PERFECT! Immaculate rooms, friendly and helpful staff, awesome location!

Reviewed By MichelleGleason

My family and I enjoyed a spectacular 6-night stay. The owners and staff were friendly, helpful, and obviously took pride in taking great care of the place --rooms and grounds were immaculate! The heated pool was a nice alternative when the ocean was too cold for swimming. Beach was just behind the motel and the pier a short walk away. Would DEFINITELY return!

No breakfast basket...but no discount either.

Reviewed By rastagrrl

So we visited in late July but found out, after arriving, that due to covid-19, they no longer provide morning breakfast baskets. While I understand, since we are in a pandemic, I was annoyed that there was no mention of this on their website, or FB page, nor was there a subsequent rate reduction. I prefer to book breakfast inclusive stays. Had I known this was no longer an option beforehand I would have stayed elsewhere. Buyer beware.

This is a charming, comfortable little motel/inn in a sweet little seaside town. Located very conveniently to Portland, the caretaker was very friendly and accommodating. I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy the room, but I found it a perfect place to rest after a long day of flying, then driving.

Disgusting on all levels!!

Reviewed By s r

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! Cannot warn enough. This place was absolutely disgusting! Room smelled so heavily of marijuana that it was nauseating. Management offered to spray from air fresheners. The room hadn't been cleaned and I felt like I needed a shower for just walking into the room. They showed us another room that was just as dirty and the people in the room next to us were having loud sex with their door open. Needless to say we did not stay. The only thing worse than the actual hotel is the staff. The manager actually accused me of going up to the first room and smoking a joint before I complained about the smell and cleanliness of the hotel room. Luckily we found another hotel option that actually cleans their rooms to stay at or we would have driven two hours home rather than stay here. But it's our mistake. You get what you pay for...pay for trash and you get trash.

WOW - SUCH A GEM OF A B&B!!!!

Reviewed By 370beckyw

We had an AMAZING experience at the Atlantic Birches Inn B&B this past week. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this wonderful inn if you are traveling to Old Orchard Beach. Our room looked just like the pictures from their website - VERY clean and so cozy. The bed was comfy and the water pressure was GREAT! Breakfast surpassed all expectations (See photos). It's located a perfect distance from the beach and within minutes of some super yummy and inexpensive restaurants and bars. Now, to the best part!!! Owners, Nancy & Steve are SO personable yet extremely professional. My husband and I considered ourselves lucky as the Inn was slow which allowed for some great conversations on the front porch with them. I cannot speak highly enough of this B&B and the lovely couple that run it. We look forward to another stay in 2021.

Disgusting

Reviewed By ArborealAdventurer

I'm not even sure where to start. Before arriving, I received a phone call saying that they manage many properties and I needed to tell them when I am arriving so they will be there to give us the key. We were also told there were no blankets but sheets were provided. If you look on their website versus other ones there is conflicting information, depending on the room. While one says there is a toaster and grill to use, the other says there isn't. It specifically lists there is an outlet by the bed, but ours didn't have one. It also says sound proof rooms, which is an outright lie. At night, I actually had to look outside to see if our neighbors were sitting in front of our door because the sound of them loudly and drunkenly talking was traveling straight into our room. They were in front of their door, not ours. We had to blast the TV to drown them out, even with our AC on high. Luckily, the TV was working because it had been working only intermittently. I should really start from the beginning though. We checked in and as soon as we walked into the queen room we saw that it hadn't been swept. There was dirt, sand and dog hair very visibly all over the floors. I opened the mini fridge to put some of our things away and decided to keep it all in our cooler because the shelves were dirty and there was even food left in the freezer. Before I even walked into the bathroom, the reeking stench of urine hit me. It smelled like people had been peeing on the floors for multiple days. By then, I started to look up any other rooms available at last minute nearby. As you can imagine, I didn't find any. We put some of our things down and I saw that every surface--on top of the fridge, tables, dresser- were dirty. I imagine that one stay wouldn't have caused so much filth. I really feel as though it went multiple stays without being cleaned. Someone had also dropped a bag behind one of the tables. With corona on the prowl, I really felt uncomfortable touching other people's things. Although, with nothing being wiped down already what's the difference? We called to tell them about most of these issues. We were told that someone would come by to clean it properly. We waited around about 10 minutes and the man who checked us in came to clean. He sprayed some very noxious bleach cleaner and did a quick wipe down of the bathroom. Nothing else was done. We had to go to Walgreens ourselves to buy cleaner and paper towels just to feel like we could stomach staying in the place. We were also told that there was a pet fee when we checked in. Nothing on their website said anything about this. We were already there with our dog so we had to choice but to keep him with us. Later on, the charge was put through without any other word about it. I wasn't asked to sign for the charge at all. On top of the filth we encountered already, the sink barely had any flow at all. It took a long time to wash our hands. There was no hand towel provided either. Luckily I had brought a small one. Only two small bath towels, two wash cloths, shampoo, conditioner and a bar of soap was provided. No bath mat either. I really cringed getting out of the shower to put my bare feet on the floor. Not that it mattered so much, because the paint that's peeling off the shower floor provided my feet with some coverage as it stuck to my feet. The shower, as you can imagine, had a low flow as well. It also loudly dripped all night no matter how tightly we turned the handles off. The only positive is you can walk to the beach from here. It's only about a 6 minute walk. If you don't feel like walking to the beach you can head over to the pool, if you don't mind dog hair. People were swimming in the pool with their dog while we stayed. The only positive was the close proximity to the beach. Was it worth a filthy, uncomfortable room? Absolutely not. The condition of this place is disgusting. With corona looming, it's simply irresponsible and unsafe. Unbelievable.

A dump. Just disappointing.

Reviewed By Jim G

Somewhere there is a line between quaint/rustic and rundown-dump. The Sunset Motel passed this line a long time ago. Mismatched sheets and towels (that had seen a lot of washings), no way to turn the light off on the ceiling fan so good luck sleeping with the light on, no reading lamp beside the bed, no bowls in the “kitchenette”, rust in the sink, and so on. Shower temp vacillated between burning and cold in a random cycle. No ice/ice cube tray. Light on kitchenette wall didn’t have a shade…yes, a bare bulb. Left a day early…just couldn’t take it.
