooked by Freddy in the pizza oven over hot coals and was delicious. The restaurant provided a hot cinnamon drink with some popcorn while we waited for our appetizers and pizza. Overall it was a lovely atmosphere, excellent and friendly service along with top notch food. Do not hesitate to visit this restaurant when you are in Otavalo.

Mi Otavalito was my favorite meal in Ecuador. Amidst the hustle and bustle of Plaza de Ponchos, Mi Otavalito is a pleasant respite. My pepper steak was absolutely excellent, easily the best I had of 4-5 well-reviewed restaurants in Ecuador. I strongly recommend Mi Otavalito!

This is a welcome find for pie lovers, since Pie is not one of the main Postres of Ecuador. The have a good choice, differs depending of the day and time, even have lemon meringue sometimes, and Pineapple pie which I like. Convenient for taking a break from shopping in the market, and refueling for another run.

Everything we had was nicely presented yet overcooked and or cold. Pork on Plato tipico was cooked to table shaking toughness. It honestly seemed left over from previous day and rewarmed. Mashed potato cakes which are delicious when hot I'm told, were stone cold. Cheese soup reported as excellent however. Clean attractive place for tours groups no doubt, but Zero effort to make food do anything more than look nice when set before you.

This has become our favorite "date day" cozy spot. The outdoor Seating is perfect for watching the bustle of the Otavalo market. Good food and a great selection of artisan beer and I order a large glass of wine with a very generous pour. Nice ambience to the place and the staff is very friendly. Our favorite meals are the pasta plates!

I really enjoyed the sandwiches which were a treat and hard to find in other places in Otavalo. The desserts are the best, especially the chocolate cookie served warm with ice cream!

Food and service were exquisite. Meals are set menu. A starter, a choice of totally organic, locally sourced salad or a soup, the three main courses offered were a delicious smoked pork chop and fish (Ronaldo). The three of us had those choice a third main course was artichoke crepes. The desserts were wonderful too. Try the homemade ice creams with anything, it's that good..

I went twice in two weeks and both times I sat for over 20 minutes waiting to place an order. There were no other customers and at least three visible staff walking around. Yesterday, I paid with a $20 bill. They had no change so ran out to get some but instead of hurrying back, they did food shopping! Everything I’ve had here is good, but there’s no excuse for the service.

Looking to change it up a bit we found this little Mexican restaurant for a change. Food was expensive by Ecuadorian standards but worth it. Free handmade chips and guacamole were excellent. Burritos and tacos tasted good as well. This was the best choice for Mexican food in Otavalo

We stayed here for two nights. It was very comfortable. It was cool, but each room had a heater, so we were fine. We ate several meals here while we were staying at the hacienda. The food was excellent. It is an old hacienda, so we walked around the beautiful Gardens and toured the house. It seems to be family run. Everyone was attentive. There was free wifi in the halls.
