Eduardo's Taco Stand

Our food was great, but they don't tell you the ingredients in tacos. For example, it doesn't tell you on menu if includes refried beans. I don't like and would have told them to hold them off of my taco. Someone ahead of me asked a question and was told by lady taking order to just read the menu board. Food was great though and fast.

Still great fabulous coffee, smoothies, got chocolate and pastries! Favorites this trip were the Nutella muffin, the chocolate and cheesecake muffin, and the chocolate espresso coffee cake!

You can choose from a variety of beers and wines to take home or consume onsite. They have some draft beers but tons of different bottle beers and lots of wines. They also have unique gifts.

It's a cool place to grab a drink and enjoy the porch.

A great food truck tucked away on Back Rd. Good egg and cheese biscuits and pastries, but they only have one kind of muffin and scone each day so if you don't like that day's offering you are kind of out of luck. The owner is really nice and always has a smile even when it is crowded. She also does special order cakes!

Fig Tree Deli offers made to order Breakfast and Lunch sandwiches, as well as ready to serve homemade salads. Chicken, Shrimp, Tuna, Pimento Cheese and Potato salad to name a few . Offering a variety of Vegetarian sandwiches and salads as well. Take out and outside seating offered.

We stopped at Sweet Tooth to kill some time while part of family went on horse back ride along the beach. Girls each wanted ice creme and while selection isn't that extensive (maybe 10 flavors) there is enough to capture the attention and taste-buds of children. We ignored walls of candy, they are there though, if that is your thing. Sweet Tooth offered fudge and truffles. I did get a Key Lime truffle...keeper! On way to check out noticed some take-n-eat spreads. Picked up a pimento cheese spread and crackers. Perfect. Great mix. Prices were decent.

Major problem: bathroom non-existent. I have an idea, let's sell sticky stuff to kids with no way to wash off?! What? There is a port-o-let near by (gross) and a gas station across the street with a very dirty restroom that employees at Sweet Tooth suggested for girls to use. May be the ONLY choice and not necessary a GOOD choice. (NOTE: if you don't buy something at gas station, the employees will go 100% Soup Nazi on you for going in the restroom.) There is a note in restroom calling out Sweet Tooth employees for practice of sending people over. Locally rivalries...cute.

The Magic Bean Coffee Bazaar

The Ocracoke community is an imaginative, intelligent group with few places to gather together in a laid-back, homey atmosphere. The goal of the Magic Bean Coffee Bazaar is to cultivate a creative cooperative that caters to the community’s need for a place to share ideas over coffee, and lounge about on comfortable couches or catch some rays on the back deck and enjoy a tastey guilt free smoothie and locally made pastry. The Magic Bean will also host weekly community engagement projects such as art classes and open mic nights. We will operate year round so that locals and tourists alike, always have a place to gather, plan, or share with their friends in a lively environment that isn’t their home or a bar. The Magic Bean Coffee Bazaar will serve organic coffee in eco-friendly cups. The beans are regionally roasted and responsibly sourced. This is important because it tastes the best and helps the most people. Rates: Drinks $ 1- $6

Usually swing through here a couples times on each visit to magical Ocracoke while the rest of the fam is off elsewhere. Unfortunately not up to the standard set by the Ocracoke Coffee Company(a pretty high bar) but there is definitely room to grow and a positive energy throughout the place. Anyone who's been to the coffee shop knows there is room for more coffee on this island! We will continue to give the Magic Bean a chance when we visit and hopefully soon I won't know which place is better! If only the restaurants on this island had half the spirit and creativity of this up-and-comer.

We were on Ocracoke the evening NCDOT started running the ferries again after Maria went out to ocean. Very few places were open - we weren't expecting much but the tablecloths were out, the candles lit, the place fully staffed and I guess many of the guests on the island in the dining rooms. And the food was very good - in fact, surprisingly good. Well thought out wine list, very fresh fish (not sure quite how they did that unless the locals stayed on the island while it was closed to the world). Would definitely go back.

The Slushy Stand

Whether looking to rent a bike, cooling off with a frosty slushy or sweet treat, or requiring an espresso drink or robust cup of coffee for your afternoon pick-me-up, The Slushy Stand is the choice for you. We offer adult and kids bikes, bikes with baby seats, tagalongs, adult tandems and adult trikes. A bicycle is a great way to feel the slow pace of island life. When you are finished riding, stop in for 20 flavors of ice cream, milkshakes, sundaes, homemade waffle cones and homemade hot fudge, fresh fruit or syrup slushies, soft serve, scoop yogurt and floats. We have a full espresso menu and our regular brew is a very smooth Cuban. We are open seasonally from 7 am to 10 pm, 7 days a week.

Really felt rushed, wrong order, wait staff was rude and felt like they just wanted to get us out of there. For a place that prides themselves on making "slushies" it was a cup of ice with syrup. Do not recommend, especially if you have children.

I understand the service was slow because they were really short-handed. The poutine was excellent as was the chef salad with pistachios. SO had the local tempora fried wahoo fish sandwich and really enjoyed it. The outdoor patio allows dogs; even brought out a bowl of water. Not your normal menu, so if you are tired of boring, please stop.
