It has been a very long while since we last visited La Fornace and I was really looking forward to re-discovering this Italian restaurant. Our party of 7 spanning three generations booked a table outside in the shade on a balmy Friday evening recently. The first thing I noticed was that all the personnel had changed. Service was OK and we were regularly topped up with drinks (Kölsch) as at least four of us were quite thirsty that night. To get things going in the right spirit I order an Aperol Royal Prosecco which I have been drinking a lot of recently. Here it came in a tiny glass - for over 4,00 Euro. I was disappointed. As a starter I liked the sound of baby calarmares with salad. I was dismayed, however to discover that it was a huge plate - certainly enough for a main course & in fact one of our party did, indeed order it as his main course. I followed this with a pizza diavolo which was also huge - I simply couldn't finish it. I suppose having too much is better than not having enough but I just felt overwhelmed...The others in our party were satisfied enough. They had a range of dishes all of which were well cooked. Somehow I left with mixed feelings. The place had somehow changed for an atmospheric point of view. One of the waitresses who could hardly speak German let alone English which somehow seemed to sum it up for me - there was the missing homely, friendly feel about the whole place which I remember from the past. Sorry, but for me I classify it now as "average" even though my 13 year old son thought it was "excellent" because he liked his pizza margarita :-)

I love this place. A friend of mine from America visited and I took her to Rialto for their perfect currywurst & pommes. They gave us brotchen for free alongside so she got to try that for the first time as well.This place is big and airy has fair prices. They have friendly staff (one guy even SMILES) and they deliver the best pizza in town. (Don't go to that other place that starts with an L, I'm warning you.) They give you a bag of 6 free pizza brotchen and kraueterbutter with the delivery. Free food, in Germany?My favorite food at Rialto is what we call their "disaster burger" - a big old hamburger with so much stuff on it you can't eat it without making a huge mess. You could call it "The 6 napkin burger" - you can't have enough napkins. They also have a salad with chicken in it that's awesome. I've only been there at lunch so I can't say how crowded it is in the evening, but whenever I'm there, it seems to coincide with an employee's lunch break, and *the employees eat the food too*! So you know it's not crap.They also customize anything the way you like. They want you to be happy. I hope they stick around.

Food was very good authentic Italian which we enjoyed potions good and the food is freshly cooked. We had the pasta which was excellent followed by ice cream.

The restaurant is located at the main road between Bergisch Gladbach and Bensberg. Parking is possible in front of the restaurant but not there are not plenty of them. The place started, at least it looks like, as take away and delivery service for Italian food. They added a little room lately which is nicely decorated. When the weather is good then they add a few beer benches outside. The menu is not very big, they are well known for their excellent pizzas. The pizzas are huge. We had a salad upfront which was big too. That was an error. The service is nice.

I ordered a pizza carbonara, a salad with yoghurt dressing and fried potatoes, for home delivery (via lieferando) during my stay in Bonn, and was very disappointed with the taste of the dishes. The portions were plentiful but the dishes were not flavourful and were quite tasteless and after the initial slices I was not able to finish the items. Delivery was polite and as per the time stipulated.
