Simple, mama's food In a simple, non descript setting by a main road. The food is "just like at HOME" the owner/server/cook polite and helpful and the prices are just right. You will not go wrong here.

Just been to this restaurant with family and had a fantastic experience. The chef showed us into the kitchen so we could see the beautiful fish and shellfish and then made dinner based on what we liked and, very happily on various allergies! All of the staff couldn't have been more welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and you could see the chef has a real passion for the ingredients. I really don't have a negative thing to say and would definitely come back, the meal was also very reasonably priced

Traditional Portuguese Restaurant. Large Balcony over viewing Luso and indoor seating. Try ou special fish and octopus rice or the goat cooked in wine. Closes during winter. Re-opens 1st June 2020

This is not my first meal at Maria do Barril and i'll come back again.The care they put on every single recipe is a must... A must come and taste,A must eat and drink,A must stop and enjoy this portuguese excellent food and restaurant.Thank you for reminding me some flavours I've been missing for a few years.

Drank here twice after a meal - really friendly staff - they even returned my glasses to the hotel that I had left. Good value for money for the drinks - didnât have any food but what I saw being served looked good - more snacks and burgers

Lots of waiters standing around doing not much. Most offensive was the I wanted only the "salad trolley" for dinner as nothing on the menu appealed to me. When the waiter brought the trolley and dished out enough lettuce for a gerbil, I asked for more. He actually told me that if I took more, other diners would not be able to have salad. Are you serous? Go to the kitchen and put some more lettuce in the bowl!! What a way to treat a customer.

We had a very frustrating day trying to find a place open after noon on a Friday. We went through two towns and three cafes trying to find a meal and a cold drink without any luck. When we found Taberna they welcomed us gave us a great meal and excellent conversation. The are informed about the area and serious about growing their business. I highly recommend this restaurant. Because of our experience there we explored more of the community and discovered the wines of the region.

Traditional portuguese food restaurant. The food is good but not excellent and the portions are generous, the décor is dated and it is located in one of the entraces of the village.On the back of the restaurant, there is a private outdoor parking lot.Overall, good but nothing to rave about it.

We were pleasantly surprised by this little gem in Luso.The staff were friendly, the food super tasty and atmosphere very relaxing and creative.We tried several tapas items and all were really tasty and fresh. The service was not fast, but it never at the speed we are used to in North America - they work at a different pace in Portugal.

The atmosphere of this local almost fine dining restaurant was so authentic, warm and friendly. Definitely a dinner place, book in advance. We were two couples from Finland and New Zealand, loving the lamb cutlets, great desserts. Nice wine list, full of local's, enjoyed it very much. Highly recommended.
