Attentive service, impressive food and quirky interior. We dined from the 3 courses for £19.95 menu. The host (James) was attentive, explained the menu (with any changes) and got everything spot on. Although it's a small restaurant he was the only front of house staff but he remained unflappable. The fish was well cooked and presented, the cheesecake light but flavoursome. The lamb was slow cooked and soft but retained all the flavour you would expect. Lemon and Rosemaey mash very tasty. Pear and almond tart is very delicious. We'll be back to this hidden gem.

Having dinner here is a real treat. The service you receive from when you enter until you depart is genuine and personable. I love the casual approach to such a brilliant foodie experience. I was therefore delighted that they were awarded a Michelin star, but didn't need to become stuck up snobs to get it.Every course here is such a novel and gastronomic experience! We didn't go for wine pairing because we know what we like! (and you don't need to spend a mortgage on it either) - to top it all they have a fab cocktail menu too.!!Can't wait to go back!!

I found the restaurant attractive with nice decor. It is located in the centre of Parkgate and there are several parking spaces outside the door. The young staff were very pleasant and quite efficient. I liked the Sunday menu options and chose the beef sliders which were very tasty. Others had the boneless ribs and the chilli prawns which were also enjoyed. Two of us picked the cod and I chose the slow braised beef. Great dishes, especially mine! The beef was outstanding and resembled two slabs of daupinoise potatoes in appearance. We enjoyed the accompanying potatoes and other vegetables. My brother in law chose the chicken chow mein which was a special. It was extremely salty. We all agreed about this and did mention it. He received a complimentary pint of beer. Shame all the dishes weren't perfect, but the lunch was thoroughly enjoyable.

We needed a quick place to eat. Price was right. Service was good. Purchased the Tuesday night Steak Special. Food was served quick and hot. Steaks came out well. The coke was flat and the curry chicken was extra peppery. It had been a long day of traveling and was close to our rental so it did the job.

The Windrose Bar & Bistro

Stunning waterfront Bar & Bistro overlooking Carrickfergus Marina with outdoor Marina Terrace located at 5 Rodgers Quay, Carrickfergus, County Antrim, BT38 8BE.

I last reviewed the Windrose in April 2018. Just after their recent 2018 refurbishment. Then I gave it a great review. Just visited it tonight with my wife and another couple. All I can say is - it’s even better than the last time. Not sure if it’s had a small facelift ( the privacy glass behind the tables) but the restaurant interior is stunning easily the most impressive in Carrickfergus and matches the best pub/bistros in belfast. The staff were excellent, both in greeting and service. I would also say that the menu choice was even better than the previous menu. What I have found over the years is that they have reduced the menu choices from what was 3-4 pages long menu that was far too big, to a one page menu of first class food. From the crab croquettes to the pate to the ribs and Irish short rib, it was just top class.Really enjoyable meal in a fantastic restaurant.Hi 1STTIMEBERLIN,Thank you so much for your review of The Windrose! It's fantastic to hear that you love our new menu as much as we do!We take great pride in the food and customer service we offer and a lot of thought goes into the decor and menus etc, so it is really fantastic to hear that you have enjoyed it so much.We can't wait to have you back again soon.Kind Regards,The Windrose
