Good evening and welcome to Utogaria. Izakaya has been essential Japanese casual restaurant to experience Sake and various dishes for generations. We would offer this Izakaya concept in both authentic and modern style to connect today's generations. We wi

Hate to be the one who breaks from the group on this place, but we went based on Trip Advisor reviews and what I read in those reviews didn’t equal our experience. To be completely honest, this place seems very trendy, I’m not a fan of trendy. Seemed very popular w the under 30 crowd, and except for one group all local couples. I highly suggest you make a reservation. We arrived at 6:30 and were told to come back at 8:00. We walked the neighborhood, which is a bit outside the tourist area so not a lot of places to grab a drink. When we arrived back at 8, we did have two seats at their counter waiting for us. The place is small and was full this evening. In the first level, sits about 10 at the counter another 5 or so at another make-shift eating area next to counter. Never made it to the upstairs. Ordered two glasses of wine, two of their specials-one sashimi tuna, one raw oysters. Forty minutes later we still were waiting for the sashimi-I mean their raw, how long does it take? The oysters were fine as was the wine. While waiting, we ordered two more small plates but just got tired of waiting and decided to leave. We did get an English menu but no one really talked to us, no one really assisted us and everyone around us kept getting food while we waited-it was a very strange experience, not indicative of our time in Japan. The prior reviews mentioned such a “warm welcome” and “such helpfulness” but we didn’t experience anything resembling those reviews? Maybe on a slower night, they have more time available to assist the English-only tourists. To be fair, they did get us two seats but we felt like an inconvenience. With so many great reviews, maybe we just had a rare bad experience. However, it was bad enough for us not to try again. Went w three stars because anything lower I reserve for rude behavior or horrible food. We received neither.

Harukoma is a small sushi place in Tenjinbashisuji. The sushi servings are generous, and are affordably priced. Quality is likewise excellent for the price. Must visit!

We chose here because the okonomiyaki lovers among us could have one (or more) of the delicious varieties available, whilst the meat eaters could have a plate of meat teppanyaki - and we could all share a yakisoba, yakionigiri, edamame, salad....okay, we ate heaps. And the bill came to just over ¥10k for four of us! Really loved it. Small place so if you are a larger person may ask for a seat with space... am sure they’ll oblige!
