Casa Renti

good place to rest before going up the hills

Reviewed By Sza_bee

This place is a family run business. it is a perfect spot for the tourists who want to set a base before going into the mountains. Same for skiing in Ranca. Not too many rooms, which can be an advantage. Best of all is that the owner know pretty much the surroundings and has a real knowledge base for the ones who are not familiar or there for the first time. His advice can save some trouble further up the mountain.

Casa de vacanta Madalina

Perfect for a stay before going on Transalpina

Reviewed By 581marleeen

Absolutely lovely place with a lovely host. I arrived late, but they still prepared me a meal in the evening. Fresh and yummy breakfast. Clean room and comfortable bed. Nice and quiet place (but be prepared for some animal noises, but it's part of the charm when in a landly area). The host is really the best!

Cute as a button outside but mixt feelings for Pensiunea Valea Magurii-Novaci-jud Gorj

Reviewed By Violeta B

We stayed at Pensiunea Valea Magurii form Novaci, Ramnicu Valcea, from 20 to 22 Aug 2018. I booked the place through Booking.com. The place is made to look good in pictures, maximized for that I would say, I need to give them that. It is also very clean inside and outside. First impression at arrival is of a nice and picturesque place. There are a lot of tables and benches in the yard all dressed nicely with Romanian decorative towels. For who wants in the yard is also available a wood grill. The room we had it was clean, it did look like in the pictures but once in the room we realized it was just an ok room for us. The room had a washroom with sink, toilet and shower. At the other side of the courtyard was a kitchen available for guests. The common kitchen was well equipped with a stove, a microwave, cutlery, dishes, pots and pans and two fridges where the guests were able to put their food and drinks wherever they find space. We – me, my mom and my 10yo son, were not so excited though because of small details that were lacking and could’ve been addressed easily by the host. In the room the closet was made just for hangers, but it had no hangers – all you could practically use was just one shelf. Not even a nail on the door or closet to hang a coat. No table or chair in the room. Luckily outside the room were two foldable chairs and a foldable tiny table – more for the “looks” – one chair was broken – but we were able to use them. The TV in the room was tiny, it was so tiny that I could not even located it at the beginning – almost a size of a laptop display on a wall. But it had about 20 channels at least from which about five just for kids. In the bathroom the pipes were installed in plain view. The shower had the most drawbacks: insanely slippery floor inside the shower, no place where to put your soap/shampoo, the shower head was not adjustable as position and touching the ceiling. The only towels provided: three hand towels that had seen better days and now they were just a grey kind of looking. In the room the sheets were the ones with the flowers, like in the pictures, but they were already with few holes. The mattresses and beds: one double and one single – the lowest quality. I slept in the double bed – which it had some drawers in the frame and I felt myself sliding in those drawers. The blanket for the single bed I thought was a joke, it was no wider than 1m/3feet – it was a strip of a blanket. The whole place is on a slope – this you cannot realize from the pictures. They do have free parking and of course is on a slope too. Location is outside the circulated roads, somewhat in the woods, the last 500m to the place is just a rocky road. Again – this is not mentioned anywhere. No stores around either. In fact, I had trouble finding the place with Google maps. What saved me was the phone app – Waze. Once there I asked the host if they have some breakfast that they can serve, for a payment of course – and she looked very puzzled at me as my request was something unheard of before. Though they are practically “in the woods” another two villas are also there providing rooms for guests. First night was a lot of party noise, almost all night, from the neighbor villa’s guests. The pool is an above ground medium size enclosure filled with icy water, though was August time. Overall maybe what they offer is ok for the area/expected – but I will not stay here again.
