Back for a second visit

A great place to commune with and observe nature . There’s no need for curtains as there is no one to see in and no light to shut out. The jungle noises send you to sleep and wake you in the morning. It’s hot but the room is cooled with a fan and fresh air. Toucans,Macaws, squirrel and cappucin monkeys are all around, along with various butterflies including the blue morph. The cabins are kept really clean, food is good and there is a beach 20 minutes away as well as tours etc. Staff friendly and go out of their way to help.

Great place to get away from it all

This trip was our first to Costa Rica and this place was amazing. The trek there gave us a little pause but once there we fell in love with everything. We stayed in tent 1 on the beach and after walking up to see the Monkey Cabins I am glad we opted for the beach ones! The howler monkeys were our very early alarm clock but this is why we were there right? We did the half day tour in the park with Alvarro and found the whole experience delightful even with it being so hot for us northern folks. If you are looking for a unique and off the beaten path experience come here!! We’ll certainly be back

Hidden Paradise Lodge

Dreamy place and lovely people.

Hidden, and quite adventurous to reach this small paradise. But once in, it’s a treat. The family that runs the place is so friendly. The lodges are spacious and very clean. The dinner is well cooked and highly recomended. A juicy piece of chicken or fish is hard to find. But here it’s spot on and tasty.

Sabalo Lodge

Nestled at the heart of the Costa Rican jungle lies a secluded paradise called the Sabalo Lodge. It is home to monkeys, toucans, frogs and morpho butterflies living alongside human residents of a nearby village and travelers in search of a unique experience. Clustered in the mangroves, the Eco-Lodge sits next to the winding Sierpe River, which makes its way through the Osa Peninsula and joins the Pacific Ocean rimmed by a gleaming sandy beach. Like no other hotel of its kind, Sabalo Lodge has committed to providing a sustainable recreational experience, offering guests an outstanding array of activities which tread lightly on the local ecosystem.

Fantastic Place!

Reviewed By Theworldwithkids

Wow! What a fantastic place!! A beautiful lodge lost in the middle of the rainforest on an amazing property! We spent 4 nights at Sabalo Lodge and loved every minute of it. We did a great mangrove tour (we saw so many birds, monkeys, crocodiles…) as well as a couple of guided hikes in the jungle to beautiful waterfalls. The owner, Andre, is super friendly and accommodating, and very easy to talk with. He will do everything he can to make your stay fun and enjoyable. The food provided at the lodge is excellent and varied. The property is beautiful with tropical plants, a natural pool and many birds and animals. We saw many toucans and capuchin monkeys. The cabins are scattered around the large propriety, so lots of privacy. We love our cabin! It was clean, comfortable and large enough for our family of 4. No air conditioning but this was not a problem at all; the cabin was well ventilated with mesh windows (fans are available in each room, but we never had to use them). Cold water shower, which was so nice and refreshing (who needs hot water in the tropics?!). The wifi was strong and reliable. The road to get to Sabalo Lodge is an adventure, including a river crossing! You can drive there (4x4 required!) but we caught the bus to Palmar Norte and Andre nicely picked us up at the bus station. He then dropped us at a river dock to catch the taxi boat to Drake Bay. If you want to have a true adventure in the rainforest, we highly recommend Sabalo Lodge! You need more than one night to truly enjoy this beautiful place. We had an amazing 5 days and our time at Sabalo Lodge was one of the highlights of our 5 weeks trip in Costa Rica !!!

Suital was a delightful surprise!

Reviewed By m0llym2018

We were lucky to find Carlos’ jungle lodge on booking.com at the last minute. He is about halfway between Puerto Jiminez and Golfito and offers an amazing alternative from the normal eco lodges in the Osa. His cabins were obviously built with his heart and the property is wonderful. He has a private trail to an otherwise inaccessible beach on his property. We hiked down for sunrise and swam in the warm water before breakfast. This lodging is rustic, and you may find an insect or two in your cabin. It’s the jungle! We would like to go back and stay more nights and take in more of his hospitality. If you like no frills, rustic, yet private - stay here! He is open for guests! Also book directly with him if you can.

Accommodation Review

Very picturesque triangular cabins in the forest. Great for seeing wildlife: we have seen ospreys, white tailed kite, squirrel monkeys, humming birds, turtles, iguanas and lizards. The location is good in terms of nature, but Dos Brazos doesn’t have a lot going on, so be aware you will need to do shopping before you come. The facilities are good with a kitchen, and there is a nice pool which provides a great wildlife spotting hub. You can also pay $10 each to enter Bolita’s walks which are really good. It was very quiet during our stay, which was a shame because it boasts a great communal area with great potential. Wifi is terrible, but we had a very comfortable night and enjoyed our stay.

Osa Lodge

Osa Lodge, commonly described by our costumers as "a small hidden paradise" close to the main town in Puerto Jimenez yet far enough to be surrounded by the wonderful nature that is the signature of Corcovado. You can relax and be awakened by the wonderful bird sounds and playful little monkeys!

Two stars just for hospitality...

Reviewed By 814adelan

We went there for a few days but was enough. The first night we arrived our bed sheets were still dirty from the previous clients, and the day after we didn't have hot water. We appreciate the hospitality of the owner but it is not enough. Hope that is gonna improve the place also because the price is really high for the "quality" that is missing.

A set of 5 hamacas on the porch with garden view are waiting for you. Osa Tucan is close to the down town, where you can find Supermarkets, restaurants, Souvenir stores. The beaches are very easily access and Cano Island to do snorkling and diving is very close to us. The tropical forest of the Corcovado National Park of Costa Rica too. Osa Tucan can organize all the activities that you can do here at Drake Bay to discover the nature of Costa Rica. The principal way to came to Drake Bay is By Boat from a Place call Sierpe, we have different times but we recommend the boat at 11:30 am because you can enjoy the afternoon walking a long the beach and the forest. We at Osa Tucan can make the reservation. Drake Bay is Small town, so we have not Banks and Atms, we recommend bring cash.

Mirians Place Drake

Good, clean, inexpensive place in the center of Drake Bay

Reviewed By brigitte27_12

This was one of the cheapest places I stayed during my 5 w Costa Rica Travel. And compared to other more expensiv places this was very good value for that little money. Some rooms are really spacious and come with small kitchens. It is clean and even have WiFi. Not sure if this is in all of the rooms. A good restaurant is just steps away where you also get good breakfasts on advance reservation. Opposite Mirian's is a small Supermarket. They arrange Tours and Taxis.
