Literally one of the best meals of my life. I had PLAICE, a white fish that was roasted lightly with spring peas, green beans and capers. Light, fragrant and delicious. The service was exceptional, the beauty of the canal delightful and everyone was just a joy. Donât miss!

Had the lunch tasting menu. Everything was perfect as expected of a Michelin starred restaurant. Excellent service and food. Highly recommend this place.The Teylers Museum is within walking distance. We went there first in the morning.After lunch, walked over to the Molen de Adriann which is also nearby.

What a wonderful place ..! It is worth of their Michelin rating and for me, it is now top of the list. The chefs are simply ARTISTS. They are certainly more than accomplished chefs. The service was superb. The food was to die for. It is not just food. It is poetry in motion. Very grateful to our friends for taking us to this culinary paradise.

We went here on the recommendation of the hotel receptionist, and ended up going back for a second visit. The weather was pleasant enough for us to sit outside and the food was excellent. I really enjoyed the veggie Flammkuchen, which is similar to a light pizza, but minus the tomato sauce. The salad was very good too.The staff were friendly and helpful, but the service seems to move at a set pace - they'll seat you and offer you drinks, then come back and offer you some bread to start, and even if you ask to see the menus during this time, they'll only bring them when they want to. Maybe they had to hunt around for English menus for us, I don't know, but it was the same both nights. If you don't mind waiting, it's a really great place.

After coming to Haarlem for a long weekend we wanted to try this place out for breakfast and werenât disappointed! The place was busy but we found a quiet table and were greeted and served quite quickly. We had a delicious breakfast with tea and were full for hours after! Highly recommended!

This is a hidden gem! The restaurant is housed in the fascinating and spectacular 100 year old country estate hotel Duin en Kruidberg and is located in Santpoort, about 6 kilometers north of Haarlem. So you do have to travel to get there, but it is worth it. As mentioned on its website, De Vrienden van Jacob have had 1 Michelin star since 2006, and this star is more than deserved. The head chef, Alain Alders, visits each and every guest at the start of their dinner to personalize their experience. We elected a 5 course surprise menu with wine selections. It was absolutely superb, refined, delicious....The wine selections were great and for North Americans different from what they get served in the USA or Canada. Also, the price-tag for a 5 course dinner was favorable (around 90 Euros), certainly compared to what people pay in North America. In short, a restaurant that definitely is worthwhile visiting and you can decide to sleep at the hotel to get that little extra heavenly experience. By the way, reservations are required, but if you are unable to make a reservation online, it is worth calling the restaurant directly. Enjoyed a superb fish meal at this excellent restaurant that has superb 180 degree views of the harbour & sea area. Outstanding cod and terrific service team.
