We stopped in for breakfast before visiting the adjoining smoked fish/jerky store. They had a couple of good specials to choose from at great prices. The food was simple but well prepared. The service was fast and friendly. The shop attached has delicious jerky in several flavors as well as smoked fish, shark, mussels, etc. as well as whole crabs and many canned items. Yum.

A beautiful Autumn day in Depoe Bay called for fish and chips, a scenic waterfront view with a local draft beer to take it all in. My cod and chips dish was great. The batter was light and the fish fresh tasting. I couldn’t resist the cup of tomato soup after our waitress explained the style. My spouse chose the fried oyster sandwich which he said was delicious. My choice of beer ended up being the Scottish Ale which was excellent and my spouse selected the Moby Red Ale and was delighted. We sat upstairs with delightful views of the inner harbor. There are great views of the ocean also if you so choose. Our waitress, Tiffany, was a joy and gave us excellent service. We would love to have room for dessert one day as the menu was extremely tempting

We stopped here to get oysters on the half shell. Unfortunately, they were out of oysters...... So disappointing! We decided to order their fried Calamari appetizer and it was outstanding! Nice thick strips of calamari (steaks sliced maybe?). We also had their clam chowder and it was good, but I wouldn’t say the best I’ve had. The service was attentive and very friendly.

We came here because the wait at J's was too long for us. Our drinks came out in frosty cold glasses which was nice! The fish & chips were very good but the fries just so-so. Would be an excellent meal if they switch to a crispier french fry. We also had the clam chowder which we both liked. Yes it is a bar and prices are decent!

We always order the clam chowder no matter what other foods interest us. My daughter is not a sea food lover & has always been able to find something to suit her. I on the other hand will eat almost any sea food except for calamari. The fish & chips are great. Mo's is a true eating experience when traveling on OR coast. We've always had entertaining wait staff who have been able to discuss different dishes with our party, give suggestions & are very welcoming.

Hadn’t been here in awhile for breakfast, so we were pleasantly surprised that the overall dining experience was still very good. I had a traditional egg entree and my wife went with an omelet. Both came as ordered, nice presentation, and very quick. Servers were exceptional today, checking back often to see if we needed anything. This was a Sunday morning so most diners were enjoying the ocean views and a leisurely breakfast, and it was nice that there was no effort to “move you alone”. We left, reminding ourselves that SR still is at the top of our list of preferred stops for breakfast/lunch! We’ll visit again!

Had my birthday dinner at Tidal Raves. I had heard a lot about this place. It was ok...The server seemed a little snarty...she didn't seem to care what we ordered...The food arrived without delay. I had ordered a filet medium rare...it came well done. By the time she checked back I had already eaten most of it...it was ok, I still ate it...it just wasn't the way I ordered it. Why didn't I send it back, you ask...because I was hungry and ready to eat...I didn't feel like waiting. I'd probably go back again and give it another chance.

We went here for dinner. They have gorgeous views of the beach and ocean, so you can whale watch while you dine. Our server, Kay, was wonderful. She answered all of our questions and her service was perfect. I had the breaded stuffed halibut special (note to chef....put it on your regular menu) and my husband had steak. Both meals were perfectly cooked.

Considering all the good press, I was disappointed. Did not live up to expectations. First issue was the one bottle corkage limit, regardless of table size. I can understand that for 2 or 4 people, but once you go over that, one bottle isn't enough. Let's give you a comparison. Their bread serving sizes are designed for 2-4 people. We needed more than one bread serving. Same with the wine, folks! A one bottle corkage limit is ridiculous for larger parties. Not a good way to start dinner, starting off with a bad impression. $35 corkage too, just for washing some glasses. They did have good service, very elegant and refined. Good views of the coast, but have to say it's not the best coastline to be looking at. Not their fault of course. Food is obviously the result of a lot of effort, planning, thought and creativity -- however it doesn't click, doesn't all come together, overall result is not worthy of all that effort. Which is sad. You want everything to be better than it is. Also the time between courses was a bit long. Lots of waiting.Pork belly w/ grits - grits were terrific, pork belly had no flavorCrab cakes - too many other flavors, crab was lost in it, overpoweredCorn soup - was pretty goodBeet salad - just ok, not greatMesclun salad - good, not great -- just teasers of blue cheese and dressingSalmon - overcooked, mehScallops - best liked entreeVegetarian gnocchi - gnocchi very good, veggies just so-soDuck -- smoked, too smokey for most of us, lentils were uninspiredWe skipped dessert, we were just ready to leave. Tired of waiting around, nothing sounded that great.Hi, t911!Thank you for visiting The Bay House, and thank you for the whining. It’s apparent that your complaints are really with our policy to allow only one corkage per party. That’s the rule I’ve had for 14 years, along with the largest wine list in the state. I explained that to you when you showed up with more than one bottle (you could have easily called ahead to ask about bringing your own wine), and you agreed, reluctantly though it may have been. Later in the evening, you tried to convince your server to break that rule, but to no avail. Very impressive. Did you ever think about actually picking something off our wine list? You complain about needing more wine for four people, but refuse to select anything from our wine program? It’s full of great wines at great prices, and it’s really the only way we have to generate the profit we need to pay our bills and our staff. I do allow my guests to bring in one special bottle, provided it’s not something on our list, because I know we don’t have everything, and I want my guests to enjoy a special bottle with a special meal. It’s absolutely not about allowing you a way to save money by cutting our business out of revenue. I am under no obligation to let you bring wine into my restaurant, I was just being nice. Thanks for not appreciating that fact. Your disdain for our policy was evident, but I guess I should be relieved that you didn’t try bringing your own food, too. Sorry, I missed the point of your bread analogy, but we provided that on a complimentary basis, and replenished it as necessary. I am, however, impressed by the lengths you went to in order to criticize the food served to your table in such detail, but I think we can all agree that your motives are suspect at best, and petty and vindictive at worst. Nobody needs that. Your dismissive comments are matched only by your pompous attitude about how a restaurant actually works. I invite your readers to check all the other reviewers comments that are untainted by whining about our corkage policy. Your complaint about the timing of your service is likewise faulty. Your party was in no hurry, and in fact, you spent quite a bit of time at the table following your meal, chatting and (I thought) enjoying your company and conversation. I apologize that none of us realized that you were having such a poor time. Ultimately, you were the very last party to leave that evening, we never tried to rush you, but in the end, you certainly weren’t the one ‘tired of waiting around’. Thanks again for joining us, but please choose another restaurant next time. We’re too small and too dedicated to what we do to have to put up with this kind of immature malarkey. Cheers!Steve WilsonProprietor

Atmosphere is very nice - warm and inviting - great room. Now, I know you cannot realistically be on the dot as to wait time...was suggested would be 10-15 mins - wound up with 40 mins +. We finally sat at the bar. Another couple walked in - she said it would be poss 10 mins tho, we had waited 20 - NOT SO...I happened to check my watch when we arrived - we waited 40+ minutes. Rightfully so, they honored those with reservations first. Absolutely and very glad they did. We get that - I mean, a simple check in woulda been nice. Our server was very nice, tho, their soup of the day was Jalapeno Cheese - Artichoke was another. I asked her opinion - she said def go with the Jalapeno - woulda been great had she also mentioned it dang near burned your mouth it was soooo spicy! Four bites and I was done. Portion size - way over the top - could go half the size and have very happy folks! In actuality, you purchased lunch...and dinner in a to-go box. No doubt the Side Door Cafe is a hit - and rightly so...not for us and not again.
